It’s easy to mark the exact time and place this collection was born: October 25th, in a Queens photo studio. That morning, as my team and I watched Steven Klein shoot Cindy, Claudia and Naomi for Balmain’s latest campaign, we were in awe of what was happening in front of the camera. The poise. The professionalism. And the amazing power of confident women who are aware of the singular beauty of their own bodies-and the effect that they can have upon others. This collection aims to channel some of the impressive, positive power that we witnessed four months ago, in part by celebrating the sensuality of a woman’s natural shape-focusing on and emphasizing those beautiful curves with the introduction of a new Balmain silhouette, which relies on our atelier’s innovations in and mastery of the traditional arts of corsetry.
You’ll note some other distinctive elements of this collection, as well: Fall 2016 also introduces new colors to the Balmain palette, with an array of light grays and pastels. Soft fabrics, particularly rich angora and an array of suedes, help provide a distinct contrast to the collection’s corset-inspired shapes, transparent lace tailoring and lingerie-focused designs. But above all, the diverse and beautiful group of women owning today’s runway helps underline what my team and I believe to be the most modern of outlooks for fashion today: a celebration of the natural beauty, shape and strength of every woman.

Looking at how wide the fashion industry is now, and how many trends have come, gone and will surface, it's hard for EVERY designer and brand to come up with something BRAND NEW every single season. What I love about Balmain is that most designs are simplistic, but there is a clear twist that makes their clothes their own. If you put all the clothes of several labels together, you'd spot Balmain in an instant. The basic pattern has remained the same, but Olivier takes inspiration from all over the world (this season seems to be very Victorian). His taste my not suit everyone, but there's something unique about it.

I always come back to runway videos like this because of the music. Brilliant! It's amazing that Balmain actually has live music, must feel like heaven to put on decent clothes and walk in this godlike music.

If there were ANY fashion show I would have wanted to be seated in, it would have been this one! This show was absolutely stunning! From the Stunning fashion to the moving orchestrated music to the overall feeling I got from this show. If this line is meant to make a woman feel beautiful, STRONG and fearless, it delivered on all points! This collection moved me in a fantastic way...

This is such a beautiful, breathtaking collection but I wish there were less of those "social media celebrities" walking the runway... It's a distraction to the Balmain clothing. It feels like attention gets distracted towards the model when it should be all about the clothing.

I really think this brand is getting better and better! It's amazing and a vast improvement from the 2007, 2008 collections. This brand for me started growing on me around 2009. When OLIVIER started! :)

My favorite Balmain collection of all time! Now (2019) I really don't like it.. I miss the old Olivier so much the collection on 2016 was so much realer so much more feminin and so much more soft and beautiful
All of these pieces are fabulous. Slightly toned down, or by just wearing one piece, they could totally be worn out without looking ostentatious.
