I was lucky enough to hear Alam Khan play raga Shree to the tabla accompaniment of Pt. Swapan Chowdhury at Madhusudan Mancha many years back. That day his father, our beloved, Late Ustad Ali Akbar Khan introduced him to the Kolkata audience. We were simply stunned the way he handled such a delicate and difficult raga like Shree. I bestow my heartfelt best wishes for the young Ustad. He has that inexplicable magic of his father in his strokes. May he become worthy of his illustrious family and fulfil the promise he had shown in his very first appearance.
I remembered Ust. Ali Akbar Khan saheb while I was listening to the alaap...what a great music you have inherited! Flourish more, wish you a great life full of music ahead!
one of the my favorite raga peaceful and deep. i heard Pt nikhil banerjee recording many time and in sarod first time i got it amazing playing of malgunji
Shibpur was in Tripura, British India. The fanatic Bangladeshis burnt down the music school of Baba Alauddin Khan in Shibpur, Bramhanbaria. The music lovers as well as Khan sahib were so lucky that Bangladesh(East Pakistan) was not created then when Baba Alauddin Khan was born.
Excellent. It is so reassuring to hear these notes being played with such intricate care to exactly how each one sounds. It is far more important to play the notes carefully and correctly than fast. Nothing is more important than the sound.
Only the ORIGINAL blood line, This you cannot learn, you have in your bloodline or not. You can tell apart khandani musician or not in first 5 seconds. I don't need to know more, or hear more. Your bloodline is the seal of perfection quality

Unparalleled tradition of greatest musicians of the earth from Shibpur (Bangladesh), Maihar, to California (USA)
