thank you. Porter is still with us and stable, loving and social. He is being maintained on prednisolone and gabapentin for pain control, and supplemented with cartrophen, B12, and Assisi Loop Lounge total body treatment. He has had diarrhea >1 yr, always just outside the litter box, but manageable with large absorbent pads underneath. His breath is very malodourous :(
Thank you for sharing. Our cat probably also had lymphoma cancer. We discovered it quite late that he was not doing well as we had the same issue of one cat eating his food. He was always a calm cat so him sleeping a lot was not suspicious. We first thought it was FIP and had to travel to Netherlands to get legal treatment and diagnostic tests. When all tests came negative for FIP, my cat was already very weak. His tongue, paws and veins were white. He lost of lot of weight. He got food via feeding tube. That’s why we didn’t do biopsy, because we were afraid that he would die on the operating table and we wanted to be with him in his last moments. He was about to turn 3 years old the next month. It has been one month since we “put him to sleep”. The guilt is really hard to grapple with some days, could we have done more, should we still have gone for biopsy? But yeah, when you are running out of time it feels like there are no right choices. I want to give everyone going through this a big hug ❤ as a pet owner, it’s a big burden to carry in such moments to decide what’s best for you pet. You just try your best you can and that’s enough.
Oh Eva 💔 we are so sorry to hear about the loss of your dear cat. It sounds like you did everything you could for him and in the end spared him any further pain and suffering. Sometimes we are put in a position where there is no right or wrong answer, merely an array of options each with their own pros and cons list. You did what felt best for you and your cat in that moment. 🫂 Guilt is such a normal emotion in grief, one that can quite negatively impact our healing. It sounds like he was very unwell and going through with a surgery for biopsies would have been a higher risk option for him. You absolutely said it best: You just try your best you can and that's enough ❤🩹 Thank you for sharing your story 💜🐾
@@petcomfortvet Hello! My cat has been having liquid diarrhea for two months now. His biopsy results confirmed GI small cell lymphoma and we started chemo with chlorambucil yesterday. Prednisolone by itself wasn't doing anything. How is Porter doing? Does he still have diarrhea?
@@vitormartins800 thank you for reaching out, I'm sorry I missed seeing this until now. Porter is still with us and stable, loving and social. We tried Chlorambucil, but he didn't accept it easily, and so we discontinued it. He has had diarrhea >1 yr, always just outside the litter box, but manageable with large absorbent pads underneath. @@petcomfortvet Hi! I'm sorry to hear that Porter is still having diarrhea. In my experience, that was the worst part of the lymphoma, as I was never sure if my cat was absorbing any nutrients from his food. My cat's stools went back to normal after about 1 month in taking chlorambucil and by now he's gained all of his weight back. He's not taking prednisolone any longer. Now it's just chlorambucil and a daily Omega 3 supplement for his kidney disease. What about Porter? Is he in a good weight range despite the diarrhea? Thank you for replying and I hope Porter remains stable and happy for a couple more years. 🐱
Thank you. To speak with others about our beloved pets and this particular diagnosis would be very helpful. The decline is devastating and community support would help.
Imagine all this for a non vet who has to pay for all this? I took my Silver Bengal to an ER vet on Jan 1st. After xrays, abdominal ultrasound, fluids, B12, antinausea meds, etc. i took her to a holistic vet who did a fecal transplant. She passed away that night and it was awful. Im pretty sure she cane to visit me that night. A few hours later i found her lying on the bathroom floor, etes fixed but still breathing. Took her to the vet to get eitha ized but she died before they gave her the shot. There was a gush of fluid that i was NOT expecting. It was awful.

Hi how is Porter?
He's still with us ❤️
He's still social and has a great appetite. We're struggling to help him with his diarrhea though
