Haha I love the call out! If we didn’t have people pushing the limits and figuring out what we can get away with then we would all have our cars built by a shop. Love the content. Keep up the great work!
thanks this made me less nervous lol. btw ive seen people wrap the drill bit with bunch of electrical tape about an inch past the tip to prevent punching through and hitting the oil pick up or anything
Hey, Im a plumber and just so you know when you thread or tap pipe its always a good a idea to squirt oil onto it while you do it or you're going to end up chewing the threads u should just use motor oil same viscosity and weight as the car instead of thread oil
Guys on suprafourms and ls1 tech do this all the time. Also, those socket holders blow, I run screws in the for leverage. Awesome work as always hunter.
I drilled my 4.3 Chevy aluminum oil pan, and didn't use any grease but, blew air through my breather. First pilot hole about an 1/8" air at 3 to 4 lbs, low, then turned it up to where i could feel the air blowing out the hole. Same with the tap, you can see the air was blowing the chips out. EZ PZ
I own a truck shop and have done that with fuel tanks for accessory..but have not once done it to the most critical section of an engine..it's worth your reputation to take another hour to do it properly..it may or may not work the way your doing it But it's that other 5 percent of metal that gets in to turn things upside down lol..just wisdom from a guy that's been doing it professionally for 20 years..and by no means am I knocking you..good luck
I agree. Always a good thing especially when doing a job like this. Fresh pan gasket, inspect the bottom end and even one metal shaving is too much. Only time I don't care is when I'm drilling for an egt probe on exhaust manifolds.
If it’s your vehicle I’d say go for it. But idk if I’d do it with someone else’s vehicle. If I was working with someone else’s, I would rather be safe then sorry. All that aside good tips and I always love to see the do it yourself people not at a dealership shop or something. Keep up the hard work buddy. 👍🏼
I had always wondered how could anyone drill a hole into an installed oil pan and not have the shavings fill the pan. Learnt something today. And I guess if you have any amount of shavings escape the grease trap, you could use a powerful magnet to bring the shavings to the drain hole?
I have never done the rtv on npt threads ill give that a try sometime , i agree about the teflon tape , leaks half the time so i started putting teflon tape on and the liquid teflon or ptfe sealant some call it and have had no issues since doing that
I just torched my harborfreight socket after drilling a screw in center. They are crazy for how hard it is to get them out. Its not petty when you purchased 100's of there sockets.
I’m gonna use the aluminum piece inside the pan I wish I knew this before I removed the pan. I’m going to tac weld the 2 outer bolts my pan is metal and I done this to many cars without a issue, Where did you get the exhaust flange that fits mine is a 3 inch? That turbo looks like mine the ar for the exhaust housing is a 93....got a 3000 torc converter....if that doesn’t work with spooling will probably call it a day and use a 50 shot of nos that activates on take off. To handle lag.
Hi your vids are excellent and your attention to detail is bang on. I'm a truck mechanic and no little about tuning or about adding turbos. But I am learning from you. Is this a b series engine...? Will you need to fit modified injectors to this after turbo install..?
Hey what's up man thanks for the info Question... where can I find a rebuild seal and bearing kit for a garett t3t4 and about how much will it cost Thanks
When you put the sandwich plate on for the oil feed line. Do you have to have a sensor with it connected to the sandwich plate? or can you just have the oil line from the sandwich plate and close the other holes off?
Yo i have a question what size turbo was that and what fitting did u use for the oil return that screws on the turbo right before u clamp the oil return line??
@@HunterTuned cool !!! I fell in to a little depression and getting back into my 48/49 SOHC build that eBay drain kit isn’t making sense … thanks will go that route
So did the eBay turbo oil feed lines and other shit leak? I bought eBay turbo feed oil lines lol 😂 and intercooler kit which so far hasn't had an issue.
is there a way i can avoid drilling the oil pan for the return line? its got a tiny factory turbo but I want to run a compound turbo and maybe tap off turbo #1 for the drain and run a sandwich plate for the feed line? Idk what Im doing haha
Greese trick does work lol jus did my pan off the car guess what.. 0 metal in pan. I went and got a steel -10 an line and welded it on. Local shop sell em 10 bucks. But ive also had good luck with the rubber hose and clamps.. but does the barb hold thread good with no nut on the back? Pan seems too thin to be threaded..
Yes the pan threads actually hold good. Seems thin but I’ve never had issues. Helps when you use a punch to fold the metal in and that way you get more metal to thread
Thanks for vid bud . So ur able to hv material to tap as ur drilling into an area of the pan where u drill through the pan and bafel correct ? Also im keeping my a/c so could u please trll me where on pan i should drill my hole d15bvtec

I really want to do a budget turbo build on my 2006 tiburon 2.0 I don’t think there’s a need to take the front bumper off during install. Are you in Canada? I would get my stuff installed by you
Boosted Civic there will Be oil that comes out of the hole when the motor is full. Although when the engine is running it is below this level. Hope that makes sense
@@210pitmasterjoey I know it's 8 months later but you want the return line as high up on the pan as possible. If your oil is full on the dip stick and you were to disconnect the drain line from the oil pan, the oil should not come out of the turbo drain hole in the pan.
Nice work. In case someone has an oil pan that's too thin to tap a bulk head fitting works too. Magnafuel has a - 10 an bulkhead fitting that has a stat-o-seal washer, (2) o-rings and another washer with a beveled edge for one of the o-rings to help create a leak free seal. All of this is important in order to create a sure seal & this fitting is originally intended for use with a fuel cell where a leak could result in death lol not all bulk head fittings are created equal. Before you decide to drill through your oil pan make sure that you verify 2 things. Make sure you don't place your fitting somewhere where there will be inferference with an oil pan bolt or stud. I've seen it happen. The other thing to watch out for is that there isn't any interference between whatever fitting you decide to use and any moving parts inside the oil pan. I've seen some fittings ( especially bulk head fittings ) that are longer than needed. Another thing, please remember that a cold start sees high oil pressure and believe me... This is where we experience a much higher likelihood of flooding the CHRA with too much oil. Nobody hangs in high rpm long enough to flood the turbo... With that being said, GL friends.
why doesn't anyone ever show how they cut their oil return line. I've got a nylon hose and I've got no idea what to cut it with. everything I use just leaves the hose all frayed and messy
I have a f20b, h22 turbo kit for it and got gram injectors and they do not fit!?!?! HELP PLEASE they go in but are way longer so I can't bolt the fuel rail back on cause the studs are to short what should I do
HunterTuned i dont know ive never really messed with hondas like that, all i know is they're 1000 cc cause i was gonna go e85, I did think about changing the studs out but I didn't know if they were able to do that or not because I've never turned one apart and I didn't want to mess up the intake manifold if you could send me your email or email me at martzjoseph@yahoo.com i can send you a picture when i get back to home Saturday

What about aluminum oil pans ? On a civic

How long was the oil feed line you used? 36" or 41"?
Can sombody explain where you put the olie feed line where to hook it up on a engine
You can use a sandwich plate adapter on the oil filter or use a npt adapter where the oil pressure sensor is
This vid is dope asf, very informative
Hello Hello Hello! Very informational! You da man! Hunter be driving...with boost...in no time.
How do u fit the oil line under the intake manifold as it is ma last part to do ?
