Something that always stuck with me is the fact that the series starts you out as a hollow with a broken sword hilt, all the way back in the Undead Asylum. It finishes with you, a fully fledged undead warrior, fightint a hollow with a broken sword. Poetics at its finest
Its so deeply poetic that the last fight of all of the souls series is between two nameless nobodies in a world that will not remember them, nothing is gained or lost regardless of who wins or loses. No one will ever know this fight even happened in history.
They are both nobodies and at the same time the most resilient and cunning beings in the entire world. They lived to the end of the world outliving even the gods and their golden cities. They are a testament to the tenacity of humanity and humans.
@ZergMeTaSWORM I think the part of the fight that truly speaks volumes is Gaels lightning, you're both so far into the future that Gwyns essence, his warmth and his spirit are completely gone from this wasteland, replaced by the coldness of a lightning formed of mankind's essence.
not quite. The winner was important in the first phase, cause he actually fights you for your dark soul. But when you make him bleed and he recognises his blood to be the "Blood of the Dark Soul", he understands that he has completed his mission and that you'll bring it to the painter. He has lived so long and fought for so long that as soon as he understands his purpose was fulfilled, he instantly goes hollow and completely changes fighting style from looking like a beast to actually fighting like a skilled warrior with miracles, magic, a crossbow. The skulls are his very essence being vaporized by the power of the dark soul.

The last dance of a god-tier trilogy: two nobodies fighting nowhere over nothing, to spill the blood of one of their dark souls for a painting neither will live to see. ABSOLUTE CINEMA
The fact that Slave Knights were a thing really puts things into perspective. What better way to clean up your cities and villages of the undead than putting them to work in your army? They cannot die, you can send them into battle as many times as you like. I wish we could’ve seen a bit of that. Just a bit, to scratch the hitch yk?

No one will ever know of this fight, nothing will be heard about it, the world will never acknowledge it, but it will be the only time since time began will The Dark Soul ever be whole. And the world reacted with a silent whimper.
And that is a fact. I am learning quite a few Fromsoft soundtracks on my piano and Elden Ring is playing it really safe. Dark Souls 3 has so much boldness in its music, dissonances everywhere, it is extremely unique and no two songs are the same, they are damn hard to learn. The DS3 Soundtrack is carrying so much emotional value from the story and returning it back. Meanwhile Elden Ring is still really good, but you could confuse 80% of the songs for somewhat generic fantasy soundtracks. Even the main theme, which i love, is mostly a regular 4 chord progression that you would get in most regular pop songs. The one real artistic standout with Elden Ring is the final bossfight where you fight Radagon and then the Elden Beast back to back, the change in tone and emotional value within the same bossfight is amazing, each by themselves is decent, but the exchange in between Radagons heroic track (which is also the games main theme but slightly different so even here it is a slight letdown) turning into this calm and spiritual soundtrack of the Elden Beast really gets me everytime.
Yeah, almost all of Elden Ring's OST is forgettable, meanwhile I still remember so many of DS3s soundtracks perfectly. Vordt, the Dancer, Nameless King, Gael, Secret Betrayal... All of them awe inspiring and beautiful. Meanwhile Elden Ring's ost except for the main theme is just an orchestral cacophony.
one of these days i gotta replay ds 1 through 3 in order and make the same character in all of them purely to make this fight feel like an even greater culmination than it already is; two undead who've been there from the beginning duking it out
Played elden ring, replayed the Base and DLC themes, came back to DS3, replayed all the themes of bosses that took me hours to conquer. Swapped to Bloodborne some point, replayed Laurence and Ludwig. Finally arrived on Gael. The Emotions culminated from replaying all these legendary games before facing off with Gael was incredible. The largest Nostalgia trip I’ve ever done. What a brilliant series.
Just beat this boss. Such a good fight that’s only enhanced with this music. Wish there was more jolly cooperation in 2024 so I could help someone else fight him :(
The demons are gone. The gods are dead. The pygmy lords, decrepit and wailing. Kingdoms have come and gone, mashed together into an amalgam and buried under eons of sand. And there, amidst the lifeless wasteland are two hollows, fighting over nothing at the end of the world.
There may be better games in the future, but i am convinced i will not experience a higher peak than this single fight when it comes to videogames as art in my lifetime. The combination of all these aspects, the muscial theme, the theme of the actual event and it's devastatingly pointless outcome. The amalgamated agony of two entire worlds suffering through two separate hopeless fights against the impending finality of all that is, resulting in a duel by those who remain at the end of existence itself, with no witness, no purpose, no hope. It is thematic brilliance.
That can of paint is the most valuable thing in a world that is slowly but surely turning into dunes and deserts of ash, a paint made from the soul that created those last two men and every other human ever.
There is no way I see FromSoft creat a better boss than Gale not in term lore ,fighting, and OST There is no way they can do better than this , this is 100% peak boss in gaming industry ! No way Elden Ring DLC would be any better
I feel the same way. Don't get me wrong. Shadow of the Erdtree will most likely end up blowing Ringed City and Old Hunters out of the water, but nothing will ever top Slave Knight Gael as a boss. The build up from Ashes of Ariandel and him guiding you all throughout the Ringed City until you reach his boss arena was just peak.

@@axios4702Mohg’s theme kinda slaps ngl
Midra for me but yeah this one so good
And Bayle and lion divine beast and godskin duo and Godfrey and Elden beast and radagon and rellana
What, still here? Hand it over.... that thing... your dark soul.. for my lady's painting..
I told you ! Nobody can beat Gale
Here after Elden Ring DLC
“OH GREAT HEAVENS!”
The last two hollows left standing at the end of the world fighting to decide who’s the hardest MFing human since The Pygmy
Ashen one aren’t hollow
@ mine always is lol
Thanks
I defeated gale the first try it was such an intense battle perfect ending to the series now I’m too scared to fight him again 😂
Good. I beat him first try as well and decided to fight him again and got cooked lol keep listening to your gut.
@@yaketsukuzu6478 that’s exactly what I’m afraid of lol
Best OST BOSS EVER MADE in any souls included elden ring.
Ah, is this the blood?....The blood of the Dark soul
one of these days i gotta replay ds 1 through 3 in order and make the same character in all of them purely to make this fight feel like an even greater culmination than it already is; two undead who've been there from the beginning duking it out
The only boss that even begins to approach Gael is Ludwig... for almost the exact same reasons
idk how long it was down but if I know anything about souls players, it was probably about as long as it takes me to die to gael (~1 minute tops)
Hand it over. That thing, your Soulsborne OST playlist.
"For my lady's painting..."
Pour one for the homie Gael, out here risking it all for the fam!🙌
Epic.
"Is this jolly cooperation?"
Watch this guy appear in elden ring
Best fight of all time
Still here in 2025 ?
Give it to me, that thing, this masterpiece of an ost
The fight I put my summon sign down for more than any other just to do it again.
Phase 1- Slave Knight Gael
Phase 2- Gael, the Last Hollow
Phase 3- Gael, the Embodiment of the Dark Soul
As much as I love fighting Malenia and Lady Maria in a battle of skill, I love still the absolute chaos and tenacity of Gael
this is perfect
can you somehow attach For the dark souls in the ending ?
Soul of Cinder is the final boss of Dark Souls 3
Slave Knight Gael is the final boss of Dark Souls itself
0:58 why I hear the Discord sound
Schizophrenia
This ost makes me wana finish the ds3 dlc which I am going to do
The real final boss of DS3
There may be better games in the future, but i am convinced i will not experience a higher peak than this single fight when it comes to videogames as art in my lifetime.
The combination of all these aspects, the muscial theme, the theme of the actual event and it's devastatingly pointless outcome. The amalgamated agony of two entire worlds suffering through two separate hopeless fights against the impending finality of all that is, resulting in a duel by those who remain at the end of existence itself, with no witness, no purpose, no hope.
It is thematic brilliance.
How could you hear something like this and then not even nominate the game for best Music?
Game awards have akways been a joke, the winner is always the one who pays the biggest amount of money to the judge.
This OST represents exactly the amount of time it took me to kill Gael. I suffered too much. Traumatic!
john dark souls 3 vs the ashen one
I completed the Souls Saga with DLCs included. My favorite one was DS3. ¿Do you guys recommend Elden Ring?
Yea is a great game
Ashen One versus Gael... The Battle between two men over a can of paint...
That can of paint is the most valuable thing in a world that is slowly but surely turning into dunes and deserts of ash, a paint made from the soul that created those last two men and every other human ever.
Loucura 5:12
There is no way I see FromSoft creat a better boss than Gale not in term lore ,fighting, and OST
There is no way they can do better than this , this is 100% peak boss in gaming industry !

Dark Souls 3 >>> Elden Ring in terms of of bosses ,lores, and OSTs
Anyone who disagree probably only played Elden Ring
I will be honest Bloodborne is my first soul game but Elden Ring was the first one to finsh
After that I finished the rest
Still Dark Souls 3 impact me the most
Soul of Cinder and Gale
Mam the lore and the OST are still making me tears randomly ,specially Soul of Cinder
The credit of Dark Souls 3 Epilogue made me cry that night because
It was my last semester in Engineering college after so many struggles and finishing this game gave me one last boost to graduate
What a ride of both gaming and study of my life in 2022 !
