Wowza! Man, Seiko is really proud of these watches! I realize that they are a "luxury item" that no one really needs, and they don't twist anyone's arm to buy them, but at those prices, they may have to start!
Bought the 067 over a black bay. For me I like to buy watches that I don’t see others wearing. At 600 pieces worldwide I probably won’t see another one in person
An absolutely super review all round! My favourite case shape now with a lot more options to choose from, Interestingly enough I’ve just picked up the Seiko SPB213 at a great price, I’ve put it on a blue Tropic strap, it looks great.
Great review! Thanks. The gold dial 066 pops. It is very different for a Seiko diver. Think it would be the one I would buy. Maybe the blue dial a close second. I like the pattern of the dial. Stealthy black is cool.....maybe a bit boring? Think the SLA series of watches can outstanding, although pricing may be an issue. Some complain about the 8L movement. For what Seiko charges for the watches, they should regulate them. The extra labor would cost very little. All said, my 8L divers run at +2,+3,-5. Really can't complian.
Thank you for the excellent presentation. I prefer the blue dial but because I have an aversion to blue straps, I wish I could get the black one that comes with the SLA066.
I think these 3 watches will be almost the last 8L diver movements. I think all the high end divers going forward will use the 6L. It’s one of the reasons I picked up the SLA067 black
I really like the black with that crazy green lume. I'm still fighting the urge to get the speedtimer with that color (ssc917), since I already have one
I know Seiko stamps everything and you don't get *actually* applied markers until you get to GS divers, but it's still very disappointing that even at this price level, you're getting the little blobs of lume *on top* of the markers, just like a Turtle or Samurai has. That's new. The previous generation 6RMAS models (SPB053 range) those were stamped, but the stamps were outlined frames, and the inside of the frame was deep filled with lume. Those were $800ish watches. These are $3000 and you get lume like a Turtle. The price is very difficult to justify when Seiko is blatantly cost cutting like that. NO Swiss brand cheaps out on its markers like that (other than I guess the Breitling Super Ocean, but they've moved to applied deep filled markers on the new weird looking ones.) I'm a Seiko fan and own several, but mine are all the old style dials. I refuse to pay over $1,000 and get a dial that's no better than a watch that sells for $350. Look at the markers that a Formex Reef has for half the price. Multi-finished, beveled edges, and a slice cut into them for the lume to sit inside of. Seiko meanwhile stamps out a solid block, puts a frame on it, and then blobs some lume on top of the whole thing. For $3,000. Remember when Seikos used to be *better* values than Swiss watches? Not worse? Pepperidge Farm remembers.
Seiko living rent free in your head 😂 love these instead of bland boring copy and paste swiss divers. Applied markers are done on even a 100 dollar watch - it’s not a sign of quality.
Exactly how I feel about them, I do own a SPB143 which I really like and would love to buy a more premium one but those don't do it for me: proportions are not as good to my eyes and I don't like the dials
@@vincentschneuwly9783the case size is exactly the same as the spb143, they are a bit slimmer with better dial real estate, bigger hands, bigger markers and not to mention an actual watch maker grade movement rather then a piece of crap :(

I bought a Seiko samurai like that. All black with the turquoise markers. Stunning! Think there are other models also.

The SLA065 is such a weird release. Seiko usually makes killer dials, this astrolabe dial looks like something out of a department store watch.

Wouldn't consider any of them.i love the sla 62 mas and the spb line but these are strange and the dials are not my cup of tea.
