"Next year in the new Jerusalem" ... even so, come quickly Lord Jesus, our Prince of Peace!

I've observed Pesach for the last 4 years with my wife who is a Messianic Jew; this song brings so much joy

“The city we long for” and the face I long to see. Your words help me imagine the ‘Way, the truth and the life’ to the door that will be opened before me to walk into the City whose light is the Lamb of God.

Because I love to read the lyrics and others may as well .....
I made my way to the western wall, as the sun went down, I could hear them call for you
And the words I heard in the ancient song were the same as the ones I’ve sung so long to you
And when I touched the wall, the veil, it never felt so thin
Cause, you are the Rock and the Cornerstone, You are the temple of flesh and bone
And you are the door and the way back home again.
    Chorus
To that city that we long for, that we feel so far away
Where the dawn will drive away our tears
And we’ll meet in the New Jerusalem someday,
    Maybe next year
At the western wall I bowed my head, I knew that every word I read was true
As the prophet spoke from another age, and the song rose up from the sacred page to You
And I never felt so near, I never felt so far away.
But You tore the curtain and shook the ground, the saints woke up and the walked around.
And resurrection came to town that day.
    Chorus
Like in that city that we long for, that we feel so far away
Where the dawn will drive away our tears
And we’ll meet in the New Jerusalem someday,
    Maybe next year
This is the place where Abraham cut lose the boy and he killed the ram instead
And this is the place where Jesus said, you could tear down the temple and he’d raise it from the dead
And, You never felt so real, I never felt so close to You.
So I’ll weep and dance at the western wall and sing at the way you’re making all things new.
Cause, the kingdom’s here, but I know the kingdom’s moving in
So maybe I’ll meet you here next year, in the New Jerusalem, in the New Jerusalem..
    Chorus -
In that city that we long for, that we feel so far away
Where the dawn will drive away our tears
And we’ll meet in the New Jerusalem someday,
    Maybe next year

Love that I am seeing this a year after he put up this song. I had a rapture dream that I was a bride and being told that Jesus was coming to get me. Since then I have had other rapture dreams, and I look forward every day to that being a reality. There are very few "Christians" who are really living for and longing for Jesus' return. The Spirit and the Bride say come!

“The city we long for”... yes! I went to the Western Wall earlier this year and I understand this. I love how you said, “The Kingdom’s moving in.” Come quickly, dear Jesus!

It’s present at the beginning as well! I believe what they’re singing is “L'Shana Haba'ah B'Yerushalayim”, which means “next year in Jerusalem”

I've been listening to your songs this afternoon.I came looking for you after seeing the video of Chris Tomlins' rendition of Is He Worthy song. I was listening to the new cd before I buy it. People were posting that Chris didn't write that song and the original was recommended for us to listen to.So here I am listening to this playlist. I like this song a lot It's more like a story. I love it! I've been really stale with my Christian music lately maybe I need a change. Chris Rice wrote songs like this.I like him a lot too! The Lord wants me to listen to you more. Right now anyway 😋 ❤️✞❤️

This was a terrific song back in 1996, when it was written by Counting Crows and called, "A Long December."
