It's phenomenal how Terran soundtracks fit perfectly with marching Marines and Goliaths, drifting Vultures and tanks.. I mean just can just FEEL and HEAR the noise of these troops with all their badassness on their way ready to kick some Zerg ass. Amazing masterpieces.
when terran 2 kicks into gear around 8:35 , i actually picture SCVs blueprinting bunkers, turrets and building them just in time for an enemy assault terran 2 is engineering music, it's what industry sounds like

I can't hear Terran 3 without also hearing SCVs talking. "I Read ya" "Loud and clear!" "Roger that." I spent a lot of childhood playing Terran and hearing this great music.
The first soundtrack gives an eerie feeling I can't really describe, it's like you are in an off dimension of some kind where there are computers everywhere but there is no one.
Like you are in a retro futuristic universe, on a planet far removed from your home civilization, building a mechanized force to defend your outpost from the unknown.
Every time I play SC2 I can only handle have StarCraft/BroodWar soundtrack playing, it just feels more right for the sci-fi setting of the game than the new soundtrack. Also the old soundtrack is just more epic and pulls you into the feel of the game more.
As someone who got into SC2 first, in LotV times, SC1 soundtrack holds perfectly on its own. Depending on the race, Id even say its the superior experience. -Terran: Its a draw. -Zerg: SC1 -Protoss: SC2
SC1's Terran music has a really cool sci-fi edge to it while still being kind of folksy. SC2's is full-on "Hey, do you guys remember Firefly?". Not a bad thing by any means, but just not as unique.
SC1 wins by some margin, but I like SC2's as well. I mashed them together using that 'rave dj' site, worked out pretty well, actually, probably my favorite thing I've put together there. It played the beginning of Terran 1 a lot, it knows what the 'good part' is.
It's not just the childhood nostalgia. Everything about this game just hits the spot, they don't make them like they used to. This soundtrack is perfection, I never caught all the little nuances until now with good headphones.
As someone younger than SC who played broodwar after Sc2, I can confirm that it is artistically incredible. I kind of have trouble playing Sc2 now because it looks and sounds worse.

An ex bf of my Mum's used to smoke weed in the pc room playing this while my brother and I played Resident Evil in the living room. This particular track is forever linked to the background of Resident Evil 1 on Ps1 to this day.

Growing up with the original Starcraft with no expansion, Terran 1-3 end up being some of my favorite pieces of music ever, especially since it's already some of the best music out there. Terran 4 is very out of place next to these.
I get the impression that Terran 4 was made with the intention of it being the UED's music, hence its more conventionally military marching sound. From what I recall the UED was originally going to be its own faction with unique units, though this concept was cut for time and budget reasons, so maybe the track was made with that in mind, but was just reincorporated into the Terran OST when they scrapped the UED as its own race idea.

this is crazy. The amount of creativity and originality these tracks have is incredible. I think the Starcraft OST is one of the best tracks in the entire music history.

I am currently replaying this masterpiece of a game and the music is just *chef's kiss* In order of awesomeness: Terran Zerg (almost tied with the terrans) Protoss (theirs is kinda meh compared to the other 2)
The first Starcraft have a very nihilistic storyline were good guy winning battle after battle only to get even worse and worse crisis and shocking revelations also the bad guys cause a lot havoc and always gets the last laugh at the end.
