DEALING WITH SIN In Our Lives As Christians | 1 John 1:5-10

  • Let's talk about SIN! Sometimes in Christian culture we shy away from talking about sin because it's offensive. It's offensive to hear that something we are doing is sin. Instead, we opt for softer terms like talking about how we are broken or how we mess up. Those things are true, but it is also true that we are sinners in need of grace - and we cannot talk about the sweet grace of God without first recognizing our sinfulness that brought about the need for it. In this video we are going to be studying 1 John 1:5-10 to see what is says about how we are to deal with sin in our lives as followers of Jesus. 💛

Ughhh... That disgusting 3 letter word! I remember before being saved running to sin and not thinking twice about committing it. Ever since being saved, whenever I sin, I wanna rip my flesh right off me! The believer will never escape sin until we are at home in glory! Praise the Lord that day will come! Good video Kaci!

It's really easy to see that people who do not deny the flesh are not truly happy. If indulging in whatever brought us temporary pleasure truly made us happy, the world wouldn't look as it does today.

I dont Really have any community who believes in the Lord and value the bible. I used to be in New age and wasnt raised with the Word of God ~ nobody around me really believed, and told me about Jesus and the Bible. It was more a cultural thing. Jesus found me, and lead me to the bible himself. It have been a blessing to be alone in faith in many ways, because it taught me to turn to God. But It's nice to watch your videos ~it makes me feel less alone and I feel like im listening to a friend and sister in christ. I thank God for youtube💜 Thank you for serving the Lord and the church with these videos, and your kindness 🌸

    Great video! 👍🏻🙏
2 other consequences of non-confessed sin:
    1) We tend to minimize our own sin more and more as you discuss in video. And as a society this act leads to minimizing what actually is sin. Many people do not see certain acts as sinful acts today as they should.
    2) Then what follows from there is - who gets to decide what is sin and what is not?
    Peace!

Its so so important that we have to go research and investigate into what God considers sin (off the path in original definition) and why Yeshua came as prophesied rather than what we believe and think is sin by our own personal fluctuating standards of right and wrong, good and bad.

I know that’s is the Holy Spirit convicting me saying , “Why did you say that or why did you do that?” I just keep asking him to keep working in me. My mind, my heart, and spirit. I know I’m not who I was before. I just ask him to give me the courage to never go back to who I was and to keep working in me. I know I’m not perfect but I really try to be better than who I use to be. 🤍

Hey Kaci, I woke up and saw you'd uploaded and had to pull out my pen and notebook straight away, this was an excellent message thankyou, it's refreshing to talk about Sin. 1 thing I'm taking away from your talk is that confession leads to freedom and isn't something to lock away, neither is it a punishment to awknowledge our sin. I often thought the same and it's great to be reminded of God's love to us and faithfulness and whole reason why he sent us Jesus. It's great to talk about it. I hope to remember all you've said and not be so defensive in the future should someone point out to me my sinful ways. Thankyou Kaci, have a blessed week. ❤️

I have personally always had trouble with condemning myself when I sin and not truly believing that God has forgiven me because my shame and grief was so great. I love this video because I learned that confessing your sin is not a bad thing or does not have to be but it is a good thing for God to relieve the sin from you and bring it to the light. Thank you for this video. I hope many people see this video to learn this as well, that you do not need to run from God or your sin.

I only have one question, surely confessing our sins to God alone is sufficient enough (he is the ultimate Light to shine on our darkness)rather than also confessing to a trusted community, especially when some of us don't have a trusted non-judgmental Christian community or close friend to whom we can confess?

  • @Dannycdrummer

God requires us to come to Him with clean hands and a clean heart. This means that we need to look clean but we also need to be clean inside. I think James 5:16 (confess your sins to one another...) should be taken in context in the overall chapter. Verse 14 indicates reference to the presbyters for anointing of the sick. It also applies to Verse 16 that "one another" refers to the presbyters. Presbyters by definition is an elder, teacher, priest or someone with administrative functions.

It is a constant danger that we might start perceiving faith as an escape from the difficulties we face in life, including the burden of responsibility. That's why I was never a fan of the whole 'Jesus take the wheel'. It always sounded like an excuse for not taking action and for not accepting responsibility for the action that we did do.

Hi. Here is a few words about my own experience. When I confess my sin to Jesus I try to be specific, it can be one word or a whole sentence. How much you talk is not important, what is important is that you understand what you did wrong. Pray and ask for help.
Second you ask if there are many sins. If there are many you will need to take more time from doing other things and pray. Take notice of repeated sin and pray about it :) Jesus helps you all the way if you are willing.
Ask anything and we can talk about it :)

Grow your faith through reading your Bible, and worship! And when you have troubles, pray and trust in God:)

Righteousness is a gift that is received when we believe the gospel. No man makes himself righteous. AND no man makes himself unrighteous. Unrighteousness is received by being in Adam. Righteousness is received by being in Jesus.
Thus, 1 John 1:9 is not about those in Christ, but about those in Adam who "confess" (agree with God) that they have sin which needs forgiven and to be cleansed of all unrighteousness. Forgiveness of sins is in Christ, and is received when we turn to God, having believed that Jesus died for our sins, was buried, and raised for our justification.
The ONLY people who are lying if they say they have no sin, are those who have not been forgiven or cleansed from all unrighteousness. Obviously, anyone who has been cleansed of all sin (vs 7) by the blood of Jesus, is not lying when they say they have no sin, they would be lying if they said they still have sin, after having been cleansed. What an insult it would be, to the blood of Jesus, to have been cleansed by His blood and still claim you have sin. In Christ, there is none unrighteous. Paul tells us that those who have been reconciled to God are the righteousness of God.
Who are we to undue what Christ has done?
