Thanks for a thorough tour Jack. Really appreciate that you do not just point out the pluses, you also point out areas where the boat could be improved. I'm always astonished when boat builders design helm areas that are not ideal, especially big yachts costing $millions. A helm needs adjustable seating so a helmsman of any size can easily reach the wheel and controls when standing or seated. Controls need to be grouped to be easy to reach. A lower helm with a view aft is highly desirable. It's not rocket science but so many boat builders fall short. Buying an Astandoa is a bit of a gamble since the company does not have a dealer network yet with service and warranty capability.
Beautiful Boat! I would also like to say, I do not know who does all your videography and editing, but it is always a pleasure to know whenever I come to this channel that I am going to be presented with an absolutely top notch and professionally orchestrated masterpiece of content and a pleasurable viewing experience. Good Job!
That’s a lovely comment, thank you. I’m lucky to work with a fantastic production team and it’s very rewarding to see their hard work recognised, it’s much appreciated - Jack
Yes - this is what separates YachtBuyer videos compared to other channels which say everything is amazing. Also, not a brokerage backed channel trying to sell to us.
Another brilliant tour, with your astute observations, thanks, Jack. The Astondoa As8 is a beautiful yacht, the wooden slat detail over the cockpit is unique and gorgeous. The lounge is another beautifully designed area, with contrasting woods, TV needs to disappear. Flybridge is another highpoint on the boat, the 'disappearing' displays, perfect! Now, if they can only recess the wheel & throttles? Can achieve a visually cleaner dashboard. The As8 helm is isolated, but if you intend to go from point A to B, or have crew, so you intend to sit at anchor for the views, at a secluded location is not that important. The accommodations below, are elegant... inviting
Great to see Astondoa being innovative again. They were ahead of the pack years ago and producing bigger yachts than their competitors back in the day. Superb presentation as usual YachtBuyer team - keep up the good work. 👏👏
This is correct, in the noughties that Nuvolari Lenard designed 72 GLX was a good seller. Actually in its time and size it out sold the Brits (Prin/Sun) by 2 to 1, and gave some of the Italians some worries for its competitive pricing.
Brilliant review as always Jack & team. Loved to yacht in most parts and really liked the decor. A 25m flybridge isn’t for me (budget or taste), but this is certainly impressive.
Great tour and fascinating brand 👍 Personally, i like the Cranchi Settantotto and Magellano 25M, but as i couldn't afford either, it's pretty academic lol 😊
When the notification said Astondoa is BACK! My first thought was it was going to be the 677 coupe sadly it was not hopefully Jack somewhere down the future maybe
A great review as ever , like the layout and if I had it as a crewed boat could put up with the unusual helm layouts , do like the colours used on this one , still think I would choose a Y80 or Y85 though, or crew myself and have the S72 for the ability to get to 40 knots if the need arose 😎
1:56 I love what they have done with the cockpit. I generally like the glass transom, but this is the first time I have seen a workable idea outside to bench seats to the side.
Thnak you for the tour! Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't Astondoa much more "daring" back in its heyday? This seems almost mundane, and yeah, you basically gave them a free consultation on how to improve this design.
You’re still the best in the business, Jack. I’d love to walk a marina with you and talk about the boats we come across. Every serious buyer should be watching this channel. This boat is beautiful but compromises in the galley and helms put me off. I imagine they are maximizing the owner’s enjoyment at the expense of the crew, which at this price makes some sense.
Another great review and I like and understand your, let's say, little complain and hints to change them. Both driving positions seems not really perfect if you want to drive your boat sometime by yourself. I do really love the colors and design of all furniture. Would I go for it? Not for an English or American boat, but more, even really different in all aspects, for me a sirena 78 with open flyl for the med. It's a complete different boat and it's just my own thinking.
Upcoming Pearl 82 will be similar size and similar money, but offers so much more. Tender and jetski garage, 5 en suite cabins, raised pilot house, hot tub on the flybridge. I know where my £5m would go.
That is a very nice yacht but I do not like the galley area or the helm station, definitely some scope for improvements like you say. An interesting yacht but I would go elsewhere. Nice tour Jack thank you.
It seems to me like a "FORCED" design. Certainly change the layout!!! Galley and the helm seem to be afterthoughts. Great tour Jack! Love your honesty.
I don't know which one I'd go for. I'd have to see who was willing to build a boat more for me. I"m 2 meters tall, I just don't fit on a lot of these boats. I"d talk to Astondoa to see what they had to say.
Those washer dryer combos are super expensive and a major pain in ass. They wash stuff ok but the drying is atrocious + the rubber seal deteriorates a lot faster.
You didn’t seem very enthusiastic in this presentation. Is it because the yard is not British? I think the boat looks outstanding even though some details are different than today’s standard
@@eva-scott what hasn't , but prices of yachts have been exponentially overkill. Compare this with a luxury house . Even for this boat i can buy a 8000M2 garden with villa / Poolhouse and a Mclaren 720 in the garage. Duh...and still have money left...
I cannot identify the „Wow-effect“ of this boat in general nor among other competitors on the market. Surely not a bad product and probably fulfilling a lot of expectations and dreams/imaginations of potential customers, but I cannot see anything kinda „grabbing me“. Therefore: Go for vacation for two weeks in a fine hotel with your family in Croatia or Spain if you have 5M€ left… and then (or maybe better -before- the beginning of the journey for better enjoyment) donate the difference („5M€ - two weeks of holiday“).
Astondoa needs to do much better for 5 million. While I say give the buyer what they want. I would pick a horizon fd as a live aboard over this and even if it's just a family and friends weekend party boat I would choose an azimet s8 over this.
Only 25 ft, wow they have designed a boat in which she spacious, nice decor, but everything you could want is there. Nice. Just a niggie, salon helm is too ," fixed" that needs looking at. Apart from that it's a great boat.

Great video Jack!!!
You are 100% correct with the reasons why one person would prefer this boat over other British brands.
Great tour and hopefully the designers will take your suggestions and make the yacht even better. ❤️🇬🇧
I really appreciate the honesty in your presentations :)
I appreciate that, thanks! - Jack

Congrats on the half million subs. Well deserved. Here’s to the next 500k 👍
Thanks Adam, appreciate it! - Jack

Great review.
I like it . . Nice finish . . Semi/enclosed fly for me would be good . .
Thanks Jack!
As always, great show! Looking good too bro!
Stylin' and profilin'...rock on.
😊
Gorgeous Yacht Captn Jack!! Very nice presentation. Love this one ❤❤ 😂😂😂😂
Thank you kindly! - J

Very interesting forward galley design. Not sure I'm sold on it yet but I do love the lounge area and its beautiful, matte wood.

Comprehensive as ever Jack interesting boat with some tweaking here and there would be very good
The new Vento V85 XONE is the vessel I would go for. To me it's beautiful
Thanks from İstanbul
Welcome!
@@Yachtbuyer Thanks
Love the design colour palette of this boat. But no opening port holes in cabins and helm position issues pointed out by Jack are an issue.
I kinda like the crew area on this one. I tend to pay attention as that’s how I’d get on one of these ATM lol
Upcoming Pearl 82 will be similar size and similar money, but offers so much more. Tender and jetski garage, 5 en suite cabins, raised pilot house, hot tub on the flybridge. I know where my £5m would go.
I do like it a lot. I would definitely have one but run it as owner operated
The backlighting is very cool. IDK if it's €5MM cool though.
✨✨👌🏻👌🏻

9:12 not mentioned but… looks like you have to dangle your feat if you sit on that helm bench. As it is, the bench doesn’t appear to be of much use.
Those washer dryer combos are super expensive and a major pain in ass. They wash stuff ok but the drying is atrocious + the rubber seal deteriorates a lot faster.
I gave up Euro Lotto... I d'ont want a boat like these when think on need 3-5 people as crew.. Yikes, it most feels cramped...
Very mice yacht with lot of value for the cost (that is ok, by the way)
You didn’t seem very enthusiastic in this presentation. Is it because the yard is not British?
I think the boat looks outstanding even though some details are different than today’s standard
Where a boat is made has no sway on my assessment of it. Thanks for watching 👍 - Jack
5 million 😮😂 I never understood the pricing of yachts....pfff
Prices for new yachts have all gone up about 30% since Covid
@@eva-scott what hasn't , but prices of yachts have been exponentially overkill. Compare this with a luxury house . Even for this boat i can buy a 8000M2 garden with villa / Poolhouse and a Mclaren 720 in the garage. Duh...and still have money left...

Don’t know why the „before“ is crossed out.
You won't see many around. 😂😂😂
I like the boat it has potential! however I really think it is kina bland, & boring for that amount of money.
Why did they design such a lame helm? Was it a case of form over function? Will you ever get to drive it?
Astondoa needs to do much better for 5 million. While I say give the buyer what they want. I would pick a horizon fd as a live aboard over this and even if it's just a family and friends weekend party boat I would choose an azimet s8 over this.
