I'm totally weirded out! This is amazing. I always was looking for a solution to this problem and thought that there must be a way to do this in InDesign. I'll now print a poster of this freaky and ghostly dimmed box in the control panel. Thanks a lot, Mike, it's good to be a member of InDesignSecrets!
Depends on the font. I chose one that would exaggerate the difference in number widths so yes, it looks pretty goofy on the left. In most fonts the difference would be more subtle, or non-existent if it included tabular figures.
Is there a way to do this if you do NOT have a numbered list, and no decimals? If you just want to right-align numbers with left-aligned text on the same line?
You might need to customize the control panel and add it in. It might also not be showing if you’re on a smaller screen, like a laptop. indesignsecrets.com/tip-week-customizing-control-panel.php

So glad it was helpful! I (Erica) didn’t know this trick at all! -EG
this video was such a gem. That align right tip just saved me so much time i was manually spacing stuff to align lists -_- thank you
I didn’t know this trick before, either! 🤦🏽♀️-EG
Superb sharing bro! Keep it up & thanks
Really a pro tip, thanks a lot
Nice video
Thanks M🤗

This is nifty, and I guess I'm not used to seeing this type of alignment. The ragged left edge looks very odd to me.

@@jmv68 is there a video on tabular figures?

Use a right aligned tab for the number and a left aligned tab for the text.

Shouldn't you type out 0 as well, just in case?
Yes! Sorry about that. Good catch, Laura.
Weird..I have looked everywhere. I don't see this horizontal cursor position in my control panel.

@@CreativePro Thanks//I am on a laptop at home.. Will check it at work tomorrow on the big screen.
Found it at last on my laptop.. Had to make room by removing tons of stuff for it to appear..Thanks again!!
Sure thing!
Major error in there: Pulp Fiction is not on the list ;)
Agreed.
Yeah, no. It'll ruin the list.
