The Andrews Sisters - Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy From Company B

- He was a famous trumpet man from out Chicago way
He had a boogie style that no one else could play
He was the top man at his craft
But then his number came up and he was gone with the draft
He's in the army now, a-blowin' reveille
He's the boogie woogie bugle boy of Company B
They made him blow a bugle for his Uncle Sam
It really brought him down because he couldn't jam
The captain seemed to understand
Because the next day the cap' went out and drafted a band
And now the company jumps when he plays reveille
He's the boogie woogie bugle boy of Company B
A-toot, a-toot, a-toot-diddelyada-toot
He blows it eight-to-the-bar, in boogie rhythm
He can't blow a note unless the bass and guitar is playin' with 'I'm
He makes the company jump when he plays reveille
He's the boogie woogie bugle boy of Company B
He was some boogie woogie bugle boy of Company B
And when he plays the boogie woogie bugle he was busy as a "bzzz" bee
And when he plays he makes the company jump eight-to-the-bar
He's the boogie woogie bugle boy of Company B
Toot toot toot-diddelyada, Toot-diddelyada, toot-toot
He blows it eight-to-the-bar
He can't blow a note if the bass and guitar isn't with 'I'm
Ha-ha-hand the company jumps when he plays reveille
He's the boogie woogie bugle boy of Company B
(Instrumental)
He puts the boys to sleep with boogie every night
And wakes 'em up the same way in the early bright
They clap their hands and stamp their feet
Because they know how he plays when someone gives him a beat
He really breaks it up when he plays reveille
He's boogie woogie bugle boy of Company B
Dat-da da-do-do da-dup
Dat-da da-do-do da-dup
Dat-da da-do-do da-dup
Dat-da da-do-do da-dup

i just resently got an assignment from school to do a song from the 40's of th opposite sex, and me and my two friends did it with the exact movments and we got an A plus and made the whole class crack up in laughter!!!! best time in my life!!!
I'm here because of the most fabulous show of all the time... Outlander!!!!! #Claire #thesearch.
Those harmonies, love them!
I like their hair style back then
one of my favorites........I was born in 1946 but grew up listening and loving these girls...
The last of the Andrew sisters died today age 94,may she rest in peace, their songs will never be forgotten.
They were just amazing !! A tribute to our country when people had taste in music, singing, and talent as a whole. Beauty, class, feeling, and such talent all in one. The greatest generation....immortal❤
I can't imagine the spirits these three ladies lifted at home and for the soldiers all over the world. It was a different world then... God bless their souls for a life of great service to their fellow man.
These girls weren't so young when they gave this performance, but their talent shines through! :¬)
this is Gold
why is this actually real good
Because it's always been good dumbshit.
because B L U E S
It's not even their best, imo.
You are listening some gourmet shit that's why
THis is actually real good because it reflects decent human endeavor. It's fun without being trashy. It doesn't poke fun at anyone and doesn't glorify violence. It's everything that kids today are not.
RIP Patty. This is classic. People of all colors love this song. It was phenomenal.
Love this song i was a teenager in the 6os great music then but still love this song
The generation of my recently departed Grandmother. Oh to have lived in those days! They really were the Greatest Generation.
Connie Courtney Yes, to have lived in the days of bombings, war and rationing. How great! :|
Outlaw Greaser Didn't have to worry about getting raped or robbed? Wow. Do you not understand how unaccepting, sexist, homophobic, racist, etc, etc our society was? I'm not even going to go into why your comment is fucking stupid.
***** You're an idiot. Firstly, never once did I mention America. I stated "our society", as in the first world society as a whole - in England, the US, Canada, etc. I know that many died for my freedom which is actually a reason I wrote as to why living in that time would be absolutely horrific. Why you would want to live in a world where there is death all around you is beyond me - I find it disrespectful that you view their experiences as something to have wanted, in fact. You disgust me, even.
***** You're so stupid. I mentioned "society" as a whole. Never once did I mention the American society. If you read primary accounts about _actual_ views of the time then you would realise how racist, homophobic and sexist people were. You don't need to look much further than the very laws in various countries. Being gay was illegal - yes, actually illegal - in American and the UK. Racial segregation was written _into the law_. I could go on and on about how fucking naive and disgusting you are to ever say that the era was better for anybody but I won't. Simply, how dare you state a time filled with hatred, war and death was better than our era. It's offensive to those that suffered deeply during the early-mid 20th century.
***** I'm done with this conversation. But before I end it - and this will be my last reply to you - honestly, are you that narcissistic that you believe God would hurt somebody that swore at you once? That is utterly, utterly ridiculous. God loves his followers. Also, no true Christian would ever, ever use God to threaten somebody. And this "threat" you have made means nothing to me - God would never make my life miserable because I swore at you. Even the suggestion you made that God would do that is entirely disgusting. In fact, it is one of the most disgusting things I have ever heard somebody say - short of saying the period of the world war was a good era to live in. You - yourself - you disgust me.
The pentatonix Brought me here ^_^ Thanks For Them

You may be only 10 years old, but you're a bright 10 year-old. I wish more people made music like this, too.
When you hear songs such as this, and the great jazz, pop, and rock & roll of previous eras, it makes you realize just how short-changed we are by the hip-hop and pop music of today.
certified banger
This is historic in several ways. One of them is that the sisters were making a World War II "V Disc," or "Victory Disc" to be sent to servicemen overseas. "V Disc" was a collaboration between the US Government and several record companies and many artists contributed their time and talent to make them.
RIP Patty X

R.I.P. Patty
And, Sophia, there are some musicians and singers who do cover versions (means they copy, sometimes with their own spin on a tune) of this style. You have probably heard of Bette Midler, and she agreed with you this style should be revived. So she covered this tune and had a big hit with it in 1973 or so (three decades after the Andrews Sisters' original). Check out The Divine Miss M's videos of "Boogie-Woogie Bugle Boy" here on You Tube.
Bette also liked Patty Page and Peggy Lee music.
R.I.P. Patty :-(((((

classic
cool ;-)
They were a bit obsessed with the old 'eight to the bar' stuff, those girls. It's a popular refrain in a number of their songs.
