  • Pep Organ is back for 2023 with the beautiful Prelude and Fugue in G Major composed by Felix Mendelssohn. This work was composed between 1836-37, when Mendelssohn was in his late 20s. These works were seminal in the Bach revival movement, especially in the organ scene, as Mendelssohn's prelude/fugue pairing and use of counterpoint clearly points back to the Baroque master. However, Mendelssohn's own romantic sensibilities seep through the work through, from its melodious prelude to the rather orchestral treatment of the texture at the end of the fugue.
I apologise for the delay in our uploads- unfortunately I am still recovering from my tennis elbow injury, and remain unable to practice extensively.

Beautifully done. At 76, I am committing myself to brush up my Mendelssohn and learn the movements I had never tackled. So I looked this up, and am very encouraged by its beauty. Thank you. Keep posting!

Enjoyed your music. Question please: What kind of tablet and app are you using for organ music? How do you turn the page? We should all have that!😍
