I really like your style of reviewing, sir. Enthusiasm shines through clearly, we're still given facts and numbers, but in a laid back way - maybe it's just me, but I feel so catered to. "This guy clearly knows his stuff, but he doesn't try to sound clever - he's just a happy dude who gets to ride bikes, and he's someone I'd grab a beer with after a ride" - I really appreciate that. Thanks.

Well isn't that refreshing, someone saying something nice on RUclips. Thanks! But really, I appreciate the comment. I'm a very lucky guy who's been fortunate enough to ride all kinds of different motorcycles for a living. I don't take how lucky I am for granted and I hope what little knowledge I have about bikes comes through in these videos. Cheers!

I did the same. My old bike was a Ducati Monster 821 and the 790 was not enough. The 890R is perfect bike for me I think. Fast and agile, enough power, adjustable suspension and acceleration what I expect I haven't ridden it yet though. Could be wrong, but I don't think so.

I LOVE my 890 Duke R. In my fifty years of riding it is by far the finest machine I have ever thrown a leg over. It has connected me to my inner hooligan: Perfect brakes and torque everywhere, and the Akrapovic silencer I ordered when I purchased the machine looks and sounds great. Definitely not for touring but probably the best instrument ever devised for hooning around.

KTM have a history of bring out new engine sizes regularly. Eg. in a 10 year span they had 950,990,1190,1290,1050,1090 and that's not including all their other engines. They obviously have worked out a cost effective way of doing so, if it was easy then every manufacture would do it. I love it!...

Z900 not in the same league? It's heavier yes, but it has 125 hp 73 ft-lb (crankshaft figures, but after full tuning become wheel figures). Engine is also extremely smooth, very grunty. Chassis is very stable and confidence inspiring. It's easy to fling through the curves without fear (unlike MT-09). Suspension and brakes are the reason it's not expensive, like other Japanese offerings.

Nah 790 owners aren't pissed at the 890R ... sure it's a slightly better bike - but for a significant increase in cost ... and it still doesn't have fully adjustable forks (no preload) and doesn't come with the full electronics package as stock (have to pay a further £650 / $750 for the 'tech pack'). I'm very very happy with my 790 - brand new it cost me £3,000 less than an 890R with the tech pack included!! 😊

What is up with the hating on the 790? Sure this 890R is probably "the better bike" but you will have to pay extra for that! The 890 does not come with everything standard.
I just got a 790 coming from the 690 smcr. If anyone is thinking you HAVE to get the 890 to have a great bike you are wrong. The 790 does everything it needs to do very well. Sure, if you are going to be racing you'd go for the 890. People are complaining about the suspension of the 790 - Have you ever compared it to the MT09 suspension? It is MILES AHEAD of that. The suspension is rigid and keeps the weight on the road compared to the MT09.
The 790 does 200km/h easy - DO YOU NEED TO GO FASTER? GET THE 1290.
If I'm not getting the 1290 next year I will probably get the 890r - used. I will NOT pay all that extra cash for track mode or what ever.

This bike will be the middle weight bike, ... wait may be even be the motorcycle of the year. 2020 has been absolutely shitty in all aspects and the only silver lining the world got was Duke 890 R. Yes i know i am exaggerating here, but seriously guys. I bet my house that i dont even own on the fact that every reviewer or any one who rode this bike ( in twisties or track) will absolutely love this bike. Yes there is a big elephant in the room called orangReliability tsk tsk Take a leap of faith, take the risk... the rewards are just that good. come to the orange side..

Ktm isn't sell the HP to you, the greatest value of the KTM is Torque. Either for sport like rc8 and the naked series like 200, 390, 690, 790, 890. I remember when a senior rider once said, Torque never gets you bored. Then i agree.
Other than that, one thing i always noticed about ktm is the radical design unlike the others. Especially for the superduke. But the 890 is still good enough and unique, obviously. That parallel twin 270degree sounds as his big bro superduke in inline engine.
Also, the host. He explains his impression nicely. The pros and cons with no hard feeling. One thing sounds similar to me, that he is indonesian. i think.

KTM really needs to start making more RC models, especially an RC890 based on this bike. I mostly hate these KTM nakeds but this 890 looks a bit less like an insect. Still an RC version would be preferred, not sure why everyone is so in to nakeds when you can have the same riding position and suspension setup in a nicer looking fully faired version... Sport tourers are the ticket.
