- New city, new life. When you move to a new place you develop a whole new routine, and sometimes a new outlook on life. I joined Ted in Sabaneta to take a look at his newly renovated apartment and some of his go to favorites in Sabaneta, about a 15-20 minute taxi ride from Poblado.
I have some new gear and I am starting to outsource my editing so please bear with me as I redefine my production process for these vlogs :)

Mucho gusto, me llamo Sam Miller. In 2008, I rode a motorcycle from Canada to Argentina searching for a rewarding and purposeful lifestyle. When I came across Colombia I saw incredible opportunity for life. The country was misunderstood and I set about understanding it and sharing its story with the world. I joined a group of real estate entrepreneurs who were also seeking an international lifestyle and we grew from a startup brokerage into an international real estate management firm.

Some people are concerned about the “safety in South America” and in the USA some cities are more dangerous than any other Latin American town / city
I am retired I live in Medellin now I love it. The people are great and the food. I use to have alot pain in my knees and right hip. Now that live here for 4 years. The pain is gone. All natural food.

USA is number one country if you see things in right prospective. It is a land of opportunities off course for those who are positively charged highly focused and motivated individuals, USA is as bad for people who are negatively charged and somewhat outdated in their thought process, they will find it difficult to live in involving USA motivated individuals from all over the goes to USA why because they want to prove they want to win, people from Eastern Europe, Asia, Latin America. From all parts of the poorer world. Americans can’t cope with these fellows. So Columbia becomes handy place to hide away with Latin domestic families, I have seen this more than once.
This is plane truth about life.

No se puede agarrar el agua, no se puede agarrar el aire, ni la noche volverla estrellada. Pero se puede agarrar los recuerdos, y mantenerlos intactos. eso solo se logra en el seno de la familia. volver a ella!! Que la noche es larga y el día espera y la muerte es eterna. ( el secreto de la familia Colombiana)

En el "seno de la familia", lo que quede de ella. Ya hacia el final solo nos quedan nuestros hermanos pues nuestros padres y abuelos volaron al Cielo hace mucho.
Me encuentro este video de casualidad y al sr Ted lo he visto, somos vecinos, también llevamos poco viviendo en estas colinas de Sabaneta y me encanta la naturaleza y el panorama que se puede observar desde acá. EL restaurante que mostraron se llama La Octava Maravilla❤.

Wow, how much my school town has changed, I went to school in El Carmelo with sisters during 1976-1978, And it was pretty rural, we will go on Fridays after school to small villages walking up the hills to teach the locals in the mountains how to write and read. These mountains are probably now the grounds where the constructions of those tall buildings are happening. I have to say it is a bittersweet feeling. When I go back to my school town everything would have been changed........ oh well I am not the same either. Excellent report thank you.
Live in Sabaneta near Mayorca, love it. I used to live over by Aves Maria and do miss the proximity of Parque Sabaneta, but the while town is wonderful.

How did you end up in Medellin?
I was born in California left the USA when I was 8 years old, we moved to Medellin.
I came back to California when I turned 18 and have been here ever since.
You can't imagine how I miss Medallo now I wish I could go back one day.

Interesting video. It shows well that Sabaneta is no longer that small quaint village south of Medellin. In fact it’s becoming more like Medellin. But it’s still being sold to foreigners as the typical Colombian village it USED to be. Also you pretty much skipped over that living in the hills, where a lot of construction is going on, is not ideal for most people who don’t want the trouble and cost of maintaining a car, as there is little public transport convenience up there. Living closer to the main square, or close to the shopping center and metro is a better option if you want to live in Sabaneta (but you did not go there). Buying or renting is still cheaper than in El Poblado, so that is maintaining demand from foreigners, but they better go themselves to check it out. It’s a good distance from Medellin, and traffic to and from Medellin and the Center can be pretty bad. It’s an interesting alternative to Medellín, but it’s certainly not for everyone, especially up in the hills. And you are right, now that Sabaneta real estate is getting to be like Medellin, other areas even further south will be the new attraction for foreigners looking to limit their purchase or rental costs...but you are then getting even further from Medellin...

How much can you get as a return on investment? If one was to buy a condo - are Americans allowed to purchase and own real estate in Colombia? Can you secure a loans to purchase a condo
You can own property fully and typical ROI rent g long term unfurnished is 3%, rent g furnished is complicated and needs to be in a purpose built building to avoid complications and then you can earn 5-10%net ROI. I am sharing luxury airbnb properties in my newsletter sammiller.life

Sí tuvieras que recomendar una ciudad en tu país para aprender inglés y tener un cambio de estilo de vida (algo opuesto a Bogotá) para alguien que se va a estudiar, cuál recomendarías!?.. 2 questions: 1) Does Sabaneta have the noise pollution problem like Medellin? and 2) Are you using a 360 camera because it looks like you have stitch lines in your vid?
I am using a 360, I scratched one of the lenses on the way to this shoot so I will see if I can clear it up.
Up in the hills it's quiet, albeit construction noise in the distance due to the growth it is seeing right now.

Unfurnished in one of the new high rises runs us around $450 usd a month, might find something not brand new for less. Furnished new was 2,900,000 a month cop. Both were 2 bedrooms.

@@moshesierra6849 You would be surprised by the number of people who are fluent in English here in Colombia, especially younger generations like mine. I am the girl who appears on the video and the reason why you don’t see any clips of me talking is because I happen to be camera shy and asked Sam to remove me from the video.
@@gisselaortiz7832 I wouldn’t doubt in a heartbeat your english fluency. At least, writing wise, it’s ok. One or two typos here and there, over all, comprehensive pretty much. On the other hand, it wasn’t pleasing seeing you on the background , pacing along. One thing is being camera shy, which is somewhat contradicting against you will to appear on camera no matter what. If im camera shy, therefore i won’t show up at all

Not his specific apartment but in the area you can expect 5 million COP per square meter for new construction
