Holy cow, what was that plugged with? JB Weld?
I’m gonna have to look at my 21 high relief again tonight. My coins are all ungraded. This video makes me feel better about my 21 hr. I’m pretty sure I bought it in a lot of silver dollars several years ago and only paid about $18 for it🤣. Another one slipped through the cracks! Wew. Thanks for getting in close with the camera & explaining what you see. That is very helpful to us amateurs. ✌️
I finally broke down and bought a 1921 Peace Dollar last December as a birthday present for myself. It came from my LCS where I have done business for fifty years! Thank heavens it is in beautiful shape! I paid $330.00 for it.
5:40 This is a tragedy. Blast white coins are boring and often look terrible in comparison to ones with tasteful natural toning.
The dollar coins that are battered and abused have good character to them.
If only they could talk and tell their stories: how they got their life scars. It goes to show, that once upon a time, they were just pocket spending cash. Dropped. Thrown. Flipped in the air. Bashed around on the card table. Most circulating coins have a rough time, the public don't care, as long as the coin is spendable. That kind of history is what makes collecting coins so interesting.
My god that should have its own grade : Train Wreck grade.
I have an 1878 CC Morgan that looks SIGNIFICANTLY worse than that Peace Dollar, it was actually the reason I started collecting "impared" Carson City minted coins.
Never thought I'd hear you say Peace Dollar and ugly in the same sentence
Daniel should take the PCGS Challenge!
They put up 20 US Coins and have people try to guess the grades and whoever gets the most correct wins.
They have to be able to grade everything from Indian Cents to Morgan Dollars to St Gaudens Double Eagles.
Specifically for 1921 peace dollars I believe they look far better toned than white, at least until gem grades. The toning really makes the high relief pop and makes the entire coin look more 3 dimensional.
I agree!
I have been learning a lot since I found your channel. I’m new to coins so trying to learn a lot. Thanks for the great videos.
Ty for sharing Daniel. I HAD A half tube of these in the 90s and gave up and sold them for a tiny profit in 2005. Now there finally moving up. Same with the Barber half. Some of them key dates where so cheap in the 90s.
Hello Dan! I wanted to compliment you on this video. I liked how you used a seperate camera to just focus on the coin, as opposed to you holding it up in front of the camera and waiting for it to focus.
Nice Pile of 21's Daniel thank you for showing!
Why do some slabs say high relief when others don't?
Someone got out the JB weld
Well, I just had quite a few takeaways on how to better judge these. TY Daniel
Come on Daniel a good morning , thanks for the heads up man
Great video!!
Nice purchase and yes last one not so nice
Nice to see all those 1921 Peace ✌🙂
Dollars. Some were great, I would be
glad to have one of them as graded.
I recently obtained a good condition
1921 raw Peace ✌😌 Dollar for $195.00,
from bidding on eBay. I saw similar ones
being bid on for more, over $200.00 and
even over $300.00 for one of them. Ray.
Now that I bought 3 😁😁😁 more Silver
Eagles from your store, I will have a full
Stack of 20 with various dates from 1986
to 2021. Ray.
Morgan and Peace Dollar are my favorites. 2 classic designs.
I am Australian and I agree with you , defiantly two of the most beautiful coins ever made.
Is I have a beautiful 1921 piece dollar graded by P CGS at a ms64 grade.
Purchased 4 years ago at $1,050.00
Oh my, I just checked and it's over $2,200! I have to do video on this
Looking forward to seeing it. 👻
That's crazy. I bought an MS64 for $650 in 2018 (that was a low price then, but admittedly it's a low-end 64). I couldn't sell it for $2250 but $1500 would suit me fince.
Nice find those will go fast. I've been looking at the 1934s. The price of the peace dollar is up up up.
I think I have a cleaned example of one of these somewhere. I might go look in one of my safes later. I believe it was either a VF or XF details.
Thanks for the video.
You know you have done well in life if you have 1 safe let alone 2 or 3. Good for you 👍
I kinda like the pinkish peace dollar
Sounding rough Daniel. Take care of your health…..and thanks. My 1921 has doubled in value 👍
Dang thats quite a few 1921 Peace dollars
Bought a 1921 Peace PCGS MS 64 in December for $700. Crazy what they are selling for today.
A graded holed coin. Never seen that before. I wouldn't want a holed coin, it's not something I'd enjoy owning, unless I paid melt.
Yes, I would enjoy melting it and putting it out of its misery, lol
I'd gladly buy an 1875-cc half eagle or any Dahlonega gold coin with a hole in it. 😂
I like au58 coins for any series. I think that they are the "best bag for the buck" I also am one that likes white coins. Thanks for sharing Daniel
Don't forget XF45: that's a good grade too.
I've seen many Peace Dollars graded 58 by TPGS's that look way nicer than some 63s out there.
I like the Peace dollar!! I would also like to complement you on a excellent website. Grate photography and easy to navigate (Portsmouth coins & currency)
Thank you
Them are really nice peace dollars
A numerical grade on a holed coin.. I never pay extra for Anacs grading.
Have a great day sir
You too!
Good Morning Daniel!!🍵 My preference is the coin that's toned, or still in it's true state, not a dipped, shiny one!
I never dipped any of these. I bought them as is.
@@CoinHELPu I understand that, Daniel. I was referring to the one that you thought someone had dipped, comparing it to the slightly toned one!😊
That "mark" on the AU53 could be a strike-through. I've got a number of struck-thru Morgans and Peace dollars and it looks like one to me, though I'd have to have a closer look. A strike-through should not affect the technical grade and PCGS wouldn't note it on the holder unless they were paid the higher mint error grading fee.
It's not a struck through error. I know what that is and seen plenty.
Don't give that poor coin a complex, looks like it's had a had hard life. lol
Wish I had one
27 S is the second lowest mintage ;-) 700,000 ish. great coins
I meant second rarest but the 1927 and then the 27 S and I think they're over 800,000.
@@CoinHELPu its all good I cant remember half the stuff I learn about lincon wheat cents and Peace dollars. I cant imagine trying to remember every coin Series and plus stuff from other countries. I just felt like being a pain in the ass!!
@@coreynagle804 I thought your comment was very interesting , so often we don’t hold tight then we lose.
Can you do a video on VAMs? I have gotten pretty board with only searching for DDOs , DDRs , RPMs and RPDs and have started self teaching myself about VAMs in Morgan silver dollar's and find it so much more challenging to identity a particular VAM. I have found many VAM Morgan dollar's my fist being my 1883-CC It is a double date , CC/CC VAM that I have written down and put away for later possible attribution. My latest find is a unattrbuted 1878 7TF reverse of 78 VAM-80B that at first glance I thought was a VAM-80 but if I read this right the VAM-80 has far less die cracks that the VAM-80B. It is truly an amazing Morgan. I have never seen a Morgan with hub doubling before this Morgan and did not know it had hub doubling until I put it under my microscope. I show these VAM Morgan dollar in groups and people for some reason seem to think that it is the job of PCGS and NGC to attribute coins without checking the attribution box letting these 3ed party grading services know that attribution is what you want. I try to explain that if a person doesn't check the attribution box then PCGS and NGC will not attribute said coins. Maybe you could explain this in a video as well so people better understand the grading process and what PCGS and NGC will and will not do. If you could also explain if attribution of VAMs help the value of a Morgan or not that would also very helpful. I have no piece dollar's in my collection because personally I just don't dig the design. My dream Morgan would be the 1888-O VAM-1B. That would be an amazing Morgan to own no matter what die stage it would be in but a late die stage would be very cool. I would just like to hold one in person once. But anyway. I hope I've given you some good ideas for a video's. Thanks for another great video.
All Morgan Dollars are VAMS and unless they have a nickname they usually don't add much value. I might do one on the most valuable, but really it's a complicated subject matter for just a video. Vamworld website is a good place for that.
Nice coin except for the hole.
Still educating myself on the hi relief,
How long did you have to hang on to the holed beast at the end before it sold ?😊
OK it is pretty ugly hey thanks for the video man sparked my day have a good one
Should of just left the hole in it , but instead they ruined it !
Weird coin to grade… there’s such a huge margin for grades.. literally no AU is the same lol
I want to look for that VAM where the ray of sun goes through the L in the word dollar
I just sent 2 of them to NGC, hoping for 58 or better 🤞
Ive got a 2010 mint d penny it looks like there is mint strikes all over it
That is definitely a proof ! Of ugly .
I want that ANACS 58. When will you list it?
All of them were on the website and if they're not there then they sold. Sorry
regarding the ugly plugged peace you should sign the case put it on ebay sell it as all proceeds go to charity!! you get your money and so will a charity!!
Looks like she mad about something and is exploding like my wife does 😂. Hope ur having a good weekend
Oh, it's still worth....26..27 dollars? Not sure what spot price is right now. Main question I got is, why was it even in a case? Its obviously just bullion at that point
Why would anybody have that graded. In Las Vegas the slot machines used to pay in silver dollars.
To verify authenticity
That's not that bad I was expecting much worse for the ugliest ever
PCGS pricing ramp up 50% from April to May 2021 for 1921 peace dollars. Is this a result of hyperinflation and people off loading soon to be worthless fiat?
No, it is do to demand. Has nothing to do with inflation. You saw what happened to the metals when they announced an increase coming. Inflation doesn't mean all this is going to be worth more. The demand does though. Fiat will not be worthless as long as the US Government protects the value, besides we're mostly digital anyway and it is the USD that is worth something., No one cares about the paper much anymore.
hi Daniel
Thanks for your thoughts and the AU55
From Iowa
That first 1921 Peace Dollar was IN NO WAY an AU50 let alone 53...WAY TOO MUCH WEAR and detail worn away and it's DULL...NOT a matter of strike quality , THAT coin is WORN !! NO WAY I would by that coin above a 40 to 45 grade MAX !! That ANACS coin in AU58 is pretty accurate...sorry...but my confidence in PCGS is further eroded !! But I do agree on the last coin...that definitely is THE ugliest graded 1921 Peace Dollar...EVER !!
I wonder if a highly skilled jeweler with the right tools could fill a coin hole without PCGS noticing. 🤔
Don’t get me wrong I’m not saying they should or that anyone should. I’m just curious if it’s possible.
I mean anyone who has seen the Omega coins knows someone highly skilled in their craft can fool the professionals sometimes.
I don't think so.
Daniel have you ever typed the word authentic so much in your life?..lol..just kiddin..thanks for the video... nice '21's...you could just give me one of those if you wanna...jsn..the ugly one would be fine with me 🤣😅🤣😇😇😇👍👍👍
Lol I know
I want to sell my old coin where can i sent the video to finding u out🙏🙏
ruclips.net/video/hPXpV-CT8Hw/видео.html
Looks like that poor gal was patched with tar.
Did i see that right??? The high relief on the reverse, the ray didn't go much higher than the letter N. Every video I seen says high relief the ray goes alot higher than the letter N. Also , daniel can you do a video on where we can go to price check banknotes. Like pcgs has a priceguide, is there a banknote price guide somewhere ?
On which one did you see this?
@@CoinHELPu alot of youtube videos say that the high relief coin has the ray go well above the letter N in the word one. You just proved all those videos wrong , unless i didn't see that right. But watched this video a few times and it says high relief from pcgs, the ray wasnt above and beyond that letter N.
I had a 1977 coins but how l sell this coins l am here in the philippines please help me
Coins are not ugly they are just unique lol
I have old coins in god we trust 1921 iam in Zambia and other types of coins but hw can i sell them
It's pretty she always was
Daniel, I think all peach dollars are ugly, and I don't want them.
The question I have , why would somebody have these coins graded and slaver? AU Peace dollars? Why?
To authenticate
Some of those should be sent to the refinery.
BAD ADVISE ALERT:
Maybe you don't realize these are Peace Dollars and not the common Morgan Dollars. You take these to the refinery and you would lose a bunch of money selling for less than melt.
A coin being in that kind of terrible condition is not so unusual, as the fact that someone paid to have it graded.🤔
It is unusual to find them this way it was went off to be authenticated because if the coins appearance.
Why would someone even submit his coin, and PAY for the grading? Your opinion?
To get it authenticated
I can hear my transaction over the internet. Again. Not for the ugly one.
Why would someone spend money to slab a holed, plugged, scratched, circulated 1921 peace dollar???
To make sure it was authentic.
Did they think they were gonna fool PCGS with that bad plug job? LOL
Submitted to make sure the coin was authentic.
@@CoinHELPu For some reason I thought they made a ton of 1921 Peace Dollars. So that makes more sense.
@@Sturmvogel you’re thinking of Morgan Dollar and there’s counterfeits of those as well.
I don't understand why someone actually bothered to have those rougher coins slabbed in the past to be honest.
To be authenticated
@@CoinHELPu Yeah I suppose so, especially when there wasnt the knowledge or testing equipment we have these days.
You are CORRECT. That's actually FUGLY.
LOL. WOW.
Wow if this can happen to you.
THIS can Happen to Everyone..
Face to Face Transactions only for me !!!!
Nothing happened to me. I bought these from a customer and friend. He owned these and they were already graded. You got this all confused.
Try as I might I don't want to buy that coin.
Who would pay to have crappy coin graded?
To make sure it is authentic
Correct that one coin is ugly 😂
Congrats on your purchase! Thanks for Sharing
Think of the ugly duckling
I will never send any of my coins to be graded by PGCS again. I sent them a very BU 1892S Morgan Dollar and PCGS. claims the "rim was filed" and could not grade the coin. Upon receiving the coin back I took a closer look. The actual "rim" was spotless under 5 x's magnification. There is a very light "depression" on the side of the coin @ 12 o'clock that is so small it took a 40 x's magnifier to identify actual file marks-you cannot see them without high magnification. I see that ICG & ANACS gives a coin that is "filed" a grade with details. I blew $100 bucks for nothing. Never again.
That sucks man. Are sure they returned the coin you submitted? Did you submit one or multiple coins?
@@everettwhite9874 Hi-Yes I am pretty certain but I don't get PCGS rejecting the coin when they grade out "cleaned" coins all day long. I plan on submitting the coin to ANACS to get a grade with details. It was just one coin.
Hole Plugged?!
Lmfao wow talk about a waste of time
There is no such thing as an ugly 1921 Pease Dollar, IMHO
No such thing as ugly silver
The silver isn't ugly but the coin and the black on it is.
