I really love this movie alot due to the plot , characters and jokes made throughout the movie. I ain't gonna lie, Tenma deserves a medal for the worst father of the year. I get that it was because of grief and all, but disowning a robotic clone of your own flesh and blood was going way too far.
In the anime he actually ended up being a villain not because his son had his own personality But because of how robots were being treated in society Also you have to understand this man tried to bring his dead son back to life and then when it ended up not being his son he was filled with grief and he obviously shouldn't have the stand for the child but his entire arc in the movie is learning to love his new son Or at least that's my take away from it
Plus, in the movie he has a redemption arc Or after the president makes fun of Astro and tries to steal the key He defends him So he had a redemption arc. The entire thing is him overcoming his grief So that he could step up to be a good father Even past his grief, that's the point of the movie And Astro Boy in general
The 2003 Astro Boy TV series is my favorite take of the character. I loved it so much that seeing this film angered me at the time. We should've gotten that Gatchaman CGI film after TMNT's (2007) release.
