I think everything Andy says about the solutions to Tam's problems, is all stuff I learned playing OG games like double dragon and streets of rage. Target the weapon user first. Don't let yourself get surrounded.

Tam’s problem is he keeps comparing it to Sekiro when it’s nothing like that except the difficulty. It’s like a harder version of Sleeping Dogs that only focuses on CQC

@@vibezworldwide I mean some of the mechanics are definitely lifted from Sekiro. The parry system and the posture system both come right from that game.2
@@vibezworldwide I haven’t played the game so I can’t speak on it personally, but when a game like Sekiro does a similar mechanic better, as people, we base our opinions on past experiences. I totally can understand where Tam is coming from. That said, there are 3 positive reviews here and 1 negative. I have this game preordered and excited to play it.

I haven't beaten the game yet but I'm currently age 32 on level 4 and I'm completely with Blessing. This game teaches you through experience and combo recognition it's definitely more fun than difficult.

It does say something about how "Here just play it" the game is when 5 people who are all playing it all have different ideas on what they think is the way to "reset your death count" or whatever else and all of them saying totally different things about what they thought the go to moves are to get things done.
You don't tend to see people talk like this in a review, even these guys will usually frame it as themselves not getting it, but they're all agreeing that they were just making up how to play as they went along.
So I played it alot last night. Incredible game. I’m with Tim, Bless, Andy. "A must play” in my opinion.

I mostly agree with Tam on this one, but damn, all this Sekiro comparisons just suck ass. He talks like it's the same developers, or the games are trying to be the same thing
I’m so hyped, but sadly, the early access is broken. It’s stuck at 0000 with a download arrow, but it still says “Pre-Order”
If only thing i found weird about Tam critiques, because I've not played the game, is him mentioning how the level bosses had no significance due to you not coming in contact with any of them before that point. Isn't that literally the same with like 95% of all games.

I just started playing last night and the toughest game I ever played was a DMC game and I love this game. Tam kind of sounds like wants to walk into room like he's Batman, but you have to make smart kind of realistic decisions such as dealing with weapons first or maneuvering around to turn battles into 1on1s. You can't stand still and parry in every situation. I do have a problem with input where I don't know if it's me being slow or the game not registering all the inputs sometimes.
The common thing about the Low scores hinge upon the games Difficulty, that should tell u a lot

I was hoppin on everyone’s streams to ask about this game cuz I was so fuckin hyped for this game! Rise to Honor was my favorite game growing up on the PS2, and this gave me those Nostalgic vibes!
Love seeing Tim step outside the Tim Typical windows of gaming. Nothing wrong with liking what you like, but Tim gives a solid and balanced review that touches on gameplay mechanics, performance/graphical fidelity, and fun. Always a joy to hear him going hard on something new and relaying the experience. I think that coming out of your comfort zone and box even in a hobby like gaming is tough and surprising. I discovered a lot of genres I skipped in my 30s that are new faves.
I really can't wait to play,of only the early access issue gets resolved quickly.
Tamoor said something about the input lag and having to wait for the character to complete a move that made me realize that was exactly the problem I had with Absolver. It's not satisfying when the character doesn't respond to your button presses immediately
Would that be input lag as to me it sounds like they decided to make a player decided when to attack and not to mash buttons. Once you commit you can only block or dodge after you attack animation has finished . I think it makes sense after playing sifu myself for 2 hours. I understand why it would put people off as it would not feel as responsive but its a shame as its a great game

Bought the digital deluxe but the pre download dates set wrong 🤣 I am hyped for sigu as this is a game I've always wanted since a kid being a massive Bruce Lee, Jackie chan fan. Plus going back playing Bruce Lee ( xbox) and Jackie chan stuntmaster (ps1) not as smooth as I pictured it in my head

Looks great and I bet it’s awesome but the preload / deluxe edition release has been a bit of a fail by Sony (I assume)… big shame that digital game releases are still locked to a single regions timezone?! I’m based in Australia and expected to have access from midnight 6th Feb, not 11pm 6th Feb because it’s locked to a CET timezone release 😑
That intro sounded like it was straight out of Shang Chi, godly.
I feel like there’s some serious false dissimilarity here regarding Souls titles obtuseness. Both Dark Souls and Bloodborne are exceedingly obtuse - Bloodborne more so, only because the genre was predefined at this point and as Tam said, it’s built into the mythos. Dark Souls is absurdly obtuse though, no way you’re going to grasp have of the systems regarding character builds, resistances, weapon upgrading/infusing, morality systems ect. on a blind playthrough. These points come across really contrived to me, especially when directly comparing them to character build and item systems in this game.
This month is just crazy. So many games! This week we get Sifu and the new Apex season! lets go
I was probably going to skip sifu with horizon coming up, but y’all have convinced me that I do need to fit this in somewhere.

I've been playing the game for most of today (i'm basically where Tim is, end of 3rd map) and I'm definitely at the point where the more I try to master this game, the more I get annoyed by very minor stuff like Andy.
This game definitely feels like Hotline Miami. The contextual locked-in execution animations are great, the tells...not so much.
On the bosses: I'm SO agreeing with Tam, the ruleset of bosses are very muddy.
I feel like the most important part of defense is the L1 evades.
Once you master reading moves and evading, the game really opens up.
Interesting mix of feedback. This game has been on my wanted list since it was revealed, but as someone who likes challenging games and especially From Software games, hearing the comments about difficulty (and the odd Sekiro comparison) makes me excited. Seems like the game's biggest problem is clarity on aspects of progression and combat rules, but ultimately the positives strongly outweigh the negatives. I'll play it at some point, but it won't be for a while due to bigger games this month that I'm more hyped for. Especially Elden Ring in a couple weeks - most excited I've been for a game since I don't know when.
Massive respect to Tam. Didn’t conform just to be positive… well thought out and structured points. Would be great to have him on the Gamescast more often… would be a fitting replacement for Imran ‘the Don’ Khan!
Those “optional” guys in level one are only optional on the second time through the level. They have keys you need.

Don't you get your death count back down if you kill enemies that would have gotten gold health bars without using finishers?
That's happened in my experience, but not consistently or it doesn't feel consistent because sometimes those stronger enemies are selected randomly.
Did Blessing's Jaw line get sharper? He's looking damn good
I have just beaten the first level and am into the second. I think the game is good to great. I was hoping for more variety in the animations so the fights feel more dynamic, but I find a lot of them seem to start and end the exact same way. The famous hallway brawl we saw in the reveal was a lot like this, every time I defeated an enemy the "finisher" was the exact same. I don't find the game super difficult, certainly not as hard as Sekiro, but it definitely doesn't explain its mechanics super well. Honestly I've been basically timing L1 with most of the strikes in order to parry and that has worked 90% of the time. I agree with a lot of Tam's criticisms but I think if its still a pretty damned good game. Its hard not compare a game like this to Fromsoft games, and I'd say when you're comparing it to the best games ever (like the Fromsoft Souls games are) this game definitely falls short. Its in the 8 range for me.

In real fights you have to control the flow of the fight by stacking people. So one of Tam's problem is that this game is setting you up to fight like a real fight, where you can get circled by a bunch of guys.
Yeah, but thats the thing, this is a video game not a real fight. Most peeople who play this game arent Jackie Chan, they just want to play a video game. So the game needs to be designed in a fair way that might sacrifice some realism.
Tam isn't confused about spacing enemies, trust me you can cheese this game if you want. It's just not as fun to use the most reliable methods in this game.
Also you don't want to stack people in this game, you want to isolate them. You don't have a ton of moves geared around attacking multiple enemies at once so most attacks will only hit one person at a time.
@@BasketCase-rr7tx yes it's a video game, no need to say the obvious. Sometimes video games go for realistic elements and different styles to avoid making the same game over and over. Listening how Bless played it, he did not overly commit and kept spacial awareness.
If you are unwilling to change how you approach a game and have to say it's a video game you might not like some games, this being one of those.
Tam's criticism raised my interest more because it sounds like it will give me a different style of fighting that's not video game style or cheap.

@@Leadbullproductions While action games can include elements of realism, they can never go for full realism, as that just wouldnt be fun. Its the same reason why every action movie in cinema history has always made the bad guys worse shots than the good guys, becuase if the bad guys were good shots the movie would be over pretty quick.
pretty excited to play this though interesting to see tams reaction as a very big souls fan(like myself) looking around it might be better to think of this game more like a challenging beat 'em up(street of rage etc).
aka I'm going to try and personally avoid doing the ok lets just learn how this works for the first 4 hours like tam and try going with the flow.

I get that the progression system is pretty obtuse and hard to understand at first. But I'd take Sifu's approach over Deathloop bombarding you with text boxes and menus for the first few hours. Let me work it out for myself rather than overload me with info.

Definitely agree with Tam on a lot of issues. The camera needs work, attacks are often too quick to read and rely on memorization. The impact of attacks feels weak due to the fighting style and audio mixing, but that's especially in the intro level for me; It felt better as I progressed. Andy is spot on that the progression is not well explained and too grindy.

Couple of problems with Tams review os that he hasn't finished it and complains due to comparing it to sekiro which is unfair. Also complains about the game having evry1 fight him and surrounding him or not seeing patterns in the enemies move. It's suppose to be realistic. Too much comparison to sekiro to take his opinion seriously.
His review is basically “it’s not sekiro and I refuse to engage it as it’s own game. It should play like the other game I like”
Shoutout to God hand. Also, Tam said he loves fighting games. I better see him talking about KOF 15 when it comes out. So many outlets overlook that game and it's depressing. Lol

Why do they keep bringing up Sekiro when it sounds nothing like it? lol
Both Sekiro and Sifu have meters that fill as you take/land hits on enemies until you can perform a finisher. The meters look like each other in both games.
Also the parry system fills it up in a similar way and even coming back from the dead in the spot you were is reminiscent of Sekiro.
I can see why it came up, but yeah they aren't the same.

@samthishan24 Yeah its definitely not an easy game. But Tam was comparing it closely to Sekiro and his negative points seemed to be based around that.
I'm at 1h8mins and he has spent 95% of this review pooping on thr game. The 5% was talking about the pretty art and how he thinks it's "good".
I would have liked to know about more of why he thinks it's good.
