Wow...I need to revisit. The last time I wrnt into the market circa 2000 maybe it was still just rows of tables in the middle for stall holders and permanent stalls at the edges. Great video...thank you
Great video. Lots of memories. My dad did the topping out ceremony by laying the last brick. He was a town councillor and vice chair of the Markets Committee. Coincidentally I now live in Aberdeen where the architect came from.
Good vid. That's my mate Dave on the bric-a-brac barrow. I still would like to know why half of that complex is unused {Mardol Building I think you said?}. I always thought it could have been an entertainment venue or at least something!
Hi Malcom I very much appreciate Your continued support. The Kingsland episode should be coming in the first half of 23. I thought I would’ve done it by now but the weeks go by so fast. So sorry 👍
@@thirdratecontent585 much appreciated When you are filming, the episode I live in Canonbury, if you want to come in to one of of the converted Edwardian houses, which have been converted into apartments, you’ll be more than welcome
60's modernist and brutalist architecture really didn't stand up to the test of time. Though I wonder if current steel and glass boxes will hold up any better!
A lot of these steel and glass mechano/Lego buildings won’t even last 30 years imo. In fact in places like Manchester buildings like these of the last 15 years are already being replaced. Quick money for developers from off the peg disposable building projects 🧐
@@thirdratecontent585 too true, same with modern houses, cheap materials, poor construction, not like the old Victorian buildings I find still standing in the woods after 50 years abandoned 🤣
It’s become a landmark. However it’s not the most pleasing thing to look at. Maybe in a couple of hundred years people Will praise it 🤔 lol tho I doubt it 👍
60s/70s new build architecture, was always a bit misplaced, moreso in towns. Your market, not too bad in comparison to some, serviceable, but talk about mix and match, it was the same all over! Yuck! Well some anyway!! Great vlog, Thanks TRC!
They always look worse in town/city centres. I agree it’s here it’s not going anywhere and it is what it is (a pretty ugly building) Thanks for the comment 👍
I hate the building but I love the market - great video!! :)
Yes I agree it’s a wonderful Market housed in a not so beautiful building. Thank you 👍
Love Shrewsbury - good video - very individual barnet you have there Sir
Thanks and the Barnet was having a lively day the day I filmed this 🤣👍 it’s the double crown and it was over conditioned I think 🤣
Nice to meet you today mate 👍 great to see another salopian making good content about the town 🙂
Thanks mate and it was brilliant to meet you in person. It was also great to see the van is nearly ready for more quality adventures. 😀👍
@@thirdratecontent585 the first camp isn't far away 😁 can't wait! Keep on making videos and best of luck for the future 👍
Great Video Thanks TRC x
And thank you Louise 👍👍

Thank you so much. Yes it’s well deserving of its title the cocktails look amazing (amongst other things lol)

Very interesting comment, hearing stories like this adds to the film imo. Thank you

I’ll look in to that (Mardol building). It does seem odd it being unused 🤔
Always remember C.B Radio user’s meeting in the market on a Saturday in the early 80’s
Don't Shrewsbury have a lot to offer we are very fortunate to live in such a beautiful town great video keep up the great channel 👍
Thank you so much. We are very fortunate to have such attractive and fascinating to call home 👍
Cool description of the clock lol
Unfortunately not my words 🤣👍
Not suprised it's won awards it's a cracking market 👍
Yes it really is great 👍
Regular viewer to your channel, still waiting for an episode on Kingsland

Hi TRC X
Hi Louise 👍
I remember Midas, he passed away recently x
That is sad.
@@thirdratecontent585 He was a character, bless him. Mum used to get our school uniforms from him. He must of kitted out most of Shrewsbury lol
If time was a drug, the Shrewsbury Market Clock would be a giant needle injecting it into the sky.

I remember the Victorian style market as a child. Never liked the 60s replacement. Ugly, as much 60s architecture is.
It looked a splendid building! Must be nice to have a memory of it.
There were a lot of tiles, it prob looked like a large loo!! 🤣😂
