- I'd not caught the practice display of the Spanish EF-18AM on the lead up to RIAT 2017, so I nearly spat my tea out at the start of the display. The F-18 does not have vectored thrust of course, but this pilot sure knows how to get the most out of this jet.
The F-18 is known for being able to achieve very high angles of attack (or alpha) to perform extremely tight turns. This demo shows that trait really well. Watch again at 2:56 as the pilot puts the Hornet into another super high alpha turn. A cracking display!

Cool flight performed at rather low speeds! (more tricky to pull)
Definitely not vectored thrust though! lol :)
UK Aviation Movies: No thrust vectoring for sure, but great energy management and excellent flying by a highly skilled pilot, as if he dreams about flying the F/A-18 every night. He probably does. Wright Flyer, USAF (1968-1972).
Are you sure this is a Spanish Hornet????. EdA tends to be very conservative in its air displays. For sure, this jet jock had some serious flying skills!!!. Really cool demo!!!.
100% Victor. You can see the Spanish markings at 2:13 :D One of the best F-18 demos I've seen 😎
@@UKAviationMovies, still a long shot from the Finnish and Swiss Hornet Solo displays last year but a great one nonetheless. From a Spanish guy!!!.
Es un piloto ESPAÑOL y un F 18 M español.... Ya he visto éste video en otros de RUclips, y desde otras perspectivas, y te lo confirmo 100% el que sale en la imagen es un piloto español y un F 18 M español.
