    I'm not about doing the whole mental gymnastics again, if youve come to criticise answer these 2 questions first
    If YOU dont like it, Why should it change for the majority?
    If im disrespectful for this take why is it perfectly respectable for you to call current healing brain dead?

    • @AdeptPaladin
      @AdeptPaladin 27 дней назад +7

      Your first question is nonsensical, given that there's been plenty of changes not wanted by the majority put into the game. The recent viper changes is just one example.
      To your second one, healing isn't a person. It doesn't feel or care what you do. It's simply a largely useless role in a game clinging to the husk of the trinity in gaming. Those who play the job, and voice disagreements about it, however are people and there should be a level of respect even if you disagree.

    • @GENKI_INU
      @GENKI_INU 26 дней назад +3

      1. The entire healing community has been asking for changes in healer gameplay to be more involved than pressing one button FOR YEARS.
      2. Because frankly, you are being disrespectful yourself. Two wrongs don't make a right, and there are plenty of legitimate criticisms. But the only attention you attract are toxic and non-constructive, because that's a reflection of the rage-bait content you make.

    • @Dididererste
      @Dididererste 21 день назад

      @@GENKI_INU the entire healing community hasnt been asking for this, if you played through content and actively enjoyed ff14, doing all sorts of content, you would see that people struggle with healing already. Hence why they keep adding more and more healing actions to other classes so they can be involved and help out in a pinch.
      most of you dont get the point, why healers only have 1-5 damage actions, you are supposed to be looking at teammembers and mechanics in order to heal up everyone, and you constantly have to adjust in every different group you join. so you get dps players who fuck up from time to time in savage, in extremes, normal content, same as tanks and you, as healer, have to constantly adjust and learn to deal with those situations. so your argument of "ONE BUTTON FOR YEARS" is the most insane shit i have heard. oh you want them to have 15 buttons for damage just like the other classes while also having the 20 healing buttons?? so i have to focus on my whole rotation , every other player who can fuck up any second, boss mechanics aswell???
      oh yes in a perfect world , where no one makes mistakes, where everything is written down perfect .. then you would need 15 buttons more for a dps rotation, but you sir, quite frankely are over your own head on this one.
      having played this game since shadowbringers, doing extremes, savages, normal content, bozja/eureka, for years now, with every class and mostly on tanks/healers , i can say with confidence that there is quite a few people who never use mitigations as DPS role, a few people who use their tank mitigations wrong, quite a few healers who are overwhelmed when situations get tough and other people make mistakes.
      so quite honestly, im positive that the healer role is good as it is now.
      tanks are also the most broken classes they have ever been, they shouldnt have so much self healing, warriors being able to solo content designed for 8 people.. or them tanking/self healing enough to being able to go 3dps 1 tank in dungeons is also bad.
      so next time dont speak for a entire community, and please get some real experiences before doing so.
      upload a video of you going into every extreme the past years, you and your other healer are only allowed to click ONE BUTTON, and then yu will have your answer quite quickly , why in FACT you cant just press one button.
      take care. o/

    I agreed with the concept at first--that maybe WAR is a little too OP, but realized it only applies to a perfect run where no one makes any mistakes.... and how often does that happen in DF? I've been playing healer recently just for fun and I'm having to rez and rescue people left & right. Maybe when everyone is a master-expert who never makes any mistakes it's fine to not have a healer but as soon as people start making mistakes and taking vuln stacks not having a healer is gonna turn into a right disaster real quick.

      @@swiftxrt sadly, this seems to be something of a common thread I’ve noticed since this whole drama started. The people complaining about how “healers are irrelevant” lack media literacy and basic comprehension skills, since they fail, time and time again, to understand that “dungeon finder” isn’t “dawntrail” or that “perfect run by 4 god players” isn’t “literally the rest of the player base”
      It’s kinda sad, but I wish these people the best. Maybe one day, they will return the kindness.
      Also, is it just me or are the people doing the healer strike not actually healers? Like, I’ve never seen a healer main complain about “healers being useless in DT” just dps.

  • @Sechari
    @Sechari 29 дней назад +13

    Let me preface this by saying that, while I’m a main healer, I wasn’t part of the strike for the simple reason that I pretty much only do high end content and none of the issues people raised affected me.
    That being said, as far as I understand it, the complaints were mainly about EW and how healing was indeed more boring and easy than in, say, ARR. There’s a problem when expert dungeons are easier to heal than lvl 20/30 content. As for “no single role is strictly *needed* for dungeons - sure, but doing a 4 man with 3dps/1t is easier than standard comp bc it’s so much faster, where as doing 3dps/1h is slower and decidedly not easier.
    Like I said - I don’t do normal content if I can absolutely avoid it so none of that affects me, but I do understand where those people are coming from. “Okay, so do high end content where healing is more engaging” - unfortunately high end content is locked behind the requirement of either committing to static hours every week, or spending hours waiting in partyfinder 🤷‍♀️
    “Okay, but striking won’t help” - then what will? There have been threads for years talking about this. It’s true that the strike ended up not changing queue times, but it did get media attention I guess?
    “This is dividing the community!” - it is because there’s a lack of solidarity and empathy for layering who bring up legitimate issues, not because players are bringing up issues. Like I said, none of this affects me, but it’s not hard for me to muster up the empathy to understand why others would be bothered.
    In closure, I actually think the healing in DT has been a lot more fun than it was before (I did do normal content to get through msq obviously), but that’s probably in huge part due to the fact that barely anyone was synced down. I’m not sure if this was just natively going to happen, or if the years of feedback did something.

    I remember telling a friend of mine about some of the demands being made and he was dumbfounded by them wanting to effectively remove abilities from the kits of Warriors.
    Mind you, he hasn't played FFXIV but he does definitely know a thing or two about the importance of maintaining the kit of a character/class (he plays Smite).
    The whole strike from the get go was dumb in my eyes, as those leading the charge didnt have any endgame clears and the rest who followed them couldn't make up their minds about what they wanted. Its was a disjointed mess that felt more like a cry for attention rather than a desire to change the game to make healers fun.
    Also, if I ever ran into a healer who decided to queue up then grief the dungeon because of the strike, I'd either report them or chew them out. Protesting is fine, i support protests. Once it starts to negatively impact others though, thats when I take issue. At least in FFXIV, whole cities won't become the modern day equivalent of Dresden

    You can even do that with Paladin and Gunbreaker, and Switch out the Red Mage with a Summoner.
    Hell... why don't we just run a 4 man DPS, I'm sure a few party configurations can get the job done... I'm curious as to how they can manage Tank Busters... BUT if AvyCatte could do it with all healers, I'm sure it wouldn't be hard to figure out.

    I play all roles in ff14 but I’m a tank and melee main (specifically DRK and RPR, yes, I go brrrrrr a lot :3) and so long as the healers I get aren’t toxic fuckwits, I do everything in my power to prop them up, bolster their voice and make sure they aren’t stressed, since I’ve been the neglected healer. It sucks when a healer has a bad tank that acts as if by you existing they have a permanent invulnerability bubble up and can do whatever they want with no care for consequences, or when you have that one brainlet dps who tries to collect vuln stacks like their freaking limited edition Pokemon cards. But that’s the exception more than the rule. I think the general player base could be a tad more considerate to healers since, while they might not be top dps or pulling all the big bois in a dungeon, for all but the most elite players, a healer is the sole thing stopping you from dying. I’m a tank, and if not for healers, how would I be able to do my job? Mitigations can only help so much.
    TLDR: don’t believe the strikers. We love all you healer mains because if we didn’t have you, we wouldn’t have groups or clears. Sooo, let’s all relax and watch the sunset in tuliyolal, okie?

      I end up using my whole kit in dungeons since the start of shb BECAUSE of the difficulty with wall to wall pulls and in trials. It's just more efficient.
      And then I hear "all I do is spam glare or cure 2" ok are you in ARR??? "No I'm doing high level content" and it's wall to wall? "Yeah" HOW... I'm burning through most my kit just getting to the boss vs the expensive gcds which again are expensive so they're bad to spam

    • @Gunthersby
      @Gunthersby 29 дней назад +2

      Think the leveling experience can be very dull as Healer unless the party is making frequent mistakes, I would say maybe it'd be nice if Healers had a more fun kit for attacking, but then that gets in the way when you actually need to heal, which isn't rare.
      If Tanks had less self-healing, that could in casual and perhaps "midcore" content help the Healer not feel so vestigial, it may not be where the challenge is at, but it's still where you devote a significant amount of time.
      That said, if a player doesn't enjoy the healer kit, maybe it's better to play another role? Or maybe try PvP? Personally I like playing as Scholar just fine
      But of course you do have to remember not only are the job mechanics all the same, the fight mechanics are too! For as an extremely wise man once said, to complete any mechanic: "just stand and let thing resolve"

    Strikes need considerable backing and/or cause considerable disruption to be effective and thats just not possible in an online game like this.
    Like you said participation is a better way to get complaints and issues adressed. There's still no guarantees, for example DRK has NEEDEd a defensive boost and self heal... basically forever. Before GBR where it was top of the tank DPS... cool. But GBR has better defensives AND better DPS. It even looks like the last bastion of "Why platy DRK" (A better opening burst) is also going out the window for GBR.
    Some things can and should be changed, but other things are just part of the game (For example I doubt Healer's are going to get a real DPS rotation.) A strike is just not going to work. Organize a healer sit in or something with an itemized and supported list of concerns.

    • @hundset
      @hundset 29 дней назад +1

      On the topic of DRK, it's a bind... you could have them do higher dps to make up for low self-sustain, but dps is the alpha and omega of the game, so it could quickly go cursed in terms of a meta... I don't recall if it was that bad during that period of time in EW when DRK did do close to the most dps of the tanks.
      Personally I don't mind needing to "work a little harder" to stay alive, but pandora's box has been opened and as much as I could say "bring other tanks back down" that will simply feel bad for those jobs... Also I have to admit it feels bad as a DRK main to get to a point where I think. "... I could cheese this a lot easier if I was one of the other tanks" (although I'm not someone who likes to solo a boss with considerable hp left, seems rude and inconsiderate to the other party members).
      I'm not sure what the solution is, I could only imagine the devs are reluctant to do much more about this because of fear of accusations of job homogenization.

    • @mechaulfr9600
      @mechaulfr9600 29 дней назад +2

      @hundset yeah, running DRK can be pretty rewarding in that "I have a tough kit, and I'm still kicking it!"
      Personally I think the thing to do is to up their damage. The tanks are nearly in harmony.
      Pally and Warrior are natural main tanks, GBR and DRK are your off tanks. The former two have better self sustain, the latter 2 have better damage.
      That makes perfect sense to me. Specially looking at the level 100 kits.

      @@MythSamael I think it was arcanist and thurmaturge. At any rate if you look at the dungeons we got in dawntrail, the EXs, and the kits all healers got... We got what we wanted.
      You know these people on the forums they don't know what they want. They have the audacity to make it sound like they are bored in Savage and Ultimates it's bs.
      Their complaints are always nonsensical and incoherent.
      Originally they wanted all healers to have DPS rotations like how Tanks have their 1-2-3... when they got eventually talked down to just adding a few dps buttons which is more reasonable.
      And we did get that this expansion. Glare 4 is no Aero 3 but it feels very satisfying to use. They also managed to avoid button bloat by repurposing buttons to have dual functions.
      They've done their homework.
      Now when I started playing back in the day Whitemage was the worst healer among the three. We had our day in Stormblood where we finally became too good to refuse.
      But even in the old days to now you could always run with whatever. A lot of the people who complain to me sound like jaded Scholar or Astrologian players... but the gods honest truth is things never changed that much as a Whitemage. Now people think about things like Cleric Stance or fluid aura as if they made our job deep and complex.
      They didn't! Needing an on/off switch to dps is terrible and is about as skilled as turning on a faucet. You weren't weaving fluid aura for it's 150 potency.
      You were spaming stone. Or spaming holy.
      So a lot of these jaded healers... they can't be coming from the Whitemage side of things. Scholars and Astros would make fun of us for being simple healers all the time all they want to do is lord their superiority over others.

It's folk like that who truly make me stand by my statement of "The end user rarely knows what they actually want."
    Also not to mention how the whole "strike" began after the Media Tour, so that expansion wasn't even out. It's very possible that they made it easier so that Joe Schmoe from IGN who has never played an MMO in his life is able to complete it. After getting into the expansion, while I'm only MSQ 93/94, content really feels like it needs Healers, unless you are just a partied group of trained professionals.

    From what I understand healers just want more dps buttons or I assume that's what they want because there is nothing they can do to healers that will make them happy...I mean your job is based off keeping the party alive and if everyone is doing mechanics and properly mitigating then the healer's job becomes much easier and obviously more boring or as they put it, brain dead...you can't give them more healing options that'll make it even easier. You can't upgrade skills that'll make it easier. So give them a couple buttons they need to press every 2 minutes and that will shut them up I promise you. The healer strike is indeed dnmb and if I didn't know any better I'd say the strikers forgot the fact they are playing a healer not a tank or a dps and they're actually complaining their job is too easy when in fact there was also a time nobody wanted to heal because it was too hard smh

      @@MythSamael you're right going backwards doesn't change anything, but if you compare their kit to other roles the healer's are the only ones building up/saving resources they will most likely never need if the raid goes smooth. Heck even if not damage skills more mitigation wouldn't hurt but that will imbalance the whole shield healer vs pure healer balancing they been trying to do....but ofc all this will not change the logic behind the strike which makes it so stnpid to begin with. I also think the healer strike is stupid, however the one thing I would agree with is that dungeons should gradually get to a level of difficulty where healers will have an easier time by using their entire toolkit to gently teach them to use it not just for emergencies. I say this as having played whm through all levels of difficulty in the game and wanting to see other people get the satisfaction of feeling the accomplishment of twirling through the dungeon like a goddess giving life and erasing evil. In saying that, Dawntrail achieves this to some degree. It's a good start, I am interested in seeing how they continue this design.
    Personally I played through the DT msq as whm, I queued duty finder, and I went into pf to help some poor dps with queues when it was full of people offering to sell their service as a healer to dps for gil 🤮. Healer strike is kinda stupid.

      @@MythSamael I agree absolutely. When I say they got close and I want to see how they go forward with it I should clarify that the difficulty feels about right as a stepping stone to extreme and savage, but I hope they continue to introduce more extreme and savage lite style mechanics like the two dungeons already released have, that are paced slower than savage and extreme and give a fair chance of recovery but also test the same mechnical skills in a "safer" less stressful manner so all levels of players can enjoy a sort of "endgame" combat. It's not my job to constantly be pumping out HPS, as though I was playing WoW, my job is to fix other peoples screwups, and the occasional heal up after raid wide damage. If my party knows the fights, well, time to be a glare mage (or Broil my enemies alive in my case). And honestly, as someone who does a lot of Duty Finder and Party Finder content, I'm GONNA be needed, because people are going to screw up, maybe less so in dungeons, but dungeons were never meant to feel difficult. Doesn't stop tanks who don't know that mitigation is for trash and not just bosses from existing, though, so that's always a thing I'll deal with on occasion.

    Strike?
    Well it's not working. I haven't even noticed a healer shortage.
    They should do something more productive which would get more support across the board, like a written letter/petition signed by as many as possible & then send it to Yoshi P.
    If that doesn't work, just give it up as you can't get your own way all the time.

    This healer strike imo really dumb. People who part this strike seem more focus dps let tanks and team die. I understand tanks can SOLO alot things but there TANKS there supposes be last one to die unless it a stack/special mechanic. Even then they can dps if they "Just maintain hp correctly". You want make healing fun? then appreciate what you have NOW. Not what it should be by a standard only fit for selfish wishing. Lastly as someone who plays all job healing and dps at same time is not hard just practice and get GOOD at your jobs, READ YOUR TOOL TIPS.

      Literally me with Viper. I was frightened about the seemingly complex class until I started practicing more. I won't say I'm god tier but I've gotten the general feel and flow of Viper to the point where I became a positional crack fiend.
      I even managed to clutch two Dawntrail dungeons while leveling Viper with a tank after the healer and other DPS died. I hope the duo clutch thing is a trend for me going forward since I love clutching boss fights. I even remember doing it in Aloalo Island where I solo'd the fairy as a Machinist and impressed the whole party with how quickly I figured out the mechanics (thanks Destiny 1 raiding days). The revolver mechanic is a beautiful mechanic and I hope it returns again someday
