    Your video (hour long) in 2021 completely changed my mind about Halloween. I had grown up too celebrating it in the regular "Christian" way with dressing up, getting candy, and just enjoying the "fun" and "good" parts of Halloween. With how strict my parents were, looking back I'm really surprised they raised me and my sister that way. Last I talked to my parents about it, they still don't see anything wrong with that way of participating in Halloween, but I can't in good conscience do it anymore. I have no remorse about it either, which I know is peace from God. Because I did really used to enjoy the Halloween aesthetic (my favorite color is black) and dressing up. It's just not worth it to me anymore.

    This is a really important topic and I not long ago discussed with a few friends about it and why it’s not good to celebrate.I was shocked when one of my friends said how when you say just the words “Happy Halloween” it’s like some sort of demon is released into the world.Overall, I am Christian and I will never celebrate Halloween.

    This will be our first year not celebrating. 🎉 I appreciate this video and your other longer one too. It’s scary to set yourself apart but it’s already been a witnessing opportunity which I think is a major positive for deciding to not participate. Last year I put “Jesus loves you” stickers on our give away candies which I might do again and just leave a bowl outside. 🤔

    Thank you for this. You explain it well. - If we have been born again, we won’t want to do “whatever we want.” We will want to follow closely what Jesus says. Being filled with the Spirit really does make us undeniably new.
    This will be my first year not celebrating the holiday. My employer always has a party & encourages costumes. Some of them know I’ve been born again but I suspect a will be surprised when I don’t participle.

    We didn’t really do anything for Halloween since I’ve been five besides maybe trick or treating once or twice since then. When I was a kid I was afraid of knocking on peoples doors but as I got older I’ve become aware of how evil scary things like ghosts and witch’s are and Halloween never felt right to me. The kind of feeling where you’re like ‘um something is very off’.

    Hi Nastasia! I love your channel!
    So I had a discussion with my husband about the topic of Halloween. He is a theologian and a history expert so I trust his opinion. I set out all the arguments for and against Halloween, and how we approach it as Christians. He argues that it boils down to our intent. We absolutely do not intend to sin against God, to blaspheme or celebrate evil things. However, we need to discern what is evil and it would be irresponsible as Christians to go out dressed in evil costumes trick or treating and partake in any evil practices .That I absolutely agree is wrong and the intent there is against God. However, our son is dressing up as St Michael the Archangel (his namesake) he is wearing a Christian cross and this is a rare chance to share the gospel message with our neighbours, when they ask about what our son is dressed as. I intend to tell them that our son wanted to dress as an angel, and that we love Jesus. My husband used to dress up as Joshua from the old testament (his name is Joshua). It is the even of all saints day where we remember the heroes of our faith, remember martyrs who died in the name of Jesus and who inspire us in our faith.
    Let's claim back Halloween and Christianize the holiday ✝️✝️✝️✝️✝️

Yes, hell is real, but we need to take a moment and realize that we need to promote jesus, and Jesus alone. he's who saved us. Not our choice to obey- on a whim of a haunted house and fear. Some Christian groups love to proclaim that our American Halloween traditions are based on the Celtic harvest festival of Samhain. They tell us that at this time of year the ancient peoples of the British Isles celebrated magic rites because the door between our world and the spirit world would open. Celtic occult practices loosed demons on the night of Samhain, which we now observe as Halloween.
    Christian parents would need to shield their families from Halloween practices, if this story of Samhain were true, but it's not. The truth is that historians don't really know much of anything about Celtic religion. What gets passed around the Internet as history is mostly speculation and nonsense.
    Pagan Romans avoided the ashes of their forebears, but Christians looked upon the graves of their dead as having spiritual importance. Christian cemeteries were not final resting places; the grave was only temporary. Christians looked forward to the bodily resurrection of their brothers and sisters, and visiting the grave of those who slept in Christ testified to this belief in the resurrection.
    The resurrection of Christ had rent the veil that separated the living and the dead. The early catholic church did not merely boast a universality over space, but it also claimed a temporal universality. Could death really separate the saints whether living or dead now that Christ has risen? Christians gathered at the tombs to celebrate because in this way the members of the church who still lived could include in the celebration the members of the church who had died. Heaven and earth were joined, in a sense, when Christians both living and dead simultaneously worshiped the God who would one day reunite them.
    All Saints' Day was a nice addition to the liturgical calendar because it gave all Christians the opportunity to celebrate the martyrs' victory over death. After all, not every city in the Roman Empire had a local martyr shrine because not every city had experienced persecution. Why should martyr-less cities lose the blessing of celebrating what Christ has done through his saints?
    As I said, it wasn't the pagans who were fascinated with the dead; it was the Christians, because it's only the Christians that believed that the dead don't stay dead.
    Summer is over and the days are getting darker. What better time to acknowledge that we live in a fallen world? What better time to remember the martyrs who died during the dark days of persecution? But even though things are dark, we celebrate with joy. We can laugh as we dress our children in images of death because we know that death no longer has a hold on God's people. Though things look dark, we mock the darkness and we mock death because we know that we haven't been abandoned to the darkness and that in the darkest days of the year, Christmas will come, and the days will get brighter.
    Some readers will still be wary of Halloween after this explanation. Some will say, "But isn't the Roman Catholic cult of the saints an idolatrous syncretism based on Pagan hero cults?" The answer is, no; that's Enlightenment propaganda. Others will ask whether Catholic superstition about the saints is really any better than pagan superstition. I would suggest asking these questions: Do I believe the martyrs should be remembered? Do I believe that the dead will rise again? Do I believe the power of Christ has conquered death? If you answered yes to these questions, then you believe the fundamental doctrines that motivated the historic celebration of All Saints' Day and Halloween.

    First off, I just want to say, "I am convinced, being fully persuaded in the Lord Jesus, that nothing is unclean in itself. But if anyone regards something as unclean, then for that person it is unclean (Romans 14:14). If anyone believes celebrating Halloween is sinful or dishonors God or opens them up to demons and temptation then it is absolutely sin for them to celebrate Halloween. However, the teachings of Jesus and the apostles make it absolutely clear that Christians are free (and have good reason) to observe the amoral aspects of Halloween, Christmas, Easter, etc. Amoral means something which is not moral or immoral in and of itself. A knife is just a knife but if you stab someone with it, then it is evil. Traditions like trick or treating, costumes, and Christmas trees are amoral aspects of these holidays. Seances on Halloween and covetousness at Christmas are immoral. It is obvious that "pagan" people do evil, even demonic, things on holidays, but does that make all "pagan" traditions immoral and unredeemable? No. The key biblical passages to understanding this issue are Romans 14 and 1 Corinthians 8-10. I will do my best to provide my understanding, but I would encourage anyone to study these passages before they write off pagan holidays or insist Christians follow the Jewish festivals. You are not following the example of Paul who became, "all things to all people so that by all possible means I might save some." (1 Cor 9:22-23). If you read this verse in context, you will see that one of the "means" Paul discusses is going into PAGAN TEMPLES and eating MEAT SACRIFICED TO DEMONS so that he could share the gospel with unbelievers.

    • @josephjurgensmeier
      @josephjurgensmeier Год назад

      In Romans 14, Paul first wants us to understand that all food and "special days" are in and of themselves amoral issues. It is our intentions that determine the morality of our choices in these areas, not man made rules or even Old Testament Law. This is in line with what Jesus said, "What goes into someone's mouth does not defile them, but what comes out of their mouth, that is what defiles them" (Matt 15:11). Paul says, "Accept the one whose faith is weak, without quarreling over disputable matters." (v.s 1) In this case, the "one whose faith is weak" is simply one who does not have the knowledge that, "by dying to what once bound us, we have been released from the law so that we serve in the new way of the Spirit, and not in the old way of the written code." (Rom 7:6) All of us are weak in some aspect of our faith and fall into this "legalism" of the written code. Celebrating Halloween is a great example of a "disputable matter" which is not sinful, but can become sinful if it is pursued selfishly or against your conscience. Paul continues with an example of a "disputable matter", "One person's faith allows them to eat anything, but another, whose faith is weak, eats only vegetables. The one who eats everything must not treat with contempt the one who does not, and the one who does not eat everything must not judge the one who does, for God has accepted them."(v.s. 2-3) When Paul speaks of eating meat he is obviously referring to vegetarians but he alludes to Jewish kosher laws later when he says "nothing is unclean in itself." These are all "disputable matters" to Paul. Next Paul applies the same truth to "special days" such as Halloween or Jewish festivals. "One person considers one day more sacred than another; another considers every day alike. Each of them should be fully convinced in their own mind. Whoever regards one day as special does so to the Lord. Whoever eats meat does so to the Lord, for they give thanks to God; and whoever abstains does so to the Lord and gives thanks to God." (v.s. 5-6) Is it possible for me to thank God for carved pumpkins and trick or treating and do them unto the Lord even though they have "pagan roots"? Absolutely.

    • @josephjurgensmeier
      @josephjurgensmeier Год назад

      Skipping ahead, we get to Paul's big caveat, "I am convinced, being fully persuaded in the Lord Jesus, that nothing is unclean in itself. But if anyone regards something as unclean, then for that person it is unclean. If your brother or sister is distressed because of what you eat, you are no longer acting in love. Do not by your eating destroy someone for whom Christ died." Even if we are free to eat meat or drink alcohol (in moderation) or celebrate Halloween, Paul warns we can destroy our brothers and sisters who don't believe they are free in these areas. By using our freedom selfishly, we can make those whose faith is weaker "stumble" v.s. 20, "fall" v.s. 21, be "condemned" and "sin" v.s. 23. This is the only biblical argument for why you shouldn't participate in the amoral aspects of Halloween. For instance, if a new believer was involved in Wicca before coming to Christ, they will undoubtedly feel like they have to swear off all Halloween. It would be sin to encourage them to go against conscience and carve a pumpkin. It would be like drinking alcohol or smoking in front of someone who has repented from addiction. Paul ends with a final instruction on how we can keep from "quarreling over disputable matters". "So whatever you believe about these things keep between yourself and God. Blessed is the one who does not condemn himself by what he approves. But whoever has doubts is condemned if they eat, because their eating is not from faith; and everything that does not come from faith is sin." (v.s. 22-23) It's not that Christians should never talk about these "disputable matters", but they just are not worth discussing if they will be divisive. However, don't take that as an encouragement to "go with the flow" against your conscience.

    • @josephjurgensmeier
      @josephjurgensmeier Год назад

      Now, you may be thinking, "If I might make a brother or sister who used to be a satanist sin, then there is no reason to celebrate Halloween." In some situations, you would be right. But first, ask yourself if that is actually the situation you are in! If you don't think you will cause anyone to stumble then you have a good biblical reason to celebrate Halloween. It is possibly the best opportunity for evangelism next to Christmas and Easter we have all year. Besides I think costumes and candy are fun (don't kill me). This brings us to our second key passage, 1 Corinthians 8-10. This passage more explicitly discusses how Christians should interact with pagan and Jewish practices. After reminding us that, "knowledge puffs up while love builds up" (1 Cor 8:1) Paul says, "So then, about eating food sacrificed to idols: We know that 'An idol is nothing at all in the world' and that 'there is no God but one.'" And, skipping a few verses, "But not everyone possesses this knowledge. Some people are still so accustomed to idols that when they eat sacrificial food they think of it as having been sacrificed to a god, and since their conscience is weak, it is defiled." (1 Cor 8:4,7) Here, Paul is saying that because God is the only true God, pagan idol worship is really nothing at all and it has no effect on the meat sacrificed to fake gods other than that which someones conscience gives it. How much more "tainted" by "darkness" is an offering to a false god compared to the effect unrelated satanic rituals have on a kid's candy? The sacrifice has a direct connection to "evil" but in Paul's conscience, he is free to eat the meat with pagans in a pagan temple, except for how it might stumble a brother. How much more can we enjoy good moral costumes with our friends and unbelieving neighbors? Moving on, Paul picks this theme back up in the next chapter and brings more nuance to the subject, "Though I am free and belong to no one, I have made myself a slave to everyone, to win as many as possible. To the Jews I became like a Jew, to win the Jews. To those under the law I became like one under the law (though I myself am not under the law), so as to win those under the law. To those not having the law I became like one not having the law (though I am not free from God's law but am under Christ's law), so as to win those not having the law. To the weak I became weak, to win the weak. I have become all things to all people so that by all possible means I might save some." Paul is saying here he became "like" the Jews and pagans so that he could have a chance to win them for the gospel. This means Paul adopted some of the Old Testament traditions and acted as if he was bound to them when he was with Jews, but when he was with Gentiles he acted as if he was free to follow some of their customs. Clearly Paul is not saying that he became wicked like the pagans as he acknowledges he is under Christs law. But in amoral issues, Paul sees an opportunity be as free in his conscience or as strict as he needs to be to not offend those he's reaching out to. Let's be honest, unbelievers and other Christians think it's weird to not celebrate holidays. By throwing these amoral pagan traditions out the window and insisting that they are evil, we are putting an unnecessary stumbling block in the way of people who we should be drawing to Christ however we can.

    • @josephjurgensmeier
      @josephjurgensmeier Год назад

      Chapter 10 does a good job of summarising this whole issue. At first, it seems that what Paul is laying out in this chapter is contradictory. He first affirms that offering food to idols is worshipping demons and that those who eat the sacrifice "participate", but then he agrees that we are free in Christ to "eat anything in the meat market" or "whatever is put before you without raising questions of conscience". What is the fine line of truth here? The key phrase in verse 20 is "sacrifices of pagans are OFFERED to demons." Your intentions really do matter in this disputable matter. Paul says, "If I take part in the meal with thankfulness (toward God not demons), why am I denounced because of something I thank God for? So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God." No Christians we are not sinning when we celebrate pagan holidays in a God honoring way. Instead, we are GLORIFYING GOD AND ADVANCING THE GOSPEL THROUGH ANY MEANS POSSIBLE!

I also practice witchcraft, and again, it’s just celebrating the moon cycles, having crystals, and connecting to higher spirits and channeling good energy and mindfulness. There’s no one answer to religion. A lot of modern day witches and pagans just want to connect to nature and send good vibes to everyone. Our community has purely kind intentions. Also, wouldn’t your child feel isolated and left out from their peers when not allowed to celebrate a holiday that could be completely innocent? Modern day Halloween has nothing to do with satan. Sure, it used to, but I swear to you EVERYONE celebrating Halloween is just having some spooky fun. And are you homophobic?

      Christians should not partake in anything that the Holy Spirit has convicted them not to do. Also there’s no such thing as a white witch, light witchcraft, good vibes etc .. I know because I used to practice it and was led so far astray but thank goodness Jesus led me out of witchcraft, addiction, and darkness. Moon cycles, astrology, crystals, “higher spirits” are all a perversion of God’s creation. We should be worshipping the Creator, not creation. I truly believe that you have good intentions and want the best for people, that’s how God created us at our core. The problem is when you put your faith into an object that cannot do for you what God can do for you. Also there is one answer, it’s Jesus Christ. Jesus was not religious, he hated religion andChristianity is the only teaching that gives the gift of salvation FREELY, simply by believing that Jesus died for you.. for the world, so that we may have eternal life. It’s also the ONLY one where God chases man, not man chasing God and the only to have their prophet die and rise again. It’s very different from other religions. All other religions say you will never be enough but if you try hard enough, pay enough money, humiliate yourself, etc then God MIGHT accept you. Also our children might feel left out but Jesus says we are in the world, not of the world and we should be set apart because of him. We are also the most hated and picked apart religion but Jesus told us that would happen because of him. I have seen modern day warlocks expose Halloween and say that they wait for this day because the veil is the thinnest and do rituals leading up to Halloween night and on Halloween. Lastly, Christians should not be homophobic. If they are then they need to pray about it. I have gay friends, I love them and I know God loves them but he isn’t happy with their lifestyle or their sin but it’s not our jobs to convict them, it’s the Holy Spirits. We have the gospel of Jesus to share and everyone has their own testimony and each testimony speaks to different people.

      There are testimonies of people who practiced witchcraft and thought "good spirits" we're helping them, only to find out it was actually demons. Jesus is the only one who causes demons to flee. Satan is called the father of lies for a reason. May God in His mercy and kindness show you the truth one day. True Christians are not "homophobic," we often have friends that are gay. Do you hate cigarette smokers or do you love them and share that it's bad for their lungs so they should quit? That is what sin is. It's bad for our soul and separates us from a holy and loving God. Any sin. It is up to us whether we act on our feelings. If we turn to him, there are also testimonies of people who God has healed of homosexuality. Everyone? No. But Jesus didn't heal all the blind folks in his time either. One day there will be no more pain, suffering, or brokenness, but that day will only come after Jesus returns. Please consider what we've shared and seek Jesus.
