I met Ernie twice and he is such a super nice guy. He loves meeting and talking with his fans. Such an underrated actor. Of course he is a Ghostbuster but one of my favorite things he ever did was HBO's OZ.
He was also great in Sugar Hill.
Even though everyone talks about Brandon Lee when it comes to “The Crow”, and rightfully so, Ernie was great in that as well.
Ernie's so cool! He was also great in "The Substitute" playing the main villain.
He also played a villain in Shark Attack.
When asked if he believes in ghosts, Ernie missed an opportunity to reply "if there's a steady paycheck in it, I'll believe anything you say".

He didn't ask about full trance mediums, the loch ness monster, or the theory of Atlantis though.

The older I get the more he becomes my favorite Ghostbuster.
I think because Winston was 'just a regular guy' looking for a steady paycheck. We can relate more to him than the other three.

Same. When I met him the first time I had him sign an 8X10 for OZ. Second time I met him he was in his Ghostbusters jumpsuit. Such a nice guy.
Yes! He was outstanding as Warden Glynn. I was super salty when he was killed at the end of the series, bc it felt so forced.
Ernie was so menacing in "Sugar Hill" with Wesley Snipes. Highly underrated film and performances. Don't forget him as Half-Dead in "Penitentiary II" (1982).
Now I loved him in The Substitute, as the principal who was also using the school buses to move dope.
Still waiting for the first negative story about Ricardo Montalban. The man was an amazing human being.
The part of Winston was actually written for Eddie Murphy. I can't remember why he didn't do it. I think he was doing 48hrs and just couldn't do it. As much as I would have loved seeing Eddie play Winston, so glad Ernie played him. I'm sure the movie would have still been good with 4 comedic actors, but having Ernie playing the straight guy to the other 3's craziness was one of the best things about the movie.
He was doing Beverly Hills Cop. He said that's why he turned it down.

Yes Winston was the only ghostbuster who wasn't a parasychologist but he was awesome. Without him, Ghostbusters wouldn't be any good.

I believe Winston was initially written to be played by Eddie Murphy and was to be a much bigger role. When Murphy was not available, the part of Winston was cut way down.
