With a lot of Propagandhi songs, it takes me a few listens to fully grasp the awesomeness. The awesomeness flood gates of this song just opened the fuck up for me.
Honestly one of the best songs I've ever heard.
The best song. The only song. We accept no others...
I wholeheartedly concur. Still give me chills. Such a message. and what a fucking JAM
Propagandhi gave us this song and a majority of us listen to it and may not fully understand it. We're all here on this planet and we think of ourselves as individuals. However, there's way more to this "life" than any of us know. We're all connected and we don't realize it. Our souls are all connected. And together, we are part of an infinite consciousness. You, my friends, are God and you don't even know it yet.
It's absolutely true that the unifying principle of the universe is Love.
best band that ever existed. period! and I'm more of a metal/ hardcore guy yet these guys blow everyone off the stage!
There is no you there is no me there is all and that is all. Propagandhi is all around one of the best music bands ever. Great riffs, great lyrics, great everything. Met Tod when he played in I Spy, who is another phenomenal group, and he is just a great person. Looked up to Jesus H. Chris since 1993, one of my inspirations that got me to start playing guitar. Jord is the best drummer to ever play basic beats on a basic kit but not sound like it what so ever. Propagandhi fo life!
my god, best lyrics ever written, with a song to match. Life as good as it can ever be reproduced in a song right here.
This song is a beast, from my favorite Propaghandi record.
I didn't like this record at first but I now know its incredible. My bad...
That's how I've felt with every Propagandhi record. They just have to grow on you.
Robin Inget they always do :)
I must recognize that Failed States is probably their album that really needs to grow on you a lot compared to others, a bit like Victory Lap.
Failed states is just... Relentless and brutal. Too chaotic for me at first for me to just make an idea of it because I was mentally saturated, but now I really start to see its charm.
Potemkin city limits and even Supporting caste were easy enough to get into.
How to clean is good if you need to have a big smile and forget about shitty stuff and Less talk and Today's empires are both great if you want to piss on shitty senseless stuff around you.
ITS ONLY THE BEST!
...POWERFUL...INSPIRING...RIGHTEOUS
THEY BROKE THRU THE FIRMAMENT WITH "SPECULATIVE FICTION"....ONE OF THE BEST SONGS EVER WRITTEN.
I MEAN....THEY PUT THAT BAR SO FKN HIGH BY ANYBODY'S STANDARD IT SEEMED INSURPASABLE, AND YET THE PROCEEDING BUCKETS OF MUSICAL GOLD THAT FOLLOWED HAVE CONTINUED TO SHINE BRIGHTLY, QUENCHING OUR GROWING CHRONIC THIRST FOR AWESOME AND REAL.
happends with props
Find the podcast in which Chris explains this song. It's his own podcast, I've just forgotten the name.
It's so beautiful.
my favorite song off the album.
I didn't read through the comments until now. And I see that some folks have mentioned the same thing about this song and Ayahuasca and DMT. Powerful song and powerful experience, from what I've heard.
Love this song
the riff at 00:55 oh my god
Best Prop song!!
Look up Ayahuasca ceremonies and learn about what people experience. I've yet to experience it, but just reading about and watching documentaries on it, my mind and thoughts are consumed by this.
What is this guitar solo? Gosh, this solo takes my soul every time I listen to it, because it's so damn good!
I simply cannot believe one of the greatest punk bands (in my opinion) is still making music! I love how they're not so generic-styled punk rock like Bad Religion and Rise Against, but they're not as hardcore as Black Flag or Minor Threat. Their music and lyrics are both intelligent and it works remarkably! (No disrespect to the other bands I listed).
Pepinazo de tema!
Yeah!
Sweet. Still going strong.
also, Bad Religion is AWESOME!!
still reminds me of the flood reliefs of 1997 and 2008 and the fault lines at fukashima and Brandon Manitoba
I just shat myself!
sick
Land. Water. Talking about mountainous regions.... something far greater than the imagination....
About an Ayahuasca experience.
Possibly. As with many latter Propagandhi songs, as with many poems, it is likely about more than one thing. It's a deep song.
Corey Wayne I was thinking DMT . It sounds an awful lot like many reports of experiences with it. Maybe it's a profound coincidence but man does it feel like that is what's being described from the diligence I've done on it...I haven't wanted to try any "new" psychotropic substances until DMT was brought to my attention. I might be on a vision quest to experience it.
Rise
Propagandhi was formed in 1986, what's your point?
An Icaro is a Shipibo-Conbibo type of song, and yeah they perform Ayahuasca sacraments. So yeah.
DMT is a hell of a drug
The brain is the place of origin, wisdom, and liberty. F*ck mind control!! The geography is real and existant! Love purifying and delicious waters!!
Propagandhi sounded different in How To Clean Everything than they do now. Dude, I said that there was no disrespect for any of the bands I listed. I'm not a huge Black Flag or Rise Against fan. I'm more of a Leftover Crack guy. I never said Rise Against sucked. Chill, dude.
I love DMT
This song is about DMT or Ayahuasca for sure.
First !
I was always someone who hated major label punk. But honestly...Rise Against are a really good band, who didn't sell out in the slightest. They merely spread their message further.
FUck i can't understand what the fuck is this song about, is so good but i don't speak english and i can't grab the concept behind the lyrics.
It's about DMT. The DMT molecule is a "Duplicate key" which crosses the blood-brain barrier and fits our Serotonin receptors and stimulates the 5ht2a and 5ht2b sub-receptors, "Throwing the floodgates open on a raw datasphere of pure informatrion." The song goes on to describe the effects of psychedelics like DMT. It's not really possible to understand unless you've ever taken Shrooms, DMT (by itself or in Ayahuasca) or Mescaline.
Everyone loves the 'psychotropic drug' theory. I believe Hannah is making at best a passing reference to some substance. The meaning of this great song is that all forms of life, from humans, to insects, to plants are nothing more than appendages of one life. He describes the biological process of how this profound epiphany occurs to him. Primordial flow across the blood brain barrier...
it´s about drugs dude,oh sorry natural drugs made by god or nature or that something you believe in
It's about love... Simply...
Bad religion is owner of label know you know grittypitty fb
lol. 1999?? there are bands that have been around since the 60s and are still going, what does that have to do with anything? If a band is actually a punk band, they can't exactly be generic... Rise Against are definitely not a terrible band. But when a "punk" band does things like endorse a shoe company and release their own shoe called the "Rise Against Vegan Shoe" and play their videos on muchmusic all the time, are they really punk rock?... either way, they have nothing on Propagandhi.
the ramones advertised chuck taylors and didnt even get paid for it...im joking but only kinda
They sure did sell out like this against....that's for true same sound you can't deny it
