Hello Robert, thanks a lot for this video. Made clear a lot of things. Do you if multiple users can access the same remote app simultaneously? For example lets say I have published Photoshop as a remote app, will 2 or more users be able to use it simultaneously?
Thank you for the great content @RobertCrane. I've one question - Can we remove the Login Prompt which comes every-time I try to access any application?
Great video, Robert, you saved me a lot of time. Are workspaces required to access a RemoteApp? I'd like to link directly to the RemoteApp if possible.
hello Robert, thank you for your guide. Can a remote app and desktop session app groups be behind the same host pool with 2x AVDs within the same workgroup? I can see clearly that behind your test environment it can but now (in 2024 at least be it a new thing or not) I cannot have both types presented within the same host pool/workspace, its either one or the other. Moreover, in the host pool there's a preferred app group type option that forces you to go towards one or the other but not both as you see to have it in your presentation. My host pool type is "pooled", thank you!
It is technically possible to have both RemoteApp and desktop session app groups within the same host pool in Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD), but it is generally not recommended. Assigning both types of application groups to the same user in a single host pool can lead to several issues. These include the potential for users to have two active sessions simultaneously, which can overload session hosts, cause login issues, result in black screens, or lead to application crashes. Microsoft advises setting a preferred application group type for each host pool to either Desktop or RemoteApp to avoid these issues. This setting ensures that users can only access the type of application group specified by the host pool's configuration, thereby preventing conflicts and improving session performance. If you need to serve both desktops and RemoteApps, it is recommended to use separate host pools for each type to maintain clarity and manageability
Thanks very much for this video. Question - If we have an application which calls another application from within, how would this work? For example, application A launches application B (like opens Excel or Adobe Reader, or something) - what would happen here? If we publish application B, will it work, or do you not think it will?
Application publishing is a PER application publishing. IN the back end it is still on a VM and you could install the second app but I doubt that it would display when the first app called it. You'd need to test it but I think the second app would run (if installed) but not display.
Robert - Thanks for this great content. I followed your steps exactly and still got this error: Oops, We couldn't connect to the seesionDesktop, Sign in failed, check your username and password and try again. Please advise. Thanks again.
Thanks for the gr8 video. I have a questions. how to add/access some 3rd party App from Remote Apps sections. Suppose i have App and i want to use it in AVD as a Remote APP then how to include that App under Add Application window????
Thank you!! Question: In your example of (Word, PS ISE) RemoteApps, are these leveraging the Cpu/memory from the 2 VMs that you have spunup in your host pool? If you open your 2 remoteApps, and in parallel login to your desktop, will you be able to see Word and PS ISE processes running in the task manager? Thanks in advance
Hi Robert I tried using the same method but whenever I try to connect in rdp I get sign in failed and I am using the right credentials do you have any suggestions
can we add multiple remote apps on a single hostpool under application group we know that if we have a desktop on a hostpool we cant add another desktop on hostpool is the same rule applied for remote app?
is it possible to setup an on-premise Microsoft Windows 10/11 Pool VDI with Office 365, Teams, OneDrive, Intune management, endpoint security, Best Practices using MS RDS with AAD single-sign-on /w FSLogix user & office profile say for 25 to 50 users ????
@@fbifido2 that’s makes a relevant reply hard. The concept of profiles on local device is largely irrelevant with cloud technologies. As I said enterprise state roaming and odfb know folder move is the modern equivalent
@@eduardoguzman6592 You can copy and paste via the session automatically. I would suggest saving to OneDrive for Business and syncing to desktop. But honestly, the idea is not to save stuff locally, you use a cloud to save files to the cloud and avoid the on prem hassles.
Thanks for these AVD videos. I watched the Basic AVD Setup video as well and it was really informative. Great job.
Great vid, the auto create in azure for AVD doesn't work, this tutorial worked perfectly! Thanks.

Depends on how you wanna scale it. That is totally up to you how you want the back end to increase as more users come on.
I have the same question. Did you find out if this is possible by any chance? Thanks. :)
this was changed 2-3 months ago as Microsoft Enforcing a preferred application group type now only allow either desktop or remote apps but not both!
Great videos Robert.

No u can just use the icon on desktop

Try going through the comments here as many have had the same issues. Typically it is permissions issues like Conditional Access
Would it be possible to setup RSAT using this method as well ?
I have not idea I'm sorry. I assume you could but you'd need to create and use a custom image of yoru own.

You publish the Remote apps to users. They see it in their access console. They can drag that to their desktop if desired

I don't you, I believe so. I have never looked.

Look through the comments. Conditional Access and enhance tenant security can play a role. You can always log a support call with MS as well.

I couldn't tell you off the top of my head. Check the documentation.

In short, no. AVD is designed for Azure not on prem

is possible install at mac with some app like cross over?
Not sure what you are asking. The remote client will run on a Mac allowing you to access AVD desktops and published apps
Can more than one user run the application in a remote session?
Provided that app is licensed and supports multi user. That is what AVD is all about.
Where does save data get stored? How would you export this data if you had to send a saved notepad file?
Where ever u want. Typically you'll be using cloud storage but it can effectively go just about anywhere provided you've set it all up.
