The only things I would recommend are that you get another hideout and change to a pellet brand that doesn't have added treats mixed with the pellets. Check around now for a local vet that treats guinea pigs just in case. Not all do. Guinea pigs are very prone to respiratory diseases and would need antibiotics right away. Lifespans of 5-8 years are typical. Oh I wish they lived a lot longer. Maybe you’ve got a budding veterinarian on your hands!? 🥰🙏🏼🐹

Just a little note those hay racks can be dangerous because they can get their head stuck in it also they don’t really allow enough hay for the piggie I recommend either using a cat litter tray for the hay or a storage but that you cut a dip out of so they can get in for the hay I’d also recommend ceramic bowls as a lot of pigs flip plastic bowls and some nice soft hides for them to snuggle in they would love but the only thing you really need to do is change the hay rack the other things are just optional

Hello! your daughters new guinea pigs are very cute! the tiny one i would guess might be about 4-7 weeks old. i have three guinea pigs and i am in an activity called 4H which is an activity that is all year and during our county fair. i show my guinea pigs and if you would like you can look up county fairs or 4H. i am pretty much a guinea pig expert so i will give you some tips! everything i’ve seen you do in this video was amazing!
    here are some tips
-do not feed ice burg lettuce(it’s dangerous for them)
    -rhubarb is poisonous
-timothy hay is the best for them
-only guinea pig pellets rabbit pellets are not for them
    -keep a clean cage often
-baths at least twice a year are good because they are usually clean animals
-be careful with their back it is VERY delicate
-if they randomly get mean or change their attitude often, don’t worry it is completely normal
-if you notice lice on your guinea pig don’t stress, it does not go to people or other animals, a good way to get rid of it is GENTLY wash the guinea pig in Dawn Dish Soap using only a little one time (we did this for my sisters guinea pig and within a week or so the lice was gone) or you could go to a vet and ask them for a good treatment that is guinea pig friendly and separate the guinea pigs so the other doesn’t catch the lice
and if you would like anymore tips that you aren’t sure about feel free to ask! hope these tips will help! (and also make sure to give them some veggies at least everyday or every other day and fruits maybe 1-3 time a week considering they have a lot of sugar)

I have two guinea pigs and had them for about a year now,the cage is good and all but the ramp is way to narrow and might hurt their backs and that hay rack is not the best because they could get their heads stuck in it.guinea pigs like to burrow in hay so they will like if u put a pig pile of hay so they can borrow in it!make sure the guinea pigs a bonded!otherwise,GREAT job!I've never seen parents give their child's guinea pig\guinea pigs a good life.keep up the great work!😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁☺☺

That you so much for doing you research !!! I see a lot of people buying them those little petstore cages. Also, great choice of picking two instead of one🙏🏻

I know this video came out a while ago, but I just want to thank you for actually doing your research and not impulse buying guinea pigs like other families do. The cage/set-up looks amazing and I know they will be treated very well! :)

They only did research on the cage size.. not what was safe. I’m very proud you looked stuff up for cage size but most of the stuff IN the cage is unsafe. Idk what you’re expecting a 8-11 year old to do. She prob won’t clean the cage. All the pressure was on me at 10 too:
-pay for over 500$ for my pig
-put a pig in my room and kick out my cats & puppy
    -upgrade the cage
    -find him a friend
I was 10 & imo that’s insane but when we got my pig my mom didn’t do any research. I’m happy that you did research but pigs are very gentle creatures and poop 100 times a day EACH so it’s a lot for an 8 year old.

overall this was really really well done. you did research and made sure you had there right sized enclosure and everything. i do have a couple notes tho.
    1. try getting a couple more hides since they are prey animals, and like to hide in dark or quiet spaces.
    2. please never ever buy guinea pigs or any animal for that matter from pet stores. if you do you just promoting pet mills which rapidly produce animals without taking proper care of them, or checking their genetics to see if disease runs in the mother or fathers family
    3. try getting at least two of almost everything since you have two pigs and you don’t want them fighting over stuff (except the cage that’s fine they should stay together in the same cage)
there’s a couple other small stuff but otherwise really really great job. most people just get pets without doing any research or looking into the animal but you guys did a great job. 👍🏼👏
