  • Here is a drill press clamp that you might be able to make with just scraps laying around in your shop. Feel free to modify my clamp and show me your work.

Thanks for the tips. I'm going to make this clamp, although instead of the bicycle tube I'm going to use heat shrink tubing to slip over the end and heat up. I might need 2 or 3 on top of each other to get the effect I'm looking for. Thanks again!

What is the thing that you are using to hold the screw when filing

It is a really cool gaget that has 3 magnets on each side to hold it in place. It is made out of a soft plastic or rubber and has cut outs where you can hold dowels, bolts, etc at different angles an horizontal. It is great for apllications where you want to cut wood, brass or copper and have no scratches. Here is its Amazon address:

Ummm why didn't you just drill out the inside hole of the washer or use an angle grinder to remove the extra metal instead of filing for half an hour ??

I don't own a reliable angle grinder and I never thought of drilling out the washer. Also, sometimes I just like using my hand file.
