Words cant describe how much i love and miss these times. Life is kinda shitty rn.
I have just bought this train set for my son's 10th birthday and my parents bought the train station. Lots of intensive LEGO building that weekend, and plenty of thrills and spills for the passengers. We found that by adding some extra track from the Lone Ranger train set and only making the corners 90 deg. we reduced the number of spills.
Little Mister decided that it would be fun to try stopping at the station by just cutting the power. He was quite good at that, but I am glad I was not a Lego passenger on that trip. At one stage he was dragging the Lone Ranger loco round backwards in place of the third car.

My son received this Lego 60051 before this Xmas as a gift, and the 4.5-year-old finished installing it using an evening and a whole second day, with a little guidance and more courage and spiritual support from me. It is a great and amazing toy.
It runs perfect on the track with 7 (or 6) speeds!
Only a minor problem: without extra tacks, the train would hit the station platform everytime it enters the station. So I had to move the platform inside the circle instead of out of it. Then it was solved.
During installation, my son noticed a mistake in the fourth guidance book. It was supposed to be two bricks, but the book says only one. Anybody noticed that too?
A question: only the left side of the remote controller is functioning? Does anybody know what's the use of the other side of it ? Or did we make some mistakes?

The remote can control 2 trains. This train is set up to run the "red" train. The right side is set up to run the "blue" train. Lego set 60052. I did notice the error in the book too.

The other side of the controller is for lights in set 8293 i powered my train with them

Is it posible to push the train and not use the remote and electric motor? with Brio the electric trains are just too slow for my sons, they play better with the push ones.

Nice video! I'm just wondering if it would be possible to make the train sets less narrow so that they would be able to include 2 rows of seats inside.
You have to build a train from scratch in order to achieve this. Otherwise the proportions would be cursed.

Toy R Us placed them on the shelf. I'm not sure whether it was an accident or not, but I was very pleased with seeing them.

Great sound effects!
I got the click sfx online and slowed it down 50 percent to soften it so it sounded more like a lego. I was trying to achieve the same sound effects used in the lego movie without actually using theirs.

I remember when I first saw this video I really wanted the train and I recently got it so that made me very happy.

Why you didn't use the stickers
Back when I produced this video I wasn't using stickers. A lot of people commented that they wanted me to use stickers, so I currently do.

I, myself, have the old city train, the red one, the station that came out with the older train, and I also have the Horizon express. I built the older station and Horizon express (and some tracks) into a elevated railway!

I also have this set and a few other train sets, i made this train 2 extra coaches 1 was a double decker coach and the 2nd one was a car carrier coach with opening doors my only fault about this set is that the doors dont open, wish they did 😑

Flexible Tracks
Rumor has it that people didn't like the flex tracks. I've never tried them out so I don't have an actual opinion. On the other hand they sold really fast on ebay.
Honestly, I hate flexi tracks, they just don't work as well as normal tracks and lego has replaced 8 curved track pieces with 16 flexi tracks, and basically, to me, length and quantity is best, so, 8 curved is way longer and I prefer normal tracks to flexi tracks

Big B Bricks I'm glad that I purchased 9V years ago. I still have all the stuff. I always end up hooking up the 9V motor to the newer trains and don't even use the Power Functions.
Paul Ufema Yeah, me too. I have my 9V motor attached to my mearsk train, and those motors are pretty epic. They're really strong and can never run out of battery :D
I guess the train station would work with the 60197 passenger train too? Do you have the clearance of the roof, because someone did a club passenger car with a second level did you think it would clear? thanks .
