Bluetooth was a standard described by Ericsson, Nokia and IBM and the hint it in the name Harald "Bluetooth" was a king that unified/conquered most of Scandinavian region.
Ball bearings were not invented by SKF, they were for a time the best at producing them and did significant improvements.
Mobile phones? Lul Wut? Sure, Ericsson again was heavily involved in setting standards (NMT and GSM v1) but first wireless (radio phones came out of bell labs.
Color graphics and Mouse, are claimed by Håkan Lans. And there might be some validity to that, but he has failed every time he has gone to court.
      Zipper, not really but kinda.
GPS, I have no idea what you are referencing, but NAVSTAR 1 was a DoD/DARPA project.
I would not call Linnés work invention as such.
Padlocks have been around since before Sweden was a country.
I don't want to denigrate our contributions in the realm of tech, but some humility and correct terminology is needed. What Swedish engineers and inventors really have excelled at is improvements to existing designs, sometimes evolving them into brand new things.

    • @tommyrobinson9862
      @tommyrobinson9862 Год назад

The ability to think dosen´t come from socialism my friend. The groundpillars of socialism is colletivism and having a big state, which is completely contradictory to the ability to think for yourself. We have smart people here, but we also have a hivemind that just likes to follow and don´t think at all. We had socialdemocracy for almost 100 years. Before that Swedish people where pretty united as a people with the introduction of folkskolan, peoples school. For several hundreds of years Swedes also could win over a nobleman in court, something that was unseen in Europe around that time.
So the Swedes have also become very loyal to whoever is in charge, cause there has been a relative trust between the two. Maybe some are smart but we also have alot of mentalities here that set us back and don´t let us think critically or rock the boat when its much much needed. Colletivism also makes people afraid of being different or think different which results in further backlash as a nation and the inability to see things that happens to our own country with clear eyes.
When it comes to America I think the "best thing" for them would be to relocate some money from the military to healthcare instead, this would also relieve stress and strain in society in a very positive manner. Free education would also be a dealbreaker for good society where every person has the chance if they want to. You dont need socialdemocracy for this, just up the taxes a little little bit or stop spending so much on the military.
Here in Sweden some people pay 50 % tax, that is just evil. And we have taxes on absolutely everything, still is not enough cause or socialdemocratic goverments like to give it away to other people and countries and so forth for decades. 60 % of immigrants since 20 years back still live on welfare today in Sweden. That is a shitload of money the people never gets to see cause our goverment didnt want immigrants to work.
We also have 40 "clans" that rule the criminal underground today according to our own police. But it was long ago we had any clans in Sweden! These are not vikingclans! So how did they end up here? And how are they still here?
These kind of problems isnt something you talk about in Sweden because of the collective mentality Swedes have. Very sad. Meanwhile Norway, Denmark and Finland dosent want to "end up like Sweden". Thats the general conception of Sweden right now. xD

Do not confuse socialist with social democratic. And being a social democratic country had nothing to do with Swedish ingenuity, as both its demographics and geography played a huge factor. Sweden was a homogeneous country with a small population living in a large country that demanded ingenuity for survival. The same can be said about the Swedish military throughout history, which always had to punch above its weight to make up for the lack of manpower, and consequently, Sweden is still today called the father of modern warfare by historians. By saying socialist, you claim that most Swedes support a political ideology that, for that matter, changes constantly in the country. Today, for example, Sweden is a conservative country.

The dynamite, the computer mouse, the modern propeller...and Swedish chemists discovered many chemical elements that are used in advance science today: selenium, erbium, terbium, yttrium, ytterbium. Scheele discovered oxygen independently from Priestly and Lavoisier. He also invented the pigment Scheele's Green, that was later developed into the much more (in)famous Paris Green.

Håkan Lans, may or may not have invented computer graphics and the computer mouse. He certainly claims to have. But there are a lot of question marks around who was actually first. I think it is safe to say that he invented a handheld pointing device. And a way to display computer graphics. But he sure has lost a lot of patent fights, if he really was first.

The one with the zipper is not completely accurate (though also not completely wrong). Sundbäck invented the first zipper that was really useable for everyday life. But the modern zipper with the design we know today was later invented by the Swiss Martin Othmar Winterhalder.
So the invention of the zipper was quite a multinational and complex invention: First invented by an American, then improved by a Swede and then the final improvement by a Swiss.

The town I live in in Sweden has burned to the ground three times and one of the reasons was because children, who were not allowed during the service on Sundays in the church, had to stay and wait in an outhouse outside. and people know how children are and when it comes to touching things they are not allowed to do. but the whole town burned to the ground because the children were playing with matches. but honestly it was the adults fault, they should know better.

This might be controversial, but there is a claim that the inventor of the COMPUTER MOUSE is the Swedish military defence scientist, Håkan Lans. (Well … the guy who officially got the credit - Douglas Engelbart - seems to be of Norwegian descent, so …).
Oh, and let’s not forget Carl von Linné, the inventor of attaching an official, international (Latin) moniker to every plant and critter on earth. (Says the “homo sapiens” who loves to pet his “felis catus”).
