This trick helped me a lot! My dad soon gave me his old phone (iPhone 7 Plus Gold 32GB) and this worked amazingly! When my dad gets his new phone (iPhone 15 Pro Titanium 1TB with accessories) from his friend in Germany once his friend travelled back from Germany and my dad gets his friend from Queen Alia International Airport! Now I can make an iPhone 7 Plus Gold 32GB customised!!! Like and comment if you will!

probably already resolved your issue, but I'd be suprised if using a steak knife once can cause enough damage to preclude the use of a screwdriver in the future

If you have one of those rare 1.5 mm pentalobe screws, the knife trick will not work. What worked for me was a flat screwdriver of the same, 1.5 mm size. Gently rotate until you feel that it grabs the edges. And it will grab, quite well. Then unscrew.
