As you guys probably know by now, when I’m at home in Miami, I love giving you guys a taste of the diverse cuisines you can find in my hometown. One of the top cuisines you can find here is Cuban, so I decided to take you on a Little Havana Cuban food tour in Miami! Let’s go!
For this adventure, I teamed up with my friends at Get Your Guide. I met up with my guide, Grace, who put together an amazing tour of Little Havana for me. Little Havana is one of Miami’s most famous neighborhoods and is known for its massive Cuban-American population.
We headed over to Old’s Havana Cuban Bar & Cocina, one of the area’s authentic Cuban restaurants. I looks small but has an old-school diner feel and an outdoor terrace. We ordered picadillo tostones, a Cuban sandwich, and a mojito!
The mojito was really refreshing. The picadillo tostones were made from mashed green plantains stuffed with ground beef and beans. They were so delicious!
The Cuban sandwich contained roasted pork, ham, swiss cheese, pickles, and mustard. It came topped with fritas, or tiny French fries, which I put inside the sandwich. It’s the one sandwich you have to try in Miami. The flavors all work so well together, and the toasted bread is fantastic!
Next, we headed to La Fruteria, where you can get fresh fruits, juices, smoothies and even local honey. There, we’d get some guarapo, or sugarcane juice. It’s basically a fruit stand reminiscent of the ones down in Homestead!
They ran the sugarcane through a presser. I love guarapo. I have it all the time on the streets of India. It’s so refreshing and cools you off in hot weather like the kind we have in south Florida. It is super sweet!
Then, we headed to Guayaberas, which is a shop that sells Cuban clothing. They sell traditional Cuban shirts and hats of different qualities. A typical guayabera has four pockets, which were traditionally used by farmers to hold guayaba, or guava.
From there, we went to have some churros at Churro Mania. Churros are cylindrical pastries made from fried dough. They’re popular throughout Latin America and Spain. They can come topped with cinnamon sugar and you can dip them in chocolate, dulce de leche, or hot chocolate.
My favorite churros of all time are in Madrid. These classic churros were topped with brown sugar and were thinner because they weren’t stuffed. They’re similar to funnel cakes or elephant ears and are crunchy on the outside and spongy on the inside
Then, we stopped at El Pub Restaurant to have some Cuban empanadas and a Café Cubano or Colada. It’s basically a double espresso and contains lots of sugar. Locals typically pour the Colada from the large cup into smaller cups to share it with others.
The empanada de carne contained minced meat, onion, garlic, cumin, bay leaves, picadillo, and olive oil. It was stuffed with tons of meat. I loved how big and juicy it was.
El Pub Restaurante is very famous-lots of movies and TV shows have been filmed there, including Ballers with Dwayne Johnson!
Next, we headed to get more sweets at Azucar, a Cuban ice cream shop that sells 80 flavors. The Abuela Maria is the signature flavor, but they also have key lime, guayaba, Nutella, Pina Colada, Platano, and even Coca Cola flavors!
Outside, I tried the Abuela Maria, which contains cookies, guayaba, and cream cheese. It almost tasted like one of my favorite Spanish snacks, membrillo.
It’s super sweet and full of amazing crunchy and creamy textures. It was the perfect palate cleanser after the empanada and an amazing way to end my food tour of Little Havana!

Ur videos r awesome 😍 Fan from India🇮🇳
I watch your channel and it is really great. Chef tommy.
What you said about a colada I am with you 100 percent. I live In Miami also and I frequently drink a colada by myself with no little cups. Who needs cups when you are drinking for one.
I am Haitian living in Little Havana, right on Calle Ocho(8th Street). Haiti and Cuba, Two nations whose food have been blessed by God.
My only advice is to park your car and tour by walking from one end of the street to the other (between 10th and 19th Avenue). If you don't have much cash, focus on the food and avoir clothes and trinkets. Taste as many variety as you can. Split a dish/finger food with friends so you can order and taste more different dishes.
Enjoy!
What’s some good Haitian restaurants in Miami ?
Some good tips.
That's It! I've had it with this social distance isolation. I'm packing my bags and going to Miami for a food tour. 🌅
Jaja yea here we still social distance but we are a lot more open!
I was there last week. It was a fantastic tour. We stayed at Margaritaville spa/resort in Hollywood Florida. We took Lyft to Little Havana and went on the food walking tour. Our tour guide was Miguel. We had an awesome time. No one is social distancing in Florida. People are enjoying their lives! I loved it!
Cuban Sando + Mojito + Miami = NEEDS!
I'm spending a couple of days in Miami after a cruise and I plan to eat and dance through Little Havana the whole time! I will start with the Food Tour & I can't wait!!

Those Guayberas & Panama Hats are Beautiful!😍😍 Do they have Guayabera Dresses too?
the food looks so rich ill make to make dozen of trips to the restrooms
Crazy! Being Cuban I take our food for granted cause I was raised on it, but honestly… it is delicious! Btw… idk how you ate all that is such little time… there is a saying my family has always said when someone eats a lot in a short time “según come el mulo, ca-a el c-lo” (had to block out the words!) 😂🤣 Great video!!!!
David. You have to go Cuba. The country itself
oh, she rocks....
Leaving to Miami next week . Any top places you recommend me to try in Little Havana that you love
Tampa Number one cuban sandwich
I want a Cuban sangwich 😁😋
The LaFruteria is on W. Dixie Highway, while the other places r on 8th St. From 8th St, can we walk to the LaFruteria for pressed sugarcane juice? We're going to do this 4 my daughter 's BD.
Hey David , you forgot in India we add a little lime juice ,some chatt masala, and some ginger juice. That makes sugarcane juice perfect.
Wow, David that was a lot of sugar. Though everything looked delicious. Next time i visit my sister who lives in Miami I'll ask her to take me to little Havana.
I’m from south Florida and I drink out of the big cup
What do the mojitos you drank taste like? 🤩🤩🙌
15:06 Nah, she's wrong. Instead of donuts in Miami, we don't bring Picadillo Empanadas, instead, we bring Cuban Pastelitos to a morning office meeting, breakfast, etc ...- baked phyllo pastries filled with either... sweet guava paste, ground beef, cream cheese, sweet coconut, etc....
David what was the name of the place you said was your fav Cuban Sandwich. I live here in Doral retired military. I love finding the local spots. My fav is mexican food but all food is good food!!!
I love a sandwich that you can barely fit in your mouth because there's so much stuff on it. The bread should not be the main thing on a sandwich. Love from Korea🇰🇷💕
Does anyone know how to get to calle ocho by bus (from south beach). I know i need the 120 to get off the island but then i get confused which bus to take and where to make the connection downtown. I think its the 120 to get off the island and get on/off the 207 at NW 1 AV & NW 1 ST.
Sure ! 🤣
😊👍
My favorite RUclips food channel !!
Tony Montana mang ! A political refugee from Cuba mang !
Shoutout plzzzz
So much sugar... 🤪 The hat looked good on you.
We have sweet stuffing in India instead of meat.
I want you and volpe together brother 🙌🙌
Thumbnail looks like indian food vlg😜
How much for one of those hats!!??
Brazil
Damn old havana restaurant wouldn't even give me a seat, really weird. Said they weren't taking any more customers. Made no sense. Maybe because I was dining alone and they didn't want me using a table..Went to El pub instead and got the Cubano sandwich there.
