Finally someone who ties the knots slowly enough that anyone could follow, and they dont manage to get their hands in the way at the most critical time. I subcribed and bookmarked! Thanks
The very last knot that you show, the Palomar, is arguably known as the best and strongest knot around. And to be fair, one of the simplest knots to learn for folks new to fishing. It was the first knot that my father taught me and the first knot that I taught my two sons.
@@Epidemike nah… it depends on the diameter of what you tie it to. Big slippery split ring… monster size hook…. Use Palomar knot. Cinch knot everything you can. It does not break at the knot ever. Mono and floro will slip in the same situations as braid with the cinch. All you gotta do is pull test your knot when wet to make sure it bites. Totally fine for braid. Polamar won’t slip… cinch won’t break. Line don’t matter. What you tie to mattersz ❤
After fishing for 60 years in San Diego, California both fresh and saltwater. I wish somebody would make one of these videos. That was interesting and new.

The first knot is wrong. If you don't want to lose a fish ,the tag needs to go through the hole in the line, then back up through the bigger hole you create
I have been very amateurishly trying to fish and learn these knots as a 'sailor' for a long time. However, most of these knots here are magnificent, easy, very strong and hadn't seen anywhere before. Thanks a lot for sharing. Regards from uptown Canada.
@@FishNFoolLures wrong, I've learned this from the old professional anglers folks. I know a lot of different tie knots but this is one is my favorite because it's faster safe and it never let me down.
My grandpa taught me that not and I used to love it but since switching to saltwater I’ve had it pull through on me more than once. It’s a great freshwater knot though
Meh....there wouldn't be a knot called the IMPROVED Clinch Knot, if the OG Clinch was flawless. You don't fix what isn't broken...and someone along the way decided they should fix the Clinch 🤷🤷🤷 And anyone who's spent a life fishing, knows exactly what I'm saying. There's not many feelings in life that're worse than that feeling you get, as you're staring down at this squiggly/curly/twisted up end of your nauseatingly empty ass fishing line....where only moments before, was a HUGE hard fighting TANK of a fish. A fish SOOOO big, that it made your knees weak when you caught that first glimpse.... RIGHT before the knot failed. You go from feeling you're on top of the world, to feeling like you got hard kicked in the cockNballs. You're sick to your stomach. All because the clinch knot pulled apart.... 🤬👎
That’s why, on a mooching salmon boat, when I noticed the deckhand tying everyone’s bait with a clinch knot, I told my nephew not to let this guy touch his gear, and I tied improved clinch knots for us. Sure enough, on a hot bite, more than 80% of the hookups became clinch knot failures. Didn’t happen to me or my nephew, though. The boat must have thought if they fish the fish out, they’d be out of a job. Aldo, when my nephew’s 20 lb king came to the boat after 2 laps around, the deckhand took the net and bopped the fish on top of the head, and Zi lost it; cane after him. The skipper pushed the deckhand away then after the 3rd lsp around the boat, he gently netted that king for him. Man I was steamed up but the skipper did the right thing. No fish that got away from us that day! Improved clinch knot was the bomb!
@@godly2k i lost a nice pike spoon using this knot like 2 days ago. I thought it was the knot, but no, it was the braid itself that ripped. If done right, this knot wont slip at all.
Making a return to freshwater fishing it’s surprising how you forget some of the best knots and where to apply any knot in particular such as for hooks, hair rigs, and swivels etc… here in N.E. Wales in the UK my main quarry is large carp, Wells Catfish throughout summer but in winter I use lighter tackle so to air on caution you may catch a big fish so these knots can be the difference between losing a good fish and blanking in the cold puts you on a downer so this video is best I’ve seen! In UK we call some knots by a different name. Tight lines everyone from (near) Liverpool.

palomar is the best, but i was always taught NOT to use this first not with braid because it pulls through.

My favorite is clinch knot it's simple and easy and it works every time.
That is just about the weakest knot you can tie. The only thing it beats is a granny knot.

The very first knot, my grandpa showed me. And still the knot I use today. Some fourty years later.
Exactly the same here. Its the only knot i ever used with all types of lines and never had a single problem with it.
With braid you will lose 100% of your big fish if you use this knot. It will slip.
