  • Have you heard of Cologne, Germany? Or maybe you've seen Köln written like this. Same city but Köln is in German and Cologne is more standard in English. Many people know Berlin, Munich, and possibly Hamburg but what about Cologne? It's one of the largest cities in Germany and a great place to consider living. Josh and Kalie from ExpatsEverywhere break down Cologne in this city guide. There's a mix of old and new and you have the option of living around either. The city is big and has a lot to offer. With things like the Rhine River, Carnival, beer, and more, consider Cologne for moving to, living in, and working in.

The video sequences from 4:20 about Altstadt and Neustadt; are they really from Cologne? I'm from there but can't recognize the street/areal view! Nice video though :)

You're right. It's Linz and Vienna (both Austria).

I enjoyed cycling when I visited there. I think it’s the best way to discover & move around the city (of course if you know how to bike). But it’s basically a bike-friendly city.
I visited there to attend a design fair at Koelnmesse. Amazing event. Impressive! It was also during the weekend of Halloween. So there were many Halloween-themed parties in the bars during that time. It’s not my favorite German city because for me, that title belongs to Munich, but Cologne is still worth a visit especially if you are attending a major event just like what I did..
The Cologne Cathedral is definitely the symbol of the city. But I think it’s the oldest & scariest looking cathedral that I’ve seen! 😅

I am heading to cologne in few days time to see all the xmas markets. However I still could not find whether I can use contactless payments when using the public transportations? Airbnb i am staying isnt in central of cologne so therefore most likely be using bus / tram frequently so I do need to know if i can just tap my credit card in order to pay the ticket? Pls advise when it comes to how to buy ticket and get around the city using public transportation. Thanks

Wow. The utilities are fascinatingly high….I don’t recall, is that about the same for Portugal?
    What about solar?
I forgot what you told me about solar energy use there.

Utilities in Portugal aren't too high depending on where you are and what your usage is life of course. A lot of people we talk to that live in 100 m2 or less don't pay nearly as much as they did in their hometowns. Solar is growing in popularity it seems in the countryside but it's still not super common. - Josh

Hello, I am Jayrajsinh Jadeja from India.
I got an admission in Fachhochschule des Mittlstands-(FHM Frechen) for my further studies.
I am planning to move Cologne on 15th of June 2023. Looking for accommodation for 2 or 3 students.
We would like to find a comfortable and affordable place to stay that is in Cologne and close proximity to Frechen. We would prefer a furnished apartment or a room in a shared apartment with other students.
Any potential leads or sources will help greatly...
    Please guide me...

Not the tallest cathedral in the world...that would be the Ulm Münster. You're welcome.

    • @expatseverywhereexplores
      @expatseverywhereexplores  Год назад

I guess this a semantical point but Ulm Munster church is of the Protestant Christian faith and Cologne's is a cathedral which denotes it's of the Catholic Christian faith.

As for me, no. Cologne is just too dirty and chaotic in the center.
