@@JohnHausser same here. Went to Cuba so many times. Not even a single complaint. Just the food is kind of plain. Just my opinion. As I eat lots of spicy dishes, they don't have any.
I don't think I have EVER left a youtube comment but as someone born and raised in miami and a resident of little havana for over a decade this video sucks. I live blocks away from both Palacios de Los jugos (a miami chain restaurant) and whatever that generic Cuban restaurant is next to the domino park. Neither is anything special. Then you ate a Cuban sandwich on SOUTH BEACH?! All he did was show tourist sites.

I’m a Cuban who was born and raised blocks from that Las Olas you went to! My mom would take me there for lunch all the time. Seeing you go to these places and enjoy our cuisine makes me so happy and nostalgic!

I never had Cuban food til I met my husband. It is by far one of my favorite cuisines. If you go to Miami again there is a place called Bella Cuba, get the oxtail it's so good.

As a Cuban American who was born and raised in Miami, thank you Mikey. I've been WAITING FOR YOU TO DO THIS!!!! I no longer live in Miami. I left a few years ago and I live in Las Vegas, NV. Watching this video brought me back so many memories. So many amazing Cuban places in Miami. I haven't had Cuban food in a super long time.....I'm a bit sad...
Not Cuban, but a fellow native Miamian. I miss Cuban food sooooo much! And Cuban bread-- it ain't a Cuban sandwich without that bread! I so wish I could get that on the regular-- it is my favorite bread in the world. *sigh*
@@athenastewart9167 Agreed. When I was living in Cali, I had a hard time finding authentic Cuban bread, but when I did, it was shitty - wasn't even close to the real thing. I didn't realize that food was special until I left FL. They always say that the grass isn't always greener on the other side. I love the west mostly cus of the weather and it's cheaper than the east by a lot, especially places like Arizona and Nevada but the con is that there are barely any real, good Cuban places to eat lmaoo

I lived in Kendall last year and there was a Palacio de los Jugos within walking distance. Never felt more spoiled in my life with affordable, wholesome, Cuban cuisine!
Cuban American who was born in Miami. I lived in Kendall for most of life. I did live in Homestead, Key Largo, and North Miami Beach for a bit but most spent my life living between Kendall and Sunset. Also attended FIU.
I left FL about 7 years ago. Lived in Los Angeles, but I left and became a resident of Las Vegas, NV. With that being said, I truly missed the Cuban food in Miami. I haven't had Cuban food in a very, very long time....

I grew up in Miami and this video made me a little homesick. I used to live a few blocks from where Mike ate at in Little Havana and the food around there is great. He did drop the ball by not getting his Cuban sandwich at Versailles restaurant. That is THE place for it. Mark Wiens visited there a while back and lost his mind at how good the food there is.
Some places like this pack so much food that two people can eat, worth the money

It's not rice and beans, those come in two separate dishes, it's called Congri and they are cooked together. I just made a ton last Saturday.
That first place you went to oh my! The beef and rice and the chicharron looked amazing and so did the Cuban sandwich. Pork belly pizza? Whoa! That blew my mind Mikey. It also looked delicious.

Been to Cuba...Have yet to see a "Cuban Sandwich"....that's a Miami invention :) Plenty of Ham & Cheese down there though....Chicken, Pork & Fish are the main dishes...Beef was always in short supply or for Tourists. Strange is to find Fried Rice everywhere...Bread is fantastic...Food tends to be on the bland side....probably just a lack of availability to products due to the embargo. Their ability to use whatever is on hand is amazing and a testament to their ingenuity to overcome all the shortages that they face on a daily basis. Now...hop on a plane to Havana and try out the real food of Cuba :)

I know it does but I never seen that big steak piece in Cuba look up actual cuban food that we actually eat in Cuba ropa vieja and congrís of course , we also enjoy our bocaditos which is a small sandwich with pork inside we have a plate every 31st of December which has yuca which is a root and congrís and pork we roast it on a stick for 8 hours and season it with salt and lemon it’s super good it’s worth a trip to Cuba and to donate to the actual people because the government doesn’t aid the people at all but charge them and not give them fresh meats at all red meats is illegal in Cuba but you will find red meats in black markets which is small stands with a bunch of meats but the people who sell it risk it because it’s illegal Im not speaking down on Miami food presentation of Cuba but it’s worth going to actual Cuba and taste how good our food is
