My younger sister lost her fight to cancer this morning. Listening to this reminds me of when were in our 20s and 30 and we would just hit the road 1 or 2 am with this and the song "Riding High". R.I.P little sister.
Sorry for your loss.
God bless you all ⚘
May her soul be a peace and may she rest heavenly forever. 🤍
Are you talking about riding high from faze-o ?
May she rest in paradise, god bless
Her memory be eternal. I am sorry for your loss.
Sorry for your loss
In memory of my late husband Woody Sparrow a original member of Kool and THE GANG MAY U REST IN PEACE..
Nobody will believe that this song was done by Kool & the Gang, classic
I'm a 61 yr old white woman (who grew up outside of Baltimore) who grew up in the ’70s. “Cool & the Gang” was yes a black band, but so was every “Motown Hit.” My 1st 45 record was “Diana Ross.” We NEVER once used or heard the N-word or gave a shit if you were black or white. We loved ALL the COOL music the black artist played. And we also listened to Led Zeppelin, Stones, Doors, etc.
This world is a mess right now! Our music influenced us then and unfortunately today. The lyrics & garbage they call music today are sinful!
True but the worlds been messed up. Not just right now.
I am a man of color and I love all music back when I was growing up and I'm almost 70 I listen to everything r&b Rock Disco my favorite groups were groups like cream, LED zeppelin, black sabbath, Grand funk railroad, Pink Floyd those were a lot of my music but I love my r&b too James Brown, Isaac Hayes, Al green, I just love music Kool & the gang, Sly and the Family Stones I love music and I still love real music today
not sure what made this a race thing with you. nobody said anything about race. music is music, we all have ears and a want to tickle them with music no matter where the music comes from. black and white and baltimore... shut up with the race shit. its music, music sees no color... only racist people do, so id take a hard look in the mirror next time you go to say something when youre listening to diana ross again. you think she cares who listens to her music? she made it for all to enjoy. liberals made racebaiting to separate us by colors. stupidest ideology ive ever heard. worked on you apparently. seems to work on the weak minded.
You won't hear music like this recorded again. So enjoy.
word baby!
it pains me to read so many ignorant poor souls who have no idea the amazing stuff coming out today. there's so much coming out in a single day that you couldn't possibly hear it all, yet you sit there complaining there's nothing of value. turn off the radio, you need to dig for it woman.
stop living in the past, give today's world, of which you are a part of, some credit.
It's not just the music. It was the era a period of time associated with something. You have no idea what this music is really all about and the meaning behind it.....Maybe your age in the era you live in is ignorant. I know music it's not just for the ear. It's for the mind and the soul...........
VIVIAN MACKENZIE
you have gone blind and deaf
You are blind and deaf, young I guess, and naive. I post comments on music videos from around the world. Go to my Blog and read all the comments I make on people's music from every country I know. Sweetie sees I'm a person who listens to music not only with the ear, but the mind and soul because most artists I listen to are not black artists. I don't understand the languages but their music touch, something inside so I leave a comment. Is that simple enough for you? I'm international when it comes to music. I'm Global I love it all............. This is a very fine piece. Why are you listening to it and making comments? You know good music I will give you that much.
May my
Dad rest in paradise he used to play this song every morning on our ways to work and school still playing this one for ya Dad. ❤️
Sara G As a Dad, that touched me. R.I.Paradise Mr. G.
Sara G That's nice to hear.
Summer's around the corner I'm sure this tune will be playing though your head.
Sara G R.I.P. Dad... touched me too!
Sara G
Put it on Loop for Mr. G! I bet it's keeping a smile on his face.
Sara G awesomeriffic Sara G
I miss my grandma and grandpa man… they just knew what to say and how to make everything feel better..
I know how you feel
I'm 64 and can't understand why summer madness is guaranteed to make me feel sad and turn on the tears but I need a woman to hug
this is one of the most timeless pieces of music
A evening of heavy rain hitting the window. Glass of your favorite drink. No lights, just the glow of the fireplace a soft couch and the person you love next to you enjoying this groove. Memories
Walter Parker definitely feeling that vibe!
yeah good evening.
Fasho right on
keep it going, not just in memories,
I dont really need a fireplace and stuff so its almost settled. just a person i love is to be added
This on a raining day in Los Angeles with a joint in your hand... while you just stare out the window is everything 🌧
I'm 27 years old and I love this era of music more than anything I've heard in my time.
iM 27 YeArS OlD and I LoVe ThIs Era oF MuSiC!! Nerd 🤓
Welcome to our world!
Better Era Of Music Ok
These comments are touching. Long live you all.
Summer Madness
Love reading the comments on these old jams, brings ya back in time.
You need the trilogy fight with connor
Nah, I cringe.
Reading the comments, I see how this song affects everyone. And, when music can transport you or make you feel a certain way every time... that's real music.
Could have this tune playing 24/7 nonstop.
One of the most brilliant compositions of all time, in every way. Pure musical perfection.
Every time you think the pitch can't go higher than that but it does.... it always does.
The Rosezy. this is a song that make you Feel good and think what was your heart was doing or whom was you thinking about wanting to be with and wondering why there not with you and why that think is your being the way you are because thay can't make there mine
I also thought that when I first heard it lol. Please check my video out that i did to this channel, much appreciated. Peace
So true!
hahahaha
I love when it hits that dentist drill pitch lol
it's art when you can express your feelings without words. that is why I love this
Exactly BEAUTIFUL
dayyim you are right mamma
Lysa Wade Agreed
I loved that synthesiser solo
SUBLIME!!!!!!!!! ;))
This song came out in 1974. The summer of 1974 was full of summer madness from what I recall. At least for me it was. That was the summer that my family and I moved to another house. We didn't move very far. In fact, we even stayed in the same county where we were living. However, I was just a little kid back then, so that was a big deal to me. This song captures the atmosphere perfectly of what that summer was like for me back in 1974.
This is the jam.. I have tears streaming down my face as I rock to this. The memories of Summertime Madness are beautiful! On the road, cruising. Youngstown, Ohio Circa 70’ and 80’s. The hometown of Robert Kool Bell.🙌🏾🌟💎
That's amazing!
Kool and the gang demonstrating smoothness, funk, jazz, r&b, and true mastery of their instruments and sounds. Legendary!!!!
Driving in the Nevada desert at night with this piece on the stereo... incomparable....
Adoro perdermi nella più "sfrenata" malinconia ...ascoltando questo CAPOLAVORO!!!
This song just never, ever, gets old. ALWAYS sounds good. Every time, always. No matter the time of day or activity - weekend cleaning, afternoon BBQ with friends and fam, while having a good drive with the wind blowing, late night relaxing, while having some good lovin', whatever. Doesn't matter. It's always just so good.
Stay positive
Seriously could have this tune playing 24/7. Never get tired of hearing this classic. Jazz masters.
Exactly so relaxing!!!
Me too😂
Now and Forever !
I’m with you it makes me feel so good and makes me think of my time in Cali beautiful weather no drama
With love making All 🌙Long....so Nice
Funny how a song is so different for so many different people.
I hear this, I hear myself sitting into a sports car, shutting the door, cranking it up, and coasting down some street lit city streets. Summer at night just going. No destination. Not fast, just cruising. Top down enjoying the warm air outside.
God I love this song.
TheDirtyGoatee
Wow I can relate my vision also. I see my life journey in this song
TheDirtyGoatee
Road trip to anywhere.😎
I hate to say but it reminds me of being a kid in LA and waking up to gunshots and screeching tires. But it also reminds me of running down the street to play. It reminds me about everything I miss and like to forget about the city.
in my 280 z
that would be location not the song. the song may have dropped when you lived there but the compton gb thing has nothing to do with the song
I love this song. Charles’s octave playing was delicate and groovy. Kool’s bass tone is scrumptious. I always like George’s drumming. The synth tone was so warm analog. Great mood.
I Love This version of Summer Madness. Over 40 years and Going Strong. R&B / Smooth Jazz.
I Love the Bass in This Song, Feel the Music.
when music was ART!!!!!
it still is, one can not look to mainstream as an actual representation of music as an "art". If you did on this track, I'd suggest checking out Mushroom Jazz 4 and 6. It'll suit you just as well.
*fine art
All music is art that’s why they call it an artform
music still is art nerd you're just too lazy to find music you like
I love this song. I want to be having a drink with someone and relaxing.
Crying while listening and remembering people places things and this beautifully smooth groove. This long version will always be one of my top 10 favorites 🎵🎶♥️
I’m 65 hearing this reminds me of being a stoned 19 year old in a college dorm and the laughing, just quiet gentle laughing
Me too Bruh.
Wow. Amazing
By far the best song to get high to
As a college 20 year old, I'm learning more and more to take advantage of this time. I'll smoke one for you brother.
Great music for a romantic evening with a nice lady- talking, burning some candles. Nothing like some smooth jazz for a romantic night.
Maaaan, born in '74 when this came out and my mother wore this song out whenever she puts me to be in my crib...so happy I was born in an era of some hellafied music!!
Me, too, man. I was born 72
+Demetrius Roberts 77 here fam!!!
There's NO era in music that can compare to the 70s, hands down!! 💪✊🎼🎹🎷🎺🎵
Demetrius Roberts I played this song for my baby when he was a baby
D. Roberts I was born in 65
reminds me of when the block party was winding down and the old folks was still up drinkin' and talkin'.
Brad Williamson sounds chill Asf
What's a block party?
Good time
Brad Williamson yesssssss 💯 💯 💯!!
Simeon Banner you must not be from Chi Town!!! It’s where the grown ups get permission by the City to block off the street on both ends so no cars can drive through. Then ALL the neighbors bring out BBQ grills, card tables, food, MUSIC 🎵- usually there is a DJ - and a HUGE JUMPING JACK, BOUNCY HOUSE for the kids & games - maybe entertainment, family friendly- clowns, water balloons, food, drinks, music, fun.... I thought EVERY Neighbrhood had these - Summer parties 🎉 in the street - on your block. Thus the name “Block Party” 😁👍🏽❤️💯
One of my favorites all time..I asked wifey to play this at my funeral should i go before her. This was my go to song when I just wanted to think about life, current situations that needed to be resolved; i'd take the headphones go to the beach watch the waves and listen to the beat
Timeless song, could fully keep this on a loop all day👌🏾
The greatest grown folks song ever!!!
why does it have to be grown folks? do you think the youth can't appreciate something this great?
Vincent Nicosia why does it even matter? just enjoy the song and chill out!
It doesn't matter... that was my whole point, music can't be just for one specific group all people can enjoy! God bless you my man
...Summer of 1974, fresh out of High School , in my '63 Blue Pontiac Bonneville, 303hp, with Kool and The Gang's sounds jammin' on my 8-track...Good Times!...
Yes!
Kool. And. The. Gang. Live
This song sonically and spiritually takes me away. It just puts in a good place in my soul. My favorite song of all time.
On full blast taking this trip nice and slow.
Rocky listens to this when he's drinking a beer lying on his bed in his apartment early on in the film.
wen i listen to this song i think about ma Nana. I miss her so much 7-18-1924 to 8-26-2016
My condolences to you my brother
+Mark Floors thanx so much God Bless you
Jamal Wyche condolences to you😳
Jamal Wyche Sorry for your loss :(😞
Sorry to hear it, but that is a good long life. My own grandmother (last living grandparent) turned 92 this year.
"...and this is The Fresh Prince's new definition of Summer Madness".
Love this track to sit back and unwind.
One of the most amazing pieces of music I've ever heard. Still blows me away after all of these years. Don't think any other R&B group ever topped this instrumentation. (but of course this is acid jazz)
By far one of the best songs I have ever heard, so smooth...
Preach my brother, preach.
This is the true essence of black soul. It will put you in a spiritual trance.
Who still listens to this right now? 2019! Best ever in my book! 😍🥰
Takes me back to 1977 when I lived in Windsor next to Detroit and this was playing on WJZZZ. I had the record the next day. Still close to my heart. I just heard this track on a radio station a few minutes and did it ever blow my mind.
Some seriously sweet time travel goin' on here with this classic. Rush of great memories of late night Detroit 70s/80s come flooding in. Sure would give just about anything to go back. Black, white, brown, whatever....let's get it together folks. Love and peace, all....
Fellow Detroiter tapping in. I was born in 88 but this is the kind of music I grew up on surrounded by all the OG's. Salute
@@simongarza5720 Fellow Detroiter, 1963.
I'm addicted to this right now.
Calgon take me away. Back to the 70's with Peace and Love though
Always loved old school music, I was 20 years old in 1974. I moved to southeast Wisconsin. Lived between Milwaukee and Chicago. So Summer Maddness brings me tears. I'm 65 years of age and this music is so close to my heart. Chicago radio station V-103 , Thank you!
this is just sexiness...I love this music so much! Thanks to my dad for raising me on this beautiful, soulful music. I wanna be by a lake with a joint, a margarita and my sketchbook..ideal day
When im at the end of my time if this is the last sound i hear i will have been blessed
Me 2.
With this song you don't need anything just close your eyes and let your mind take you somewhere just naturally
This song reminds me of going to the beach and the pier
AMEN!!! 🤗
You can play this at my funeral leave you grooving not grieving
My all time favorite song in life. No matter the time, day, month or year, it's still all good, period. Family picnics, joyrides with my parents and so many other good memories behind this song. And when they perform it live, they never disappoint. That groove is everything.
I saw kool n gang at san diego civic theater summer madness blew my mind, ya!
I diggin on that
LaCheleWallace i thought I was the only on to claim it " favorite for life "
Lafayette Mitchell OKAAAAAY! This is always gon be my favorite.
+LaCheleWallace It's mine too! lol
This song gives me a healing tingling sensation! Wow❤
Same here, thsts what they call amsr
I remember when i was 18 i just left home got my first car it was a 1962 Ford Falcon i put a 8 track and this is one of my favorite bands back then. This song brings back great memories of those days. Those were great times to be a live and i was truly happy.
This is one of my all time instrumental tracks, just love the early Jazz fused Kool & The Gang material, before they realised what a Ladies Night can do for you lol, this track has hypnotically eerie led melodies along synthesizer lines, which just oozes quality all the way through, i have never played this once on my deck, always requires a rewind, its Winter Sadness but miss the Summer Madness
Hypnotically eerie, wistfully entrancing. So deliciously jazzy, bordering on the existential. Can't believe Summer Madness and Ladies' Night came from the same band, they sound so opposite in feeling.
yeah its been a long cold winter here in ny, but we ready for summer madness, cant wait, damn shame im 52 lol
Zeit Geist you are very descriptive, to me its like a hot hazy summer day
That's what I meant to say in the first place: "like a hot hazy summer day".
J Eshun
Check out the Beastie Boys "Song for Junior".
Chillin' early in the spring of 2015. The weather is breakin hot in mid March, St. Patrick's day. Some are drinking green beer, others are drinking 40's. Your choice. Ain't grilling yet but it's coming. Can't wait to explode this endless classic through the speakers later on this summer at a cookout. But for now, I'm enjoying this jazzy run on my balcony and sippin' and looking at God's beauty, and saying "wow."
Ride
This track is me driving around Phoenix at night during the deep summer, gliding along the freeways with barely anyone around doing 5 lane sweeps and feeling some hot desert air blowing in over a lil A/C
SUPER CHILL N SMOOTH 💎
In my humble opinion this is THE BEST INSTRUMENTAL OF ALL TIME!!! (yes that includes MFSB, The Art of Noise, etc....)
Mad vibes. One of those tunes you can listen to all day.
No words can describe this incredible sound. I think Kool & the Gang finally came up with the definition for the word "LOVE".
I’m 68, didn’t know until a few years ago this song existed! Blew me away, still does!
I was born in the late 70s. It is only now I am really digging around in the crates to find the real greats. People say the 60s or the 80s were the best decades of music. I disagree; the 70s was the meat filling to the sandwich....
If i can fly, this would be the song i'd listen to.
For all you Detroit peeps that remember WNIC 100.3 fm and Alan Almonds "Pillow Talk" at the 'Witching Hour' of midnight when he signed off every night!!!!! RIP Alan!!!!
i loved listening to him. he was synonymous with detroit!
+Adam Rendall Every time I hear this song I think of him lol
Oh ya me too. I miss those late night drives with him on the radio while this song was playing!
I have to admit we'd smoke a joint right before midnight lol and when that song came on OMG! LMAO the good ole days😂😂😂😂😂😂
"Sweet dreams, angel."
Above the clouds
stay medicated
My go 2 jam such a classic song
wake n bake
Summer 2018 .. 🤙
Jazzy Jeff done exactly what everybody else wanted to do as soon as they heard this!
He done justice to this classic by creating another from it..
#RESPECT
music truly is the soundtrack to our lives ... memories of being a little kid with my family, Saturday mornings and a record player 🌼
This just might be the most beautiful recording of music in human history!
It’s a rather hot humid summer night here (hawaii). Laying on an old lounger on my patio with a cold drink w/ plenty of ice, and looking up at the stars while listening to this groovy music and thinking how blessed I am. Thank YOU, GOD.
I'm 19 and this is one of my favourite songs. At the moment, I dont really have a definite direction in life and there are some obstacles that i need to overcome. I listen to this song to calm down, to remind myself, that everything is going to be alright and that i got this shit and that there's nothing that can happen to me that i wont be able to deal with.
Thank you, all you old souls, writing under these old jams and sharing your thoughts and experiences. I appreciate you. I wish you the best. Love it is. Whatever may be. We got this.
I can say this, you got great taste!
@@Interval144 Thank you. So do you :)
Simply amazing! Who would dislike this? With no lyrics, I would listen to this over any song currently on the radio now and this is coming from someone under 30yrs of age.
It does not get much better than this ...
Will Smith "Summertime",Aaliyah "A girl like me",Mila J "kicking back" and many more sampled this piece of gold (song).
This is also a sample
I can't believe this thing is almost 50 years old! They used to play this on the radio when I was a kid growing up in Barbados and I still feel the same way now as I did back then every single time I hear it. The synth chords are nothing less than sick!!!❤❤❤
Awesome Guitar, Bass, and that amazing Fender Rose Sound! Awesome! They Gotz Skills.
+Echoch San Carlos Claydes Smith was on a Les Paul guitar i believe. Kool was playing a Fender P back then. Before he went onto Zon basses. The Fender Rhodes---that is what Ronald Bell is crushin' on. thank you. Skillz beyond skeelzz!!!LOL ...Truly Awesome funk sauce!!
I grew up listening to this song , it takes me away and takes me home and at times were i need to be
Same here darling. Email me. Oscar7204@yahoo.com
is that a pick up line, or what?
+Gloria Scott That's pretty presumptuous isn't it? Can't we just listen to music anymore without someone being even slightly vulgar, or wanting to make something that isn't there? Oh, and by the way Mrs Scott, great choice in music...
+Carl J. Scott Thank you Mr.Scott , Thank you for finding this song for me .. when I am with you this is how you make me feel whole this is our life's theme . smooth, sexy , sultry .. I love you !
+Gloria Scott You are my baby!!! oxoxoxoxoxo!!!! This song is the one we searched for and spent hours listening to... It reminds me of you. I love you!!!
This is without a doubt one of the SONGS OF MY LIFE!
This is way ahead of its time.
Entering the timeless baby
No, it was of its time, but is timeless.
Disagreed. This doesn't sound anywhere near modern. Sounds exactly like 1974. Definitely of it's time, but a lovely piece, nonetheless.
The only vibes I get from this song are early-mid 70s vibes. Its definitely a product of it's time. It sounds great though.
Man, this song makes me think of my dad. Such a good and warm soul. Rest easy dad. This song's for you.
Masterpiece.
GOD I miss BOSTON during those times.so precious to me.wilder st.during the 70s stand up please
K&G bring it to another level altogether.. You can never get enough of this unique musical expression ❤️
Smooooooooooooooooooooth!!
Scarlett Begonias foreal no lie
On a sailboat off the California coast, sailing toward Catalina and a gorgeous sunset, a glass of wine and your favorite other next to you chillin'. Thinking about what the coming night will bring in the great year of 1975. It was all so good, and somehow we messed it all up.
No matter what natives Californians are going through, and how awful it became...,I'll be here until the day of rest,bc I love the weather, oceans & theme parks etc etc etc...we have it all,we can do without these corruptitions here 😩!!
im only 16 but i really enjoy this music much respect for a classic
EMARI KING you want a star you special snowflake?
Rude Boy Kyle but u r a kid
Rude Boy Kyle to me it seems like u mad you mad bruh dont be mad
that's my nickname. I'm not mad at all
ignore his ignorance honey!
now and again a band comes up with a timeless masterpiece, for kool and the gang this is theirs.
this takes me back home to detroit....cruising around downtown and belle Isle....
Gwendolyn Jones me cruising down Ocean View in my Sports Car in GTA Vice City
same. except sub detroit for pontiac
Gwendolyn Jones ☺ happy
Jefferson straight to Belle Isle. 1975 Central high school theme song. Mayor Young class speaker. Best Memories ever. Centralites Trailblazers.
If this ain't one of the most 'koolest' jazz tunes! This song along with Micheal Jackson's "Human Nature" is on my all time favorite list!! Kool & the Gang had many hit songs, but they out did themselves with this one here! Just make sure you have 'good speakers' to get the best sound possible. At 0:20 when the bass first falls in, just kills me!!!
Yes Sir E.....I was introduced to Jazz & this jam in the 70;s when it dropped... Synthersizer & , Reverbs... Check out "Flight Time", by Donald Byrd.....It goes real hard....repeat & repeat.....
Found this in my dads CD collection, one of instant favorites. If you're ever have a bad day and need to calm yourself, this is the jam right here. One of those beats you wish would never end.
This song is a tele transporter.... golden 70s and Platinum 80s.
Speaking of Kool. Met him Sat after their sick Concert in Long Island NY [Westbury Music Fair - rotating stage] They ripped Hollywood Swinging' tah Death!!!...
Great guy--- told him he is the reason i play the bass today. He was glad. I will see them in August at the new Coney Island Amphitheater!!
So stoked!!
[Ronald Bell did not play Summer Madness...he played sax all night. Great Sax ...he and DT Thomas did a sick sick sick dual sax solo on ...damn o forgot it was so cooooool...Oh yeah...Funky Stuff!
Only if you had spelt "cool" with a K, that would have been so fitting 😉
Your experiences sounded nice though 👌🏼
#FAIRPLAY
I could listen to this all night.
Oh what am I saying, I have!
This was one of my Mother's favorite song .... This was our Saturday clean up day song..... ON REPEAT..... #RIPMOMMA❤️
Close your eyes, that's right, remember that great past. So smooth...………..
Nice drive home from work groove.👍👍👍
Hell yeah....or on the way to work...walk in there like !!!!!
E' bene palesare quanto sia piacevole ascoltare bella ed importante musica come questa.
I'm 41 years old and can remember hearing this song in my teenage years but never knew the name of it. Listening to this always put me in a relaxing and peaceful mood.
Similar story: used to hear this song played on some Detroit Soul/R&B station every night while driving at night--some DJ used it as his theme song for a late night pillow talk show--and he'd play the whole song and sometimes use it as his bridge and/or background when he spoke. Such great memories. Such a timeless masterpiece.
I'm 26 my mom's would listen to this kinda music all day I know more old school than my own generations music blessed for it to this is REAL MUSIC
