What I see is really neglected young people who want to have a voice and a better future. This came as a new form of music and it is art. Even it is a struggle for the moment with time it will have the recognition they deserve.

It’s really similar but isn’t the same. Musically it’s basically a remix between traditional Egyptian instruments and beats and Melodies with modern lyrics and rap like style. And socially it’s extremely under accepted because lots of Egyptians are very classist against people like mahragan singers. There is even political problems regarding mahragan because they keep getting banned every once in awhile until people protest.

Attitude and random ideas, but this is no revolution. Are there any women Mahraganat singers? How about any represetnation from LGBTQ community? Big words "greatest wealth is the Egyption people". Really? As long as the people are young men? Even the music and style are copied. There is no originality.

I bet you are fron the United States. Do you know anything about modern day Egypt? Because you seem incredibly ignorant and in an american-centric bubble.

Nothing is original no - we all take our inspiration from somewhere/something however they did start out with traditional music, marrying it with elements of rap and hip hop and produced it themselves on their home computers and it is always free for the street weddings - this is innovative and significant considering the oppression and lack of resources they suffer plus there are remarkably few options for self-expression - so this too needs to be applauded. There are some women but it is not so common no unlike hip hop in the USA - this is also a very patriarchal society after all and the concept of LGBTQ is not accepted by the majority of the culture/religion so if they are, you will never know because they must be discreet about it or risk getting beaten to death also not unlike in the USA although youth there have access to massive opportunities and resources in comparison. Regardless, it doesn't have to be your cup of tea ;)
