    After watching Marcus Pix I got a little used, boxed nx500 for £380 on an Ebay Auction last October. I totally agree with your comments and if it had a viewfinder it would be a perfect camera. However I am also now looking for an NX1. Why did Samsung stop making these great cameras?

    • @ogcameraboi
      @ogcameraboi  3 года назад +1

      We are in total agreement my good man! I love my NX500's and I too am on the hunt for an NX1. They are amazing cameras, and I guess poor Samsung couldn't gain enough market share to justify staying in the camera game in a profitable manner. I'm on a mission to get them to reconsider, and maybe get back to making cameras one day. Fingers crossed!

    • @ogcameraboi
      @ogcameraboi  3 года назад +1

      @@muhittincankorkut6094 That is a good and valid point. Luckily, there are still plenty of batteries for sale on eBay for now, but I suppose that may become an issue at some point. I personally have many batteries because I have so many Samsung cameras that take the same battery, so I have over ten of them. Hopefully that lasts me a long while, but maybe I will get a few more in preparation for the scenario you describe.

    Great video, I had an NX500 but sold it to get a near mint NX1. The NX1 is a joy to use, great EVF and so fast. Luckily, I was able to pick up an NX300 for £40 not as good as the NX500 but still very competent.

    • @ogcameraboi
      @ogcameraboi  3 года назад

      Thanks my friend. I appreciate the support. I like to use my NX300 when traveling, and underwater with a plastic dive case I picked up pretty cheaply. I think you even paid less for your NX300 than I did for the ones I have. It's my knock around camera, that I hope doesn't break or get damaged, but that I won't feel bad about taking with me to places where those kinds of things may happen. I agree that it's definitely not as good as the NX500, there is no question about that, but it still takes excellent pictures, and pretty good video too. I envy your NX1, and am still hunting for one reasonably priced. Fingers crossed that I find one! Cheers!

  • @velvetrooster5569
    @velvetrooster5569 3 года назад +3

    The NX500 does not have the processing speed that the NX1 has. The NX500 also has a different image processor than the NX1 as well. So while they are both pretty evenly matched on most aspects, the NX1 is the better camera. That being said, the NX500 is still one of the best 4K cameras available. I actually use my NX500 for vlogging with the flip up screen and the NX1 while having a tilt screen it does not have a vlogging side or top flip screen. I so really love the fact that the NX1 has zero crop in 4K video. The 4K in the NX500 is great but that crop is awful for vlogging. Still it is pretty great 4K on the NX500 though. That all is great and these two cameras are great.

    • @ogcameraboi
      @ogcameraboi  3 года назад

      True true...I have no doubt about what you are saying my friend. The NX1 is the flagship and better camera. I wish I had one, but I'm still on the lookout for one. I agree about that crop, it is rough in 4K. I like how good the 1080p is though, and find it to be pretty great for just about all applications. Still uncropped 4K would be really nice. Thanks for watching!

    I bought a Samsung NX1 with 3 lenses and a polarizer and an ND filter and a camera bag and even an 2nd battery. The kicker with this is that I only paid $800 on eBay. The seller claims to be a knowledgeable photographer so I know and you know that this camera plus the gear is an absolutely fantastic deal. I got a 75 to 300 Canon lens with an NX adapter. I got a 30mm Samsung lens and I got a 12mm Rokinon lens made for the Samsung NX mount so I don't need an adapter to put it on the camera. I got 2 batteries with the camera and my point is that it was an incredible deal I saw on eBay just for the camera by itself. The Samsung NX1 really does still retain it's value. So the fact that I got all this stuff with the camera as well for only $800 is amazing. People that still enjoy Samsung cameras know that this was a hell of a great deal. I love this camera and I love the quality that this camera can produce. I love my NX Mini as well. Samsung made great cameras back in the day and I'm so glad to see so many people so giving love and appreciation to Samsung NX Cameras. I love NX500 as well. I love the NX30 too I just really live Samsung Cameras.

      @OG Camera Boi I have the Samsung Galaxy NX and it's based on the NX300 platform while having the touchscreen and android operating system from the Samsung Galaxy Camera which I have as well and love. I put the modified firmware on my Samsung NX1 And that allows the H. 265 Kodak which already records information with twice the detail as the standard H. 264 codec While retaining twice as much information and I bumped the bit rate from 80 which is standard on the NX500 and NX1 up to 160 bit rate. 1 I also got a new MacBook Air with the emergency and it does so much better anal in the H.265 codec even iMovie which is what I use for editing can handle it. I used to have a hard time editing videos from these 2 cameras because I had a 2015 MacBook Air. Honestly I think it's the M1 ship that's allowing it to work better on the computer itself just playing the videos and on iMovie editing. 1 I used to have no problem editing video from my NX30 camera because that records in the H.264 codec on my 2015 Mac. With my NX1 and my NX500 I could not play the video properly because it would get stuck on one frame but the sound would play perfectly and I could not edit the video properly for that same exact reason. That's probably the biggest problem that Samsung had with these 2 NX1 and NX500 higher quality cameras because the rest of the Samsung camera line uses the H. 264 codec which wasn't a problem for most people. It's weird that as you get better quality cameras you realize that having a good computer that can handle that higher quality footage is Is very important for good photography and good video making. You don't realize that because the computer you had could handle the videos that you made fine until you brought in a new higher quality better camera. For me that was going from the NX30 to the NX500 and NX1.

      I know a lot of people saying that you need a flip up screen so you can see yourself in frame when you're vlogging or you need a flip out screen so you can see yourself when you're vlogging But I believe if you know where the frame is with your camera and that lens and I do for all of my cameras then you don't need a flip up screen you can just hold the camera point it at yourself and talk to the lens and make good vlogging videos. I know this because I originally started making videos talking to the lens without a flip up screon the cameras that I started with.

If you are asking about the lights behind me, I used a pockelite F7 RGB light and set it to an orange hue, and in my lamps I have these cheap RGB bulbs I bought off of eBay that I also set to orange. If you see my new video, I added an LED strip light to the back of my big monitor, used the Pockelite F7 to do a purple background from the side off screen, and then set the bulbs to green. The RGB lights are fun because you can always change the colors up for something new. If you need any help or advise, ask away, I'll be happy to help you where I can! Peace out lil home girls!

      Hello and sorry for the delayed reply. Well the adapter that I use for my Nikon glass is a pretty cheap one that I bought off of eBay. It's a simple NX to F mount adapter, that from what I can tell is generic. Keep in mind, it's all manual. So manual focus and aperture, so hopefully your glass has an aperture ring too. From my experience, the cheap adapter works great, and holds the lens and camera securely. I also paid less than $20 for it, so it's hard to complain. Thanks for watching!

    • @ogcameraboi
      @ogcameraboi  Год назад

      Sorry for the very late reply. Surely by now, you probably bought something. You know when I think about it, I think the 16-50 f3.5-5.6 kit lens might be your best bet. If you want to step it up, and aren't afraid to spend more, then the 16-50mm f2 -2.8 S lens is really a nice piece of glass, but about three times the price if not more of the 16-50 f3.5-5.6. Obviously at f3.5 it's not the best for low light, but the pancake 16mm f2.4 isn't stabilized, and neither is the NX500 as you know. The 12-24mm f4-5.6 is a really nice lens too, but again not stabilized. Depends how much you move. If you are going to walk and talk, I think the kit lens is best. If you're going to set up and stand in front of a tripod, I'd look at the 16mm f2.4 or even better I think is the 12-24mm f4-5.6. Of course for low light f2.4 will work best, and it is a very nice and small pancake lens. Hope that helps. Let me know what you got, I'm curious now.

    • @ogcameraboi
      @ogcameraboi  3 года назад

      What up Angel! To be honest, I do not know that. I use Windows 10, Lightroom 5, photoshop elements 2020, and Davinci Resolve for video editing. I know that in Windows 10, I couldn't do anything with h.265 because windows didn't recognize the codec, so I was converting the files to h.264 or prores before importing into Davinci. Then I found out that if I paid $.99 for the codec reader from the windows store, all of that nonsense didn't need to be done, and then h.265 was recognized by windows, and importable to Davinci straight with no converting necessary. I would suggest trying to open any h.265 file with a windows media player, and if it says "cannot read file, purchase codec from windows store" then go to the windows store and buy the codec. It's worth it for a dollar. I would be skeptical though, because I know that Microsoft doesn't support windows 7 anymore, but since this camera is older, and they only stopped supporting windows 7 last year, maybe they have a codec reader already for Windows 7. It's worth a try. When I bought that codec from the Microsoft store, all of my h.265 problems went away. Good luck Homie!
