Here’s the rub. All the things you’re telling about in here are not about her game. You keep emphasizing viewership. We all know how many more viewers she brings in. But every single time this issue is discussed, you and those who think like you, use viewership like a weapon to silence every other person associated with the W. Then when we tell you this, y’all always come back later with I didn’t say that. Yes you did. Because the conversation was about should she be in USA basketball and y’all said yes because of viewership. Then when we answer that with USA basketball picks players who will win not to win viewers. It’s not their job to grow the women’s game or the W in particular!!! Rather than accept that, you then move the goalpost and say just what Shannon said, well she played better than Diana Taurasi as if he cannot fathom the need to have a 5 time veteran player who could still get you 10/05/05 at least and who offers what no rookie can: maturity and leadership and winning experience. Have you ever asked yourself Charles why Shannon keeps harping on Diana Taurasi? Whenever he has discussed this issue, that’s the player he keeps bringing up as if he forgot he was a pro athlete and therefore should know the importance of having a vet on a team and that sometimes it’s just as important or more than a popular or younger player who may score a little more. They had scorer! They did not need CC to win. That’s just it. It wasn’t about anything that you folks are trying to make it about. Also
Also like Audrey’s Carter said you can’t judge what happened going into the Olympics by her winning ROY at the end of the season! Why? Because she was not performing as a definite All WNBA or ROY at that time.
Here’s how I know I’m right and neither SAS or Shannon will say anything about this. ESPN, their OWN NETWORK, had Angel Reese leading Caitlin Clark in the ROY race at that time just before the Olympics. Forgot about that????? It’s about WINNING and not views!!! Get over it!
And guess what? I’m sure Caitlin isn’t even losing any sleep over it. Ya know why? Because she was tired as hell, she used that break to recharge and practice with her teammates and get better and after she came back to the season, what did she do? She kicked ass!!!!! It was better for HER that she didn’t go. But nooooo. You dudes want to be right so bad that you can’t get a grip.
Lastly, what you, SAS, and Shannon are also getting wrong is saying that the rest of the players “won’t give or don’t want to give CC credit for the uptick and the good things they’re getting and aren’t riding the wave. That’s bull. They played their game!!! Only a few players even spoke on her so how can y’all say that “they” aren’t giving her props? SAS wants to say now that all he said was SOME players. Nope. Not gonna let that slide either. He did NOT always say some. He consistently has said a blanket “everybody” and “nobody” and “they” just like Shannon did in this clip. What did that do? Create the narrative that they’re jealous and that’s a huge lie. I am an avid basketball watcher. I watch all levels, men and women. I even watch high school. I also rep Big Ten and I am a huge CC fan. But in no way was I sitting up here watching this season telling these women that they should lighten up on her so she can waltz to the basket. They did what they were supposed to do, give her her welcome to the w moments just like any other rookie. All this other crap y’all putting into it isn’t even true. And guess what? CC agrees with me. That’s what is so funny. She has said quite a few times in answer to questions about others in essence that no she isn’t targeted, it was playing hard and a hard play, period. And y’all running around here acting like women yourselves, gossiping and putting women against a young woman while they’re actually cool with her. I bet you didn’t know how many times Angel and CC have hung out this season, just them, or talked on FaceTime, do you? They’re friends! And guess what? She is also cool with a couple veteran players on the Dream and the Lynx.
Y’all are dead wrong on this issue, and no matter how fast or loud you talk, no matter how many times you don’t actually have a woman who follows the game to join you on your show to calmly discuss it, you can’t change that fact.
I still love ya and love this podcast! Keep up the great work you and Marco are doing. You motivate me to continue to do better. 😊

ma’am, nobody watched the WNBA, went to the games, or cared about the WNBA whatsoever before Caitlin got there. She also has the record for most points in a college career of all time. so to act like she can’t play is ridiculous for starters. secondly, what did Diana do in the Olympics?? literally as much as you and I did, absolutely nothing. that’s why France was finna beat them if that girl didn’t step on the line. furthermore, viewership matters for pay. WNBA players have been whining for years about being underpaid, flying commercial, bad buses etc. they flying private now, why?? because of Caitlin Clark. THAT is why viewership and merchandising and tv deals matter. now the women will be able to earn more, which is a positive for everybody. lastly, she made 1st team all WNBA as a rookie, unanimous ROY, and broke countless records in her first season. for anybody to act like her on the floor performance is substandard is asinine. A‘ja Wilson, Napheesa Collier, and Stewie were the only players better than her all season. maybe throw Arike in there because that woman can flat out freaking score. she’s something else too. but basically Caitlin was a top 5 player in the league as a rookie so to deny the on court accolades, coupled with the superior to everybody that’s ever played box office pull is to be delusional. which Andrea, Monica McNutt, Molly, Swoopes, that Minnesota head coach and a bunch of other women were. Delusion doesn’t make your point valid, it makes you look foolish. Caitlin is head and shoulders the best thing that’s ever happened to the WNBA and it’s not close. I love A‘ja Wilson‘s game and I’m from Miami and a Heat fan so you know I’m rocking with Bam‘s girlfriend. I’ve never watched an Aces game in my life before this year. Caitlin Clark is the WNBA and the sooner women realize that, the sooner yall can get out of your own way and reap the benefits she’s bringing

You cannot claim you've been watching and also claim this, "Because she was not performing as a definite All WNBA or ROY at that time." She absolutely WAS.

@@miamimercenary9623 woo I guess you told me, huh? Not.
You wrote all of that and basically proved my point from the beginning. I wrote all that, explained thoroughly, and you are STILL saying I’m saying something negative about Caitlin Clark I didn’t even say! I haven’t seen anything like this before. What is wrong with you people? Has your fandom got you unable to read with understanding anymore? But you said all that so here’s my response.
You said nobody watched the WNBA before Caitlin. To be literal, not true. The W had a growing fanbase. If “nobody” watched, it wouldn’t have grown at all. So to say “nobody” watched is inflammatory. Using that line over and over every time her name is mentioned is what started the controversy and you people caused it.
Furthermore, what did I say in the 3rd line of my comment? Did you just skip over that, because I CLEARLY said “we all know how many more viewers she brings in.” You starting off your disagreement with that gives the impression I don’t acknowledge that! That’s another thing that is ridiculous. Y’all act like every single time she is talked about we have to say “she is the reason more people are watching” as if you need a reminder. But would it even matter, because I just said it in a little old RUclips comment and you didn’t even acknowledge it. Nothing is ever good enough for y’all.
You then talk about her college record. Okay. What does that have to do with being on Team USA? Nothing. Why not? Because over the last 2 years Team USA players have been playing together. They had a chemistry developed while she was still in college. These ladies aren’t bums, including Diana Taurasi.
How did I act like Caitlin Clark can’t play????? Where did I say or act like that?????? Nowhere! You are drawing conclusions that I don’t even feel!!!!! The delusion is crazy to me. The girl is a beast. Nothing you can tell me about her game. I have followed her extensively the last 2 and a half years. But at the time they selected the final team, she was having a few struggles with her game. You don’t want to acknowledge that and I understand that. You feel she is perfect and has never made any mistakes. But that simply isn’t true. Don’t believe me? Google it. Google her stats and headlines during May and June since it seems you’ve forgotten. She was not a shoe in for ROY at that time or All NBA at that time. Now did I say she can’t play? No!
Back to Diana. Now I know you people don’t like her because of her “there’s levels to this” comment so forever you’re gonna downgrade her no matter what you may have felt about her before. But just like you’re saying to me not to “act like she can’t play,” I’m saying it back to you. You’re being a hypocrite. Diana was NOT the reason France was about to beat them. First of all, they weren’t, not with our coaching staff who I knew would figure it out. They made the right adjustments and played their game which included Diana. Also, veteran presence on a team with young stars is crucial in team dynamics. The coaching staff and USA Basketball even explained this. But no. You people don’t want to hear it because your beloved Caitlin was not on the team. You dismiss good sound reasoning that is used in building teams in both of our basketball leagues just to fit what you want. Nah. No bueno.
Then you move into the women “whining” about their pay, diminishing them again, and move into viewership and money as if I’m stupid and don’t know viewership brings more money and opportunity. Duh. Again, you proved my statement you “use viewership as a weapon to knock every person associated with the W not named Caitlin Clark.” You dismiss everything I said extensively explaining what USA basketball’s duty is and who is responsible for growing the W. It isn’t USAWBB that’s for sure. So why you people KEEP on harping about viewership and growing the game as the reason she should have been on the team????? It makes NO sense. None whatsoever. Being on that team is not a rite of passage just because she brought in viewers. It’s this expectation for the W and USABB to change the process and expectations for her that is the issue. She doesn’t get to have the players just play soft so she can score more points and never get touched because she brings in viewers and tickets. She doesn’t get to never have a foul called on her even when she does foul just because she brings in viewers and tickets. Yet that is what you people called for. Ridiculous. If you want her to get preferential treatment then you obviously don’t care about the game or the integrity of it. This ain’t The Truman Show. It’s the WNBA.
You sitting here going on about why viewership and merchandising and TV deals matter as if I don’t know that. We ALL know this. But the part you fail to accept is thise things are not important to the USAWBB team. The Olympics doesn’t need all of that and again, it is NOT THEIR JOB TO GROW THIS GAME!!! Why should they make it easier for the NBA and WNBA to do what they’re supposed to be doing??? You keep conflating two entities.
You then repeated your nonsense line “to act like her on the floor performance is substandard is asinine” because no one said that. Then you kept on into again she was ROY and broke records when she hadn’t done this when the team was selected!!!!! Why can’t you see this????? You are asinine to keep using her ROY and records as reasons when she hadn’t even earned those yet before the team was decided!!!!!!! You cannot refute that. I didn’t say the girl is substandard. I didn’t say she can’t play. But for some reason in your brain that’s what you keep misinterpreting.
Also, neither Audrey’s Carter, Monica McNutt, Molly Qerim, Sheryl Swoopes, nor Cheryl Reeves denied her on court performances or her box office appeal! WTH are you talking about? Especially Monica McNutt who appears on many shows besides ESPN First Take where she talks WNBA. She is ALWAYS fair and balanced. She said CC is the ROY before she won. She did segments on the differences in her game pre-Olympic break vs. afterwards. It’s clear you don’t watch or you definitely would t have put her on your target list. No one is delusional here but people like you saying all this nonsense we DID NOT even think or say, and to hold the USAWBB team accountable for doing something they aren’t even responsible for!!
Lastly I’m going to say this. One line you people LOVE to use is “Caitlin Clark is the WNBA and the sooner women realize that, the sooner y’all can get out of your own way and reap the benefits she’s bringing.” First, Caitlin Clark is not THE WNBA. You new fans don’t dictate that. You’re reading her affect wrong. You know how you said you never watched an Aces game before CC? That’s the rising tide lifting all boats. So not only is it her, she has improved the profile of all the superstars of the game. Their jersey sales don’t have to be the #1 selling jersey for this to be true. The majority of you people you say CC has brought to “the game” are not really here for “the game.” They have used this phenomenon that is Caitlin Clark and the controversy surrounding her as a symbol for racism, sexism and homophobia. That’s why most of you are so emotional that you don’t even hear us regular non-cultish fans when we even compliment her, or you don’t think we say it enough for you. It’s exhausting and it has tarnished the game.
The bottom line is Caitlin Clark is the future of the WNBA. She won ROY as I predicted she would way back in June despite some issues she was having. She has very little flaws in her game. But as I can see, she works hard and no doubt will resolve those things. I see multiple MVPs in her future and I see her carrying this league to new heights for sure. You see how easy it was for me to compliment her alone without downgrading any other players or the league as a whole? Try that. I bet you can’t do it because you certainly haven’t here.

@@DomTullipso she was not performing at that level during the time they picked the team. That is a fact not opinion. You have selective memory. Regardless she wasn’t selected for more reasons than just her play but you just won’t acknowledge that. Sad.
