/ andrewreynoldshunting Hunting rabbits in UK. Ferreting rabbits using long nets and purse nets. Hunting with dogs. Hunting with lurchers. Controling rabbits on sheep farm.
In this ferreting video I team up with Brandon from Reynolds Rabbit Control and we spend half the day ferreting for rabbit.
Brandon brings along Duke the Lurcher who I haven't seen ferreting in a long while and we have a bag of purse nets. The plan was to carry on from when I was last out with Richard. Watch video. We try our best to catch as many rabbits as we can sell, it helps cover the cost of fuel and we hope to have a few spare for some recipes including another rabbit curry.
We start of well be struggle on the big warrens so we try finding small rabbit warrens and rely on Duke to catch any rabbits that miss the nets.
I was really surprised with Duke, I knew who was a good dog but he had such a soft grip of the rabbits he didn't mark them. This is great for when the butcher wants to sell them to the public.
But all the action comes to an end when on the last warren the ferrets decide to stay with a rabbit 6- 8ft below ground. After waiting we decided to dig which takes us an hour to retrieve the ferret.

at last a quality ferreting dog on a video, it makes me smile when i watch one of your video's now cos when you first started posting them a few years ago you were very enthusiastic but your lack of experience was easy to see but you have certainly improved, that is a cracking dog you have there, so much better with just one dog and not the packs you see on some video' s it amazes me a rabbit ever bolts freely, mind you i suppose you can do that when you know you will only have to dig a few inches

Cheers mate. They move fast and it's hard to keep up. Got more brilliant lamping vids other night. Had to dive on floor to get out of the lamp and continue filming. But cameras brilliant in filming in low light.

Knockerbox repairs has permanently closed. Jim chick died suddenly 5th August I just read on face book. There is sure to be another repairing them because there is such a demand for them old locators.

Thanks mate. A guy I know was ferreting last week and a Harris hawk stayed with them watching them whilst they were ferreting. We used to hunt with one as kids but never really caught much.

how much do you get each from the butchers ?
£3 skinned or £2 unskinned. I prefere skinning them. I can sell 40 a week like that and double that with skins on. Not doing it for money though but nice to cover fuel.

live rabbits . Cant catch enough . 100 to 200 a week . cant keep up with the demand. You couldent sell a dead rabbit in ireland , No 1 eats rabbit
