    I think an easier way to explain it is that tracing is like the physical aspect of memo, whereas interpreting the memo is the mental aspect.

    Account for visits to all edges:
    Hold cube with only middle fingers and thumbs on the bottom of cube. Feet separated, Knees at +90 degrees.
    DB: touch toes of shoes together
    DF: touch heels
    DL: cross toes on left foot
    DR: cross toes on right foot
    LB: move left middle finger from corner to edge.
    LF: move left thumb to edge.
    RB: move right middle finger
    RF: move right thumb
    UL: place left index on left corner
    UR: place right index on corner
    UB: either remember or draw feet closer in towards body

    I recently learned to solve blindfolded and can speak 8 languages. So a great variety of words come up in my mind in many languages for every series of letters both for corners and edges.

    These two activities help with tracing and memorizing quickly:
    Memo corners/trace edges/solve corners
    And
    Trace corners/memo edges/solve edges/solve whatever visual I can remember for corners
    ^^helped me get sub 40 after averaging 55-1:00 the week before.

    I generally keep track of pieces by going through the layers in my head, so look at the top layer and look if every piece is in some way in my memo and and repeat for the two below. Sounds slow but after you get a feel for it at my stage it's really not worth working on

    Just did one trace test.
    12 sec trace.
    meanwhile: Memo = 0:45 (I think most of this comes from trying/struggling to visualise corners)
    On another note, I am at the stage where I intuitively know if there are untraced pieces left. I didn't memorise the formulas at the start of my blind journey because I found calculating it took unnecessary attention away from my 3BLD solve (also, I couldn't be stuffed :D).

  • @edwardrust3197
    @edwardrust3197 4 года назад +4

    I don't usually keep track of edges because it sort of blocks my field of view and distracts me by deciding which is the most optimal finger to use to put on each sticker lol....
    So I just seem to be able to memorise which edges I've done, also I usually count how many letters I've memorised, to help me figure out if I've possibly missed a cycle and if there's parity
    Corners are pretty straightforward since there aren't as many

    hi Jack, what is a typical prorgress curve/chart for your memotime? How long will it take to get down to 1-2 min in memorizing? maybe i am getting to old for that (41y). I am sruggling to get faster. I do letterpairs/speffz and M2/OP. My method is: each number has an image. For example: 1 is a tree, 2 is a computer, 3 is a farmer/animals, 4 is a vehicle and so on. Than I attache my 2Letter images to each position. I have a line in my head up to the number 30. It works quiet well for me. I have started 5 weeks ago with M2OP. When I want to be 100% sure to solve the cube correced, than I need more than 15 min. When I speed up, I can do it in maybe in less than 8 min and solve them 50% of the time correct. My 3x3 normal avarage is around 25sec/100 (Roux solver). My question is: When will it get more natural to memorize the cube? I have done maybe less than 100 blind solves so far. And by the way, great channel and best greetings from south Germany

    • @JackCaiCubing
      @JackCaiCubing  4 года назад +2

      Hi Erwin, of course the answer is that it depends on a lot of factors/how you define 'natural' but in terms of how you can improve your speed the most based off the info you've given me, lean towards those faster less accurate attempts (the accuracy should generally rise up over time although even 50% is fairly ordinary for blindsolvers though). Just to clarify, what does the "1 is a tree, 2 is a computer" etc. part refer to? (sounds like you're using those as locations for your letter pairs?).

    • @ERE02
      @ERE02 4 года назад +1

      @@JackCaiCubing Hello Jack. Thanks for the answer. I try to explain my "number system" for each letter pairs. I give u an example: CI LU BC AT aso... The CItrus Tree, My Computer has Linux Ubuntu, They have a Black Cow, I like Audi TT and so on. The problem is. with this method the letter pairs stick quite strong into my memory. So i have to use for each solve a different set of numbers. my first solve is 1-9, my second solve will be 10-19 and the third solve 20-30. And my letterpairs do vary from position to position. I know that makes it difficult. I do AT for example: (1 Tree) aple tree, (2 Computer) ATaria, (3 farmer/animals) (alte Tenne, its German for old shed) and so son.. I guess I have to stick to one image for each letter pair and put them into an excel sheet. It is hard for me to put an Audi TT to a tree... or the linux system runs on Audi TT... but i will give it a go. I would be very happy, to get my memotime down to 1-2 min.
      another question. Do you think your blindsolve helps you in normal live? Has your memory improved for all the other things? School, work, study? my big hope is, that blindsolving will help me with my study for machine engineering which i do here part time next to work. Greetings from south Germany, Erwin

    For big blind, I always use my list of letter pairs do help me to make images during the solve. What do you think about doing me this? I find it near impossible to do big blind without it.

    • @JackCaiCubing
      @JackCaiCubing  4 года назад +1

      That's totally cool as long as you practise using them in solves and to ensure that you're gradually improving the time it takes to recall the letter pairs.

      Hey, it's better that you don't start learning 3 style now, as many people recommend that you need to learn it only when you start avging around sub 1. Just sharing the information what I have got over time, but it completely comes down to your own choice. Hope this helps :)

    • @gabrielbarriosdeleon
      @gabrielbarriosdeleon 4 года назад +1

      You better improve memo first: 3-style will work better if your memo is pretty fast. Of course, nothing wrong with learning 3style right now, but you'll see better results with a better memo

    • @JackCaiCubing
      @JackCaiCubing  4 года назад +2

      There are varying opinions on this topic, and while I think some other fast blinders recommend switching as soon as you want to become serious with 3bld (like reach sub 30 and beyond), I personally think that moving down to around 1 min first then switching would be better (so that you have solid fundamentals in place for when you start doing 3-style solves)
