Typically the only people who regret there tattoos are those who got them to fit in, look cool, impress others, or thought it made them more attractive. These are also the people who put the least amount of thought into the tattoo so they end up getting whatever random thing without considering the thing lasts forever.

I would say stop listening to society about what is important and cool. Your story is YOUR story. Why are you telling it to every stranger that sees you? Gold, for example, is valuable for a reason.
Society is full of trends (especially since the internet). Don't like trends and cliches create you.

I agree 100% I have the Lower back tribal tramp stamp from the early 2000s. I have a horrendous hand tattoo I got from a drug transaction. I paid in crack so you can imagine how that looks. 😂 there’s only one I’m not super regretful of but I wish I was totally bare. I got an elephant on my back when I hit 8 years clean.

You may** regret getting those tattoos.
With respect, just cause you do doesn't mean we all do/will. Personally, if I make it to a Grandma's age, some old ink on skin that already looks like crumpled laundry will be the least of my worries 😂
And you can avoid designs looking dated by not following trends 🤷

    • @kickinaddiction

I never said everyone will, I am generally speaking. There are always the outliers. I’d be willing to bet if you ask 100 people with tattoos that are 20 years or older if they could go back in time and not get it done. 90+% of them would opt to not have the ink. That’s the issue is 90% of tattoo’s are the trendy type. They get outdated just like the cupboards and carpets in our homes. It might not be the first few years, but 20+ years down the line MOST will regret what they have on their skin. I get what you mean though.

@@kickinaddiction I totally get what you're saying. I definitely regret some of mine (especially the DIY ones 🙈) but some are standing the test of time.
IMO, life's too short to play what-ifs 20+ years into the future for something so superficial.
Although I do think placements that might prevent/hinder employment opportunities should be VERY carefully considered.
Given you regret yours, are you tempted to get cover-ups or laser removal? Or just live with them?

    • @kickinaddiction
      @kickinaddiction  Год назад +3

Yea the placement stuff is huge! I have way to many to get them removed or covered. I have a longer video coming soon showing all my tatts. The tribal one is HUGE HUGE. The older the tattoo, the more I dislike it is how it’s gone for me so far for the most part. I loved them for the first few years but then I was like oh no what did I do! I just gotta live with them now.

@@kickinaddiction That's interesting, one of my favourites is one of my oldest.
I guess most people live with regrets of one kind or another; some people's are just more visible & if someone's going to judge you on a bad tattoo or one that hasn't aged well, they're probably too shallow to bother being around.
Looking forward to the longer video! Take care ☺️

Correction, tattoos are only trendy for people who follow trends and want the same thing as the next person, ex: trending shoes, shirts, jeans, hats, etc..
For those of us that are tatted from head to toe, I mean heavily tattooed, who also have their ears gauged and multiple piercings, we are lifers in this lifestyle, we are not the trend, we are the staple in this industry, everyone else are just copy cats and end up like yourself realizing you were in love with the trend and not the look.
Me, being heavily tattooed, I mean everything but neck and hands which in time will be covered too, I’ll never regret my tattoos , I love this look.
I do feel sorry for those as yourself who thought you were “us” or this lifestyle and got a tattoo.

Im in my mid 30’s so when I was younger, tattoos were becoming popularized and normalized but not so normal that everyone had full sleeves. Even though I had a Mohawk and was really into the punk subculture, I never wanted to destroy any opportunities that came my way just by my appearance. I grew out my Mohawk, removed facial piercings, but still colored my hair and did heavy makeup to keep my personal esthetic… and I had so many doors open for me and I made more money because of these changes. I am older and so glad I can look amazing in a dress without having to think about tattoos and I can change my aesthetic easily.

Watched lately a number of videos of people regretting theirs. The situation is the same, they changed. Having it wasn't what they thought it was. If it was, it didn't stay that way. Tattoos are clothes but permanent, takes real investment to change, alter, or remove. It sounds weird and crude to say, but you can never be "naked" again. There's a lot of vanity involved in getting a tattoo, in some way folks with them are concerned about their looks or appearance. For that reason there will be moments in life when that garment is just in the way. I'm not talking about jobs or things like that, but just how some people look at themselves. I don't have any tattoos so I hope what I say next translates. Depending on the tattoo, there's never going to be day when a plain tee is just a plain tee (I hope that made sense to someone). That piece of clothing will always be casual, and sometimes you may not want to be. If it can't be hidden, it can't be dressed up. Tattoos are cool but common. The coolest tattoo is still a tattoo. May mean something to whoever has it and more power to them but it's just another tattoo. I think them losing their edge also irks some people.

I was a douche bag before I woke the fuck up. Not in a lame I'm woke kind of way. I am a completely different person now. I personally wish I had none. I'm fucked.😆 Now I need a bunch of really good work to at least make it all tie together and look good.

@@kickinaddiction I am 30 now. I had no structure or discipline. No one to tell me how dumb I was being. A great mother just no Dad so I did whatever I wanted. Literally didn't think it through at all. Never thought about consequences. Yes laser removal hurts 10 times worse than the tattoo. It fucking sucks.

@@kickinaddiction Yeah man that is funny. Actually growing up and a few psychedelic experiences are really what shifted my perception on what was truly cool and important to me and what wasn't. Made a massive impact on my life. I guess just growing up alone probably does it too. Cool that we have similar stories. I am actually feeling totally fine. No wd. I have really really wanted to take just a little piece at times. Just feel that warmth and comfort. I am fine but I feel pretty sober it's different.. Just breaking that mental addiction takes time I am sure. Anyways,, I love your channel and support man. It is awesome to have. I forgot you are going through it yourself too.. You need support as well.. Your killing it dude. Keep grinding and fight them temptations.

The biggest con I see for me is that it covers up and hides muscularity, definition and separation between muscle groups. Fitness and bodybuilding and tattoos don't go together. That's why the vast majority of tattooed men I see either barely have any muscle mass, are chubby or are extremely skinny. They got the tattoos to have something to show off and to distract other from their physique as they have nothing to lose to begin with.

& to your last point, when your a grandma or grandpa, you’re already going to look like shit, why not be yourself and look the way that you want. Not everyone wants to look like an Un tattooed, non ripped jeans wearing sketchers that help you walk when you’re old. Some of us want to be tatted heavily wearing ripped jeans with vans when we’re old, probably smoking something nice too..
Also, to anyone’s point that tattoos affect your workplace or income, I mean over 225k a year in sales.. so do with that what you will.

15 years ago that tribal was badass. You’ll find out the hard way just like I did. ALL TATTOOS AGE! No matter the design no matter what it is or who did it they will all fade over time. You don’t get it now but in the future you will. What you like now will be 100% different in 20 years.

@@kickinaddictionwhat about traditional work that dates all the way back to the 20s? That’s what I’m covered in…. & that’s a timeless style. Don’t make your stupid choices other peoples problems. People like that are the worst kind of people. Do not tell me that my tattoos are going to go out of style because yours did. Trendy tattoos still exist & they will become outdated. People who get tattoos because it’s the latest trends are the ones who aren’t able to consider down the road….. & I’m sorry that you’re that person & have to wear tribal for the rest of your life.
