His auto-shock is only on enemies that maya cannot phaselock, and I believe there are a few exceptions (like certain big bosses). I kinda understand that they didn't want him flying after buzzards, but it is so sad watching him just zap threshers
@@wavern1030 Not much? Put on some strong roid shield and that's some insane damage on anything that he hits with melee skills, provided you slag it. The only problems deathtrap are related to his AI, he has some of the worst in the game and his inability to hit 90% of bosses with melee is just the cherry on top that completely cripples him in most scenarios. As it stands, he's just a glorified meat shield for anything he can't melee.
Same my guy if only the ai wasn't so bad I wouldn't have to go for other characters if I wanted to have fun. I mean gaige is fun but deathcrap being so ass takes away from the mechromancer so much
Maybe it's designed to be bad bc Gaige is still a teenager. Like she's a genius but is still too young to have the experience to improve Deathtrap's AI.

You can build death trap to be op with melee against reg enemies in UVHM, but then he sucks against bosses only using his weak electric lazers that do lil to no dps

My favorite things about these challenge are finding the obscure strats to get through some parts like the cars in the dust. And that feeling of “it’s possible” after every big challenge. Loved this video homie!

I killed him cleanly on both my first two characters. Then got obliterated with my psycho. And got a surprise he escaped and gave purpose to the gulag beyond a side quest.
For One Two Boom, Gaige would have to use the starter pistol to detonate Deathtrap's electric orb for about the equivalent damage of roughly 8 seconds of melee attacks over a large AoE. I don't think enemy guns or barrel explosions can detonate the orb. It has to be activated by friendly projectile fire.
@@OmegaIL He's openly stated Gaige is his least favorite character to play and despises the playstyle of her. And any time he plays her, he uses the only truly viable build, which is anarchy stacking. She's just a character he doesn't use, nor does he care to know about her in the first place. Don't be an asshole just because he doesn't know literally every single thing about the game or a character he's probably only played a handful of times many, many, MANY years ago.
Deathtrap was much more useful earlier around launch. After scaling and things were rebalanced for UVHM release, Deathtrap is completely useless halfway through TVHM outside a few builds. But he becomes completely useless in UVHM with basically any build.
I wouldn’t go as far as to say he’s useless with a Roboteer Build, just that Roboteer makes Gaige WAY weaker than she would be with a Catalyst or Anarchist Com instead.
I personally like gaige, I just wish her damage was better, I like her voice lines, and just her personality in general, her skins are cool too and her default head and skin is by far my favourite for any character even tho it's the default skin
i have played her.. over 500 hours on her. she just doesnt have as many builds as any character. she has a single build and thats anarchy. claptrap build is horrible, shock build is horrible.. you literally have more damage when matching elements then doing a full shock build. she might be good with shamfleet but every character is
I noticed that you didn't go for anything in the health upgrade area if I remember correctly one of them allows you to not just upgrade your own health but prolong how long death trap can stay out
It's called "pony up", as a person who used to play this game religiously, as a gaige main, it would add like 5 seconds for every kill and the best farms for it were after you kill Jack and any area with large groups of enemies
Challenge idea, you can't drop or sell any weapons you pick up until you complete the takedowns (or OP LVLs for bl2). so you'll have to drag low level weapons to their fullest, with only 50 weapon slots for the whole game can you do it?
Wow, that's unbelievably creative. I reckon he would go for a melee build. Rapier + Love Thumper combo can last from level 18 to 30. From there, it's honestly just The Bee farming and going for unique blues, like the Lady Fist. Zer0, Gaige (with her Anarchy) or KRIEG would be ideal, KRIEG especially, considering his action skill is basically just melee. Would definitely be fun to see Joltz coming around these problems lol. Just commenting so you have a bigger chance of him seeing this.

Yooo 13:06 there is actually a feature where if u repair the beacon a certain amount of times its just auto win. So just shoot and drop you're gun. if u drop you're gun before the bullets hit the becon it will deal enemy damage
This is definitely an interesting format to put your content in! I can’t wait for more, although I do wonder how you plan on handling longer runs that go into OP levels and such
It really is frustrating to see. Deathtrap could be so powerful if his A.I. was better and he cycled between attacks for the situation or even better if you were able to target enemies and get DT to use specific abilities.
Leaving this comment just for the dedication it took. I count this as a complete run! I always thought DT was really strong and would make a good character to speedrun because he could clear enemies behind you as you just run, but I guess that only works if you are super overlevelled. Just discovered your content and loving it. Thank you!
Would you consider doing this in BL3 but with flak and only using his pets for damage? I feel like it would be the opposite of this, where it would be hard and tedious to begin with, but get easier as you progress
Ive done that its crazy fun I used the messy break up shield for my pet and loader bot and spider ant and the fact ur pets can revive u makes it easy too. what joltz is doing here is insanity I tried it a long time ago but its just too much waiting for me lol. he's a warrior for this.
I think moze's mech would be more challenging, since it can't benefit from your own perks like deathtrap can, but also because it'd require you to be constantly in danger instead of hiding in a corner for an hour. But I think I've also seen it done before so it's a moot point lol
Man. This just shows how awful DT is at almost everything. Low damage per hit, bad easily confused AI, slow attacks with long wind up times which allow many enemies to to move out of the way. It also has the longest action cool down and doesn’t have enough HP to be a worthwhile tanky distraction.
I'd like to say that the cooldown of BAR is longer, but you can take damage to make it faster AND spec into RTB to get it back instantly, so yeah... Gaige is still tons of fun.

That aside, she can still really cause some havoc; she's basically Krieg-lite for shining up close and her most effective builds requiring an unorthodox mindset. Ultimately, if you're not adverse to some risk-taking and experimentation with her skill trees, she'll get you through and be hilarious while she does it.

I would love a mini-series like this. Where you go through the Borderlands games that have AI controlled skills. So Deathtrap, Sabre Turret, Wolf & Saint, and Iron Cub. But see if you can beat the games with just that.

As much as I love playing as Gaige, I was never a big fan of DeathTrap - I mostly used him as utility and a res-bot. To watch you go through the pain - scratch that, agony - of a full run of just DeathTrap damage just to see if it was possible, damn! 🤯 Kudos my friend, that's commitment... 👏👏👏
fun fact: you can skip the first constructor before bnk3r by going left of the door hes required to kill before opening there is a ledge you can jump on and just go past the door altogether or slowly kill the constructor from the way
It would be fair to call this a full DT run, since both of the places you got stuck were due to a bug or glitch, and not really avoidable without you stepping in. But damn what a run, gg!
I used to farm Exp using Deathtrap and Rakks in the warrior arena that are infinitely spawning. Just have the "gain duration after a kill" node on the skill tree and leave the game on... Other than that, only use I've found for Deathtrap is as a shield booster (and glitching pretty much infinite shield recharge) with one of the capstones. I salute you for going through this endeavor, seemed like such a slog!
Of course this counts, not only is it insane both the areas where you didn't use death trap were impossible to pass. You could either argue is not possible because death trap can't hit certain targets or it is possible in exactly the way you played it.

I first found out about warden going to the gulag because I took so long with my underlevelled weapons and I was confused to find out you could actually kill warden in his original area

Control core bugging out I feel doesn’t count towards the run being a fail, as you did everything and proved you could do everything, the game just bugged out which isn’t your fault. I say you beat the game and the run is valid, congratulations on completing this painful run, interested in seeing what kinds of challenge runs you do in the future

I wonder if this run would be possible without save editing if you farmed more to keep on level with where angels fear to tread? Being a higher level means you could've killed the enemies faster and maybe not bug the eridium injectors?
I know this kind of goes against the idea of the speedrun aspect of the challenge but wouldn't it have made sense to get a shocking immunity or Transformer Shield for the control core angel?
Fun fact the reason that Jack got stuck at the ammo crate is because he tries to restock his ammo so you can't if he activates the button you can't activate it until the cooldown resets so I guess he had just bugged out in the process of trying to do that
Joltz, why didn't you get that skill that makes deathtrap duration longer by five seconds and gives him melee damage bonus each time you/he kills enemy?

everyone forgot about the third part. but it's nice to see that someone is still making content for the second part of the game. I hope Wonderlands doesn't disappoint.
For those thinking of doing this themselves I highly recommend the Borderlands Commander mod by Mopiod. It'll allow you to speed up the game and cooldown Deathtrap quickly. Just make sure to find a safe spot in combat first. At 4x speed even a Skag Pup will kill you
tip on the captain flint fight, when you jump down to activate the fight. you can actually rejump back up where you jumped down. there's a metal hump that sticks up, stand on that and run an jump
I mean, you did the best you could with what you had available. It's not your fault the run is not possible. I will say that even though Angel bugs out when the fight lasts too long, you still made it to destroying one of the injectors, and if you did that it proves that you can get them all...this was a failure in the game's programming. The fight doesn't change, other than getting easier because Lilith starts helping.
Aside from the dogshit AI, Deathtrap does serious work if you give pick the right skills. He's most effective in the lv. 50 range, then falls off a cliff after that. Share a Grounded Hide of Terramorphous with him and slap on the Anarchy spin attack and he oneshots almost everything he's intelligent enough to attack. That is, assuming he's intelligent enough to do so. The middle tree is also the worst for Deathtrap. There's a mod that overhauls him to be more balanced.
IMA start playing BL2 again i still need to hit lvl 80 and OP10 on characters still. anybody down to play my GT is Biggah. I consider this a 100% deathtrap only playthrough... u had to use a gun strictly because deathtrap wouldnt do anything. I have tried this many of times and just couldn't take it anymore lmao... amazing run man wish they would have buffet death trap before

I would love a mini-series like this. Where you go through the Borderlands games that have AI controlled skills. So Deathtrap, Sabre Turret, Wolf & Saint, and Iron Cub. But see if you can beat the games with just that.

As much as I love playing as Gaige, I was never a big fan of DeathTrap - I mostly used him as utility and a res-bot.
To watch you go through the pain - scratch that, agony - of a full run of just DeathTrap damage just to see if it was possible, damn! 🤯

fun fact: you can skip the first constructor before bnk3r by going left of the door hes required to kill before opening there is a ledge you can jump on and just go past the door altogether or slowly kill the constructor from the way

It would be fair to call this a full DT run, since both of the places you got stuck were due to a bug or glitch, and not really avoidable without you stepping in. But damn what a run, gg!
I used to farm Exp using Deathtrap and Rakks in the warrior arena that are infinitely spawning. Just have the "gain duration after a kill" node on the skill tree and leave the game on... Other than that, only use I've found for Deathtrap is as a shield booster (and glitching pretty much infinite shield recharge) with one of the capstones. I salute you for going through this endeavor, seemed like such a slog!
Well i used to farm round 3 in the bar on UVHM.
Of course this counts, not only is it insane both the areas where you didn't use death trap were impossible to pass. You could either argue is not possible because death trap can't hit certain targets or it is possible in exactly the way you played it.

I first found out about warden going to the gulag because I took so long with my underlevelled weapons and I was confused to find out you could actually kill warden in his original area

Control core bugging out I feel doesn’t count towards the run being a fail, as you did everything and proved you could do everything, the game just bugged out which isn’t your fault. I say you beat the game and the run is valid, congratulations on completing this painful run, interested in seeing what kinds of challenge runs you do in the future

I wonder if this run would be possible without save editing if you farmed more to keep on level with where angels fear to tread? Being a higher level means you could've killed the enemies faster and maybe not bug the eridium injectors?

I know this kind of goes against the idea of the speedrun aspect of the challenge but wouldn't it have made sense to get a shocking immunity or Transformer Shield for the control core angel?
Fun fact the reason that Jack got stuck at the ammo crate is because he tries to restock his ammo so you can't if he activates the button you can't activate it until the cooldown resets so I guess he had just bugged out in the process of trying to do that
Joltz, why didn't you get that skill that makes deathtrap duration longer by five seconds and gives him melee damage bonus each time you/he kills enemy?

everyone forgot about the third part. but it's nice to see that someone is still making content for the second part of the game. I hope Wonderlands doesn't disappoint.
For those thinking of doing this themselves I highly recommend the Borderlands Commander mod by Mopiod. It'll allow you to speed up the game and cooldown Deathtrap quickly. Just make sure to find a safe spot in combat first. At 4x speed even a Skag Pup will kill you

Gaige literally has a stand
tip on the captain flint fight, when you jump down to activate the fight. you can actually rejump back up where you jumped down. there's a metal hump that sticks up, stand on that and run an jump
I mean, you did the best you could with what you had available. It's not your fault the run is not possible. I will say that even though Angel bugs out when the fight lasts too long, you still made it to destroying one of the injectors, and if you did that it proves that you can get them all...this was a failure in the game's programming. The fight doesn't change, other than getting easier because Lilith starts helping.
I'd give up on the bloodwing if not earlier, great vid as always joltz, missed ya buddy, hope the hands are healing quickly ❤️

Aside from the dogshit AI, Deathtrap does serious work if you give pick the right skills. He's most effective in the lv. 50 range, then falls off a cliff after that.
Share a Grounded Hide of Terramorphous with him and slap on the Anarchy spin attack and he oneshots almost everything he's intelligent enough to attack. That is, assuming he's intelligent enough to do so. The middle tree is also the worst for Deathtrap.
There's a mod that overhauls him to be more balanced.

IMA start playing BL2 again i still need to hit lvl 80 and OP10 on characters still. anybody down to play my GT is Biggah. I consider this a 100% deathtrap only playthrough... u had to use a gun strictly because deathtrap wouldnt do anything. I have tried this many of times and just couldn't take it anymore lmao... amazing run man wish they would have buffet death trap before
