I always wonder if the folks speaking negativly about the timemaster own the mower. first and foremost its a "Home Owner" mower. So an hour of non stop mowing time is completely sufficient as most home owners will complete the mowing under that time so the tank size is fine. So that means they will fuel the mower once a week before they mow thier property.
Many of the reviews are lawn company owners. Commercial application has different stressors that add to wear and tear, multiple users, loading/unloading, different terrains/weather conditions, different maintance schedule. The main reason we see so many commercial applications is because its the best $1000 30" mower made hands down. But using a "home owner" mower in commercial applications brings with it many problems not experienced with designed use. So yes the mowers has faults and these faults are agitated with commercial application.
I've owned mine since 2018. The B&S 223cc moter has been flawless, abolutely no issue with the electric start(I've only had it on a charger twice), belts and drive train. I bump the starter once or twice then hit it and she starts right up. The cut quality is great and it mulches great(which is my main use). I find the bagging to be excellent. I will say that my Honda HRX has a better cut quaility when mulching, but its specifically designed for that application. The home ownwers here in DFW seem to like the 2.25 or 2.75 cut height better then 2.5/3.0. Toro is on this scale. The mowers personal pace system is fantastic, but the mower may struggle at times going uphill depending on grade.
Through the years I've aquired side jobs and in 2021 I formed a DBA and got insurance. I used my Timemaster & HRX during that formative years. I got several smaller commercial properties and now use a Ferris FW15 for those properties(Its a beast) with the old Timemaster on the trailer standing by for the light work.

I started a lawn business as a retirement job about 3 years ago. I only do about 30 yards a week as a solo operator. I purchased a Timemaster as my first 30" mower. I understand that it is a residential mower. In the last half of the first season, I started having problems with the idler pulleys failing. Watched a Taryl Fixes All video on replacing them with metal commercial pulleys instead of the plastic ones that come on it. I haven't had a problem with the pulleys since. I believe it is a pulley for an Exmark. I did purchase a Scag SFC 30" as well. I used it about 4 times, sold it, and bought another Timemaster so I had a spare. The Scag actually gave a slightly better cut, but there is about a 90 pound difference in the weight. The Timemaster is about 140 pounds and the Scag SFC is about 230 pounds. That 90 pound difference makes a huge difference after a day of mowing. Now, 3 years into my retirement job, I'm still using the same Timemaster I bought 3 years ago. Yes, daily use does result in some parts wearing out, but you have to expect that in a commercial setting where I'm doing that many yards a week. For a home owner, it might take 3 years for you to wear out the first set of idler pulleys. Also, the gas tank is to small. You can get more volume by removing the anti splash sponge they put in it. If you fill it up with the sponge removed, you will most likely have some gas vibrate out of the cap. Don't fill it above the bottom of the fill neck and that pretty much eliminates the problem. You can also put an extra O-ring at the base of the gas cap and that will take care of the issue. I have replaced the blade engagement cable and the kill switch on both of the mowers as well. I did eventually replace the idler pulleys on my second Timemaster when the original ones wore out on it as well. I love my Timemaster mowers! Also, just a hint, I found my second one on Facebook Marketplace for considerably less than you can buy it at the store. I actually saved about $500 on that purchase. It was new and had never cut grass. He had 3 of them still in the original boxes.

I’ve been using mine to mow 20,000 square feet of cool season salad bar since we got our place in spring 2019. I had a JD 21” and was not interested in mowing all this with that mower even once. Can confirm, I mow the smaller front yard, refuel and mow the back. Our grading is probably worse than Ramrods but at the higher cool-season HOC I don’t get the scalping issues you’ll see in shorter stuff. I did get a Big League Lawns stripe kit, pricey but I like it. My one piece of advice- when you’re done mowing, flip it up and hit the underside of the deck with the garden hose *right then*. Maybe have a scrub brush handy in case you have some stubborn sticky grass clippings. It will come off easy if you don’t let it cake on there. Just like the breakfast dishes, get right on it and it comes clean much easier. Most of the “Clogmaster” crew are mowing wet grass, cutting way too much and starting with a deck that is pre-caked from multiple cuts with no cleaning- then you scrape with a putty knife or power wash, destroy the deck paint and next time it’s even worse. I also spray with some Teflon anti stick, *every time*. The whole process takes two minutes which is no big deal after an hour plus of mowing. Nice review guys.

I have a lawn care business and have numerous mowers including a Timemaster and a Turfmaster and both these mowers use the exact same blades.
The Timemaster is lighter and more powerful.
The only draw back on the Timemaster is the small gas tank.
No big deal we top it up with gas once an hour.

Thanks for this video. Homeowner with a 8500 yard. It's right in that size that a larger mower is overkill, but I want that wider stripe look without having to double up passes. I am likely going to purchase this, as I think it has the turfmaster beat in more areas than it loses, especially in home applications. Looked at the cub cadet cc800 and I just can get over that bagging system lol. Thank you and this was an entertaining presentation.

  • @47f0

I've got to agree with G S Texas - these mowers are a dirty secret of commercial crews, apparently. I certainly see enough of them on trailers, riding along with some pricey Scag and Gravely Zero Turns. But these same folks will dog the Timemaster in public - like that girl you keep dating, but won't admit it.
The main goal of commercial equipment is to make it idiot proof. The second goal of commercial equipment? If you can't make it idiot proof, make it bomb proof. I "downgraded" to a Timemaster from the eXmark - turns out, some of those "fluff" convenience features, like personal pace, are even more convenient if you're pushing one of these for five or six hours.
If your business model is "buy the equipment, abuse the equipment, buy more equipment", then "professional-grade" is what you need - although I think it's more professional to maintain and use your tools appropriately. The Timemaster isn't perfect. The gas capacity on that size engine was a total brain-fart. The blade timing belt idle pulley and tension pulley are no good - but you can upgrade them to the eXmark pulleys easily and fairly cheaply. I personally detest Briggs engines historically. But this engine seems to deliver adequate and reliable power, and if you're at all conscientious about keeping good oil in it, seems to have a good life-span.
Aside from the fuel-capacity, I haven't missed my eXmark at all. The Timemaster gets me through a property just as quickly, with less wear on me.
