Just fyi, i put the Iridium IX on my honda civic. its a 1997 hatchback. Couldn't say there was performance, but the mileage def. went up. i used to get 450KM (280mi) a tank. after the install i easily get 500km+ (315mi). overall i am pleased, and they paid for themselves. NGK fo life.
Mike; Thanks for your reply. For what it's worth, in 1961 I was riding around in a 1955 Triumph Tiger Cub motorcycle. It had a 200cc, 4-stroke engine that ran just fine. However, I would have to put a new spark plug in it about every month. Champion, KLG, Lodge plugs, made no difference. One day a friend of mine showed me his Japanese motor scooter that some G.I. off the Army Base brought home. It had a NGK plug in it. I got interested and traded him a new spare Champion for it. When I got rid of the bike some months later, it still had that NGK in it. 'Nuff said!
Yes!! I picked the right plugs! I bought the Laser Iridium Premium for my V6 RAV4! Ha, I am the man..haha. I can already tell a difference ;-) 100,170 miles on factory plugs. Its smoother, quieter, peppier, and I thought it was before. Changed 3 of them last night and will do the other this weekend. Thanks NGK for great plugs.
more positive comments compared to negative I see here. Been supplying NGK in Tawau for almost one year, no complaint received. Best selling are the BP5ES & BP6ES. G power & Iridium sales also picking up.
I bought (saved) a car from someone who changed it from a running car, to a non-running car. Likely a bad injector, he thought he needed a "tune up". He said his friend changed the timing belt. Said he then replaced the rotor, plug wires and new plugs, and finally did a hack electrical job on half of the injector connectors. Went to look at it, first verified his crappy wiring was correct and going to the right injectors, amazingly they were. Then I pulled all the plugs to do a compression check, compression was fine on all cylinders. Apparently he thought buying Iridium plugs would solve all his problems. Instead they were fouled, one of the electrodes was burnt to a crisp. Paid him and towed it off. Obviously the timing is off a bit. Whether it's caused by the belt or distributor, I will find out eventually. Going to go straight to the belt and do it over again, because I'm definitely not impressed with this guy's work. I'm sure his friend isn't much better.
What is the "as manufactured" gap for the IX plugs? My factory suggested gap is 0.060 and, in another comment response, you say no more than a 0.012 adjustment should be made to them. Thanks! Very informative video, by the way.

John, sorry there is not currently a plug with the same dimensions as your C6HSA in a non-resistor iridium. CR6EIA-9 is all I have that's iridium in that size. Mike Becker, Senior Technical Instructor
I have always used NGK in my Honda motorcycles. I bought the Iridium as an upgrade. It would appear however that the weak magneto ignition might prefer no resistor. I also want to try plasma spark which apparently doesn't work with resistance. My SS50 plug is 10mm thread and 12.7mm reach. Heat range 6. Are there any non iridium in your range that are 'upgrade'? Or is the C6HSA the only available? Maybe copper core? Or is my plug already copper?
John, that's great to hear you've always used NGK's! Unfortunately not. That is the only plug in that size and heat range available without a resistor. The C6HSA is a copper cored plug. It will work for your bike, unfortunately, I don't have any upgrades for it :( Mike Becker, Senior Technical Instructor

Great question. The OE style plug for your vehicle is a Laser Iridium. NGK Laser Iridium contain a laser welded iridium tip and a platinum ground electrode. The Iridium IX plug has an Iridium tip and a tapered ground electrode. IX are considered a performance upgrade for quicker starts, acceleration and anti-fouling characteristics.
