Ethics of Artificial Intelligence

Currently, artificial intelligence (AI) is one of the hottest topics in science, technology, and innovation. AI has spread to literally every aspect of our lives. Examples include personal assistants like Siri, Alexa, but also self-driving cars, Internet search engines, email-spam filters, smart home devices, investment algorithms, facial recognition and a myriad other applications. AI is predicted to transform our society as dramatically as the steam engine, electricity, or the Internet have done before. As with any new technology, public discourse oscillates between euphoria and anxieties, pros and cons, advantages and negative side effects of AI. This presentation will highlight the multi-facetted dilemmas (global) society faces in its quest to harness AI’s powers.
