    The prevailing theme is exposure to UV has a positive effect on all cause mortality - he doesn’t define UVa vs UVb - the impression I get is that it didn’t seem to matter that much; I understand the value of “smart Sun exposure”, ie, exposure to early morning sun prepares skin for UVb later; I suppose that’s still part of the mystery of understanding what constitutes optimal Sun exposure -

    • @MarmaladeINFP
      @MarmaladeINFP 7 месяцев назад +4

      Optimal sun exposure, as I understand it in this context, is getting as much sun exposure as possible in the first few hours of daylight and then getting some sun exposure throughout the rest of the day.

      Don’t get burned. You will feel when it’s enough if you pay attention. The more greenery you are around = the more near-IR rays you get: goes through light clothing. More is better.

    • @martinv.-
      @martinv.- 6 месяцев назад +2

      UVb is what makes Vitamin D, 312 to 315 nm, UVa is closer to color so in that sense is "less" intense. Sunscreens are built to block UVb. In the end, is what you said, it does not matter, you can't choose what to get when you are under the sun. Just go gradual, you'll develop your solar callus in no time, mornings are better as you said.

    • @bryanutility9609
      @bryanutility9609 6 месяцев назад

      @@martinv.- sunscreens are generally designed to block both. If you want to control what rays you get, time of day is your best option & surrounding landscape + shade.

    24:00 What the results suggest is that taking vitamin D supplements is not interchangeable with getting natural vitamin D from sun exposure.

    • @NoahSteckley
      @NoahSteckley Месяц назад

      This HAS to be true, but their report of vitamin D supplementation is probably missing the mark though. No comment was made about the widespread problem of the preposterously, small vitamin D doses being used in the research.

    Not true about the fitness of Australians compared to scottish/UK. There are far more obese people in scotland/UK compared to Australia because Australians are more active due to the better weather. Also I was at a all you can eat restaurant in scotland. 80% were obese. In Australia hardly anyone was obese at these type of restaurants.

    What about UV lamps vs sunbeds ? I get the advantages from the full spectrum light in sunbeds but could regular very short exposures to UV lamps at home be of any benefit in comparison to sunbeds and how would one even dose them etc...?

    We need to look at the trends in melanoma mortality over time, and look at the age adjusted trends from the years before the big political push to avoid the sun by the dermatology profession and compare with the trends in the last 20 or so years. Compare this trend with the diagnosis trend. If a melanoma is Dx at stage I and it's removed, there's only about a 10% chance you will die from melanoma. So, the big push with increased diagnosis (6X increase) should have led to a DECLINE in melanoma mortality in the past 20 years.

    I understand the term "Chemtrails" and its relationship to conspiracy theory. Let's forget all the gobbledygook nonsense discussions we see in our YT adventures and just see the sky as it's now presented to us. We see planes leaving vapor trails that spread out into a thin and sometimes thicker layer that covers our local skies. Does this vapor mass have anything to do with blocking a good UV spectrum of light? Or should I just refrain from ever looking up?
