How we added villagers to our village in Minecraft

  • I have a small private server running on my PC that I run for a few friends, and one of them started experimenting on ways to add villagers to the village using a building filled with doors. It was somewhat successful, but all the villagers would hang out by it and get confused at night, and if an iron golem spawned inside it was a nightmare to get it out.
I came up with the idea to run tunnels under the roads with the doors in them. This has the advantage of the doors not being concentrated in one spot, and it turned out to be extremely effective.
At one point we had five iron golems. I think we've had a zombie seige since then, and we have fewer villagers and only three golems have survived.

This wasn't what I was looking for. I was trying to find a way to get my one surviving villager (zombies killed the rest) to either make or attract more villagers. Any ideas?

I know this is old. but does this still work? I have a village with only 2 villagers and they REFUSE to make a baby even after I spent weeks perfecting the breeding system.

No they completely changed the way villagers breed, they don't care about doors any more. Also I believe this specific thing we did with the doors underground was a glitch, it was never supposed to work like this to begin with. Villagers need food and enough beds for themselves and their children, so make sure they have access to at least three beds to get a baby going.
