The stepmother doesn’t seem like a bad woman. She just has been hurt too many times I think. Notice how Cinderella doesn’t say “if you only saw how awful she is” she said “if you could only see how she changed” which makes a ton of difference. She probably did treat Cinderella with kindness, maybe not as much love as her own daughters bc nobody is perfect, but she loved. That love “fell out with” her and now she sees that same love in Cinderella’s eyes. Imagine the pain of that. For her, it’s easier to cast that sentiment out with the trash. Sadly, she thinks who better to take it out than the one who put it there? You can hear the struggle in Bernadette Peters’ voice, and this is what made me love her. This made my night lovely.
The way she treats Cinderella, she's a bad woman. It's one thing to be scorned by love, but to be cruel to a kid because you know they have no one else...that's trash.
I had the same thoughts. When Cinderella's father died, she lost the concept of love. Cinderella reminds her of him so it hurts to even look at her. Because she's there and he isn't. However, that doesn't mean she's a good person anymore.
One thing I learned about Disney villains is that they didn't start out as villains. Each so-called Disney villain has their own story before the story of the hero In this case Cinderella. One thing I took area at a lesson from a actress named Lena parrilla who starred in ABC's once upon a Time. She started as Regina Mills who also lived unhappily she found true love with the stables boy Daniel. But Regina's mother wanted something else for her that she didn't want for herself. Eventually after Regina met Snow White which that was set up by her mother obviously. Then eventually Snow White stumbled over Regina's secret romance with Daniel. Despite the fact that her mother said yes for her daughter after Snow White's father proposed to Regina. Even though Regina did not love Snow White's father Regina loved someone else. Regina asked Snow White the promise not to reveal Daniel to her mother. And of course Snow White never did reveal Daniel But it was automatically assumed that he did With lead to Regina's mother killing Daniel by ripping out his heart in her hand and crossing it to sand in front of her. Forcing her daughter into a unhappy marriage Just so Regina could become Queen. Eventually she learned the art of dark magic and the more Regina used it the more it influenced her to do evil actions. So she was labeled the "evil" queen it's already Tremaine is no different. Evil isn't born it's made
@@karolyndowns2973exactly. it’s basic strategy of taking your anger/hurt on someone who had nothing to do with it. I appreciate the stepmother’s role in cinderella’s no matter who portrays it because the lesson & teaching is to identify a rotten soul who’s endgame is to break your spirit & they see a light inside you that they once had but they let the world & their circumstances corrupt them & now they want to project that pain/hurt upon you but I definitely agree with you
Thats how the Stepsisters are suppose to be portrayed. Obnoxious Vocals, Loud, Annoying, Lack of elegance, grace and poise. While Cinderella is quiet, pretty, Elegant, Watch some of the clips, Then you will understand why the vocals are how they are.

Technically that’s how the stepmother is when the father dies in all the stories. She always changed.

I would pay a million dollars for a regime of marines to suddenly burst into singing this as a prank on their commanding officer 😆.

This is one of my favourite songs from the musical. Thanks for posting!
April 24, 2010. A lovely night.
U should sell Cinderella with brandy I would love 2 download it on my tablet
that would be illegal :D
Song starts at 1:28, like on the other vids, noting for myself and others who listen to this way to often XD
🌟
Does anyone know where I can find the lyrics for the first part of the song(up until A Lovely Night)?
Brandy we both sing together that's Love song and I Love you I want you in my life dream okay
2:45
I think this song could have been better, I just wish the other singers other than brandy weren't so obnoxious sounding
