- Omar tells Ahmed that Ridge is marrying another woman and urges him to talk Taylor into staying with him. Ahmed pleads with Omar to call Moustafa and have him stop the wedding. Taylor remembers her marriage to Ridge and becomes even more determined to return to him. The minister reads the vows to Ridge and Brooke.

I've watched these scenes many times over the years and it never occurred to me until fairly recently how very fitting it is for Ridge and Brooke to have their wedding on the beach in a sand castle rather than having a traditional church wedding, since their marriage will, metaphorically, be "built on sand" (because Taylor is alive and the marriage between Ridge and Brooke is not legally valid). It's quite a clever touch - especially since the immediate impression is that it is an extravagant and romantic fairy tale wedding with breathtaking scenery, until you take that symbolic aspect into account and you realize that the wedding actually _is_ a "fairy tale wedding" in the sense that it is _not real._
It's perfect symbolism! Trish clocked this in the previous episode too.

Interesting that Taylor's wedding was a traditional one! If I'm not mistaken, Ridge can't marry anyone else in a church.
Caroline's wedding would've been more character-fitting inside a traditional church.
Though I appreciate your take on the metaphorical aspect of the Sand castle, I doubt the head writer is capable of thinking up such clever symbolism for his characters and storylines. However, his father was still a consultant on the show, so perhaps it was his clever touch!

I saw some of the scenes where Taylor reveals to Brooke that she's alive, the look on Brooke's face was indeed priceless 😂😂. She was shaken to the core.
As anyone would if someone comes back from the dead. Remember how Ridge almost fell down when he saw Karen and thought Caroline was back from the dead.

@@marypeter5161 it was definitely more than just shock at seeing Taylor back from the grave. Once that initial shock quickly wore off, it turned into anger as she realised her fairytale sandcastle was beginning to fall apart...
The fairytale only lasts as long as there isn't any other real threat /competition (which is exactly how she saw Taylor, no matter how brave Brooke seemed to be).

Say what you want about this show, but they do location shoots better than any other daytime soap...or at least they used to. Nowadays sandcastle weddings with horses are a thing of the distant past. Brooke and Ridge will have their 900th wedding in Eric's living room, and it will be even less memorable than the 899th wedding 😂
LOVE their location shoots. Lake Como, St. Thomas and Venice were among my favourites.

Probably it was one of the most viewed episode in the B&B history but not only for Brooke's big sandy wedding. Taylor was a key element too, giving the fact viwers waited to see if Taylor's news would crash the ceremony.

It's funny how Brooke goes all out for this wedding (and it IS very romantic) and yet the whole time we know Taylor is alive and thus this wedding is invalid. It's like the scenes in Morocco are undermining the scenes at the beach. It confirms what posters like Nick, Annie and Trish have been saying about Brooke living in a romantic fantasy of her own making.
And in Morocco we have Omar doing the same thing as Brooke, just non a crazier scale

❤❤❤ Brooke has delusions of grandeur! The sand castle wedding reflects this. She does not have the realistic foundation she needs to build a life based in reality and truth with any man.
The Writers highlight her physical strength and sexual prowess by putting her on a horse which symbolizes power as well as masculine strength.
Brooke's delusion doubles as a diabolical demented disgusting fantasy while the audience is forced to acknowledge the aesthetics in the backdrop.
The bridegroom escapes reality through the medium of a prayer!
The bride escapes reality by anchoring herself on the horse ( the male part of herself ).
The Writers allow the audience to feel the simplicity and conflicted thought patterns that the poor often feel. This is expressed firstly by the knotted tangled hairstyle Brooke chooses, and secondly by the horse who drops Brooke off for her father. In those moments one can feel the conflicted emotional anguish of a poor valley girl anchored - riding to her delusion of grandeur destiny.
Omar has the same issue in this instance as Brooke.
The Writer compares and contrasts the beaches where both Brooke and Omar are close to currently. They show the elite having similar issues to the poorer class. Despite all the wealth Omar has he has deluded himself into thinking he is being helpful to Taylor when he has kidnapped her in reality.

I don't believe they get re married for years to come after they realise this one is invalid. Brooke even marries someone else in that time (to teach Ridge a lesson which pretty much ends up backfiring on her lol). I don't think I've ever seen anyone so desperate as Brooke to get someone to marry her, that she threatens to marry someone else if Ridge doesn't lolol.

Whether you like Brooke and/or Ridge, it’s hard to not admit this is a beautiful wedding. It is certainly one of the most beautiful ones ever on TV, in my humble opinion.

I remember the shows ratings skyrocketed during these wedding episodes. Not only did fans finally get to see Brooke marry her most beloved man for the first time after 7 and a half years, and the show’s production went all out for the wedding scenes on the beach, but also because Taylor found out who she really was, and fans thought for sure that the wedding would get interrupted by Taylor somehow being revealed to be alive. Fans were on the edge of their sets during these episodes. I believed the show achieved one of its highest ratings ever up to this point.
Eric might be reminded of his honeymoon, when he and his young bride rode after their balloon flight.
14:22. Some fan commented that Eric is sad, but I guess it is really subjective because IMO he looks rather happy for someone who has lost his wife and marriage to his son - and has to watch them getting married today.
The advantages of amnesia - suddenly *all* comes back to Taylor - but just all *happy* moments with Ridge, no *sad* memories (lab boink, paternity test, her husband acting like a prostitue (her words to Ridge), crying in Europe, ending up at the cabin because her husband chose the company over her threat....).
Is there such a thing as selective amnesia lolol..
Anyway, despite all that she loved him still...

This wedding was a ratings Bonanza for Bold and Beautiful, helping to move them from third to the second most-watched Soap Opera (back when there were still eight or nine soap operas). So they dragged it out for as long as they could.

Maybe it is because I am not a jewelry person, but I would have already taken off these earrings and necklace that Omar has pushed onto "Layla". The episode before Taylor has told Omar that she does NOT want to be his _princess_ , so maybe make that even more clear by rejecting all that princess stuff (Omar's attempt to turn her into his princess bride). Taylor now remembers her husband, so another reason to take off the jewelry another man has handed to her.

I thought Eric looked happy enough when he checked out wife number 1 who he paid half of what always really had only belonged to her (taking half of the company as _his_ own payment from their marriage), then maybe looking for wife number 2 who got half of the company because of his own carelessness and avoided looking at wife number 3, when he had just successfully avoided to lose even more money if that wife ever got with a child too.

And so it begins, the only period where Bridge was ever rootable or tolerable. This was certainly their time to shine, and after 7 long years of being Shows beat down girl it is nice to see Brooke at the top, successfully running Forrester, and happy and content in her personal life. Lord knows her commitment, loyalty, and devotion to Ridge have earned her that much. But alas, we only get this golden time for a short while, as Taylor will return with her demands, expecting life to simply revert to what it had been, completely ignoring and overlooking Ridge’s marriage and his commitment to Rick and Bridget. That is not to say Brooke ever really respected Taylor and Ridge’s marriage, but she did come to except it, and was prepared to move on with James. So, I can’t entirely fault Taylor’s behavior when she returns, but what is so infuriating is her complete disregard for what Brooke and Ridge had built, and her highhanded belief that because she has returned to Bell LA, that Brooke should just divorce Ridge and “give him back to her.” After this first marriage, any and all versions of Bridge are redundant, and cartoonist, sloppy caricatures of this one space in time.
It's not just like that. Taylor stayed away for Ridge's and Bridget's sake as he had a family with Brooke. But it was too much for her. Once she returned she made clear that the legal marriage was hers not Brooke's one. Then Ridge would ask for divorce, as he did, and she accepted it without manipulations.
@@babs4848 To the contrary, Taylor returns to LA and disguises herself as a nurse to get close to Ridge after his accident. Eventually she reveals herself to Brooke and makes her intentions clear. The legality of Brooke and Ridge's marriage is not the issue here; it is Taylor's belief that since she has returned, that Ridge should just walk away from the life he has built. Even after their union is dissolved, Ridge chooses to stay with Brooke, and Taylor is not gracious about it. The episode is coming when Ridge tells Taylor he has chosen to stay with Brooke, and she is angry and disbelieving, and makes it clear that she has no respect for Ridge's relationship with Brooke. Yeah, she eventually excepts it, but has to leave town to deal with it.
@@cammybad1839 What can I say. You'll be watching ( without skipping) yourself how things happened. If you talk about the time thay spent in the court to make clear who's marriage was legal, well, Taylor had all the rights to want Ridge back knowing how much they loved each other.
@@cammybad1839 Taylor asking Ridge to stay with her is lack of respect to Brooke? Brooke did and will do so many mean deeds to break up Tridge! We can say that Ridge loves them both, but about the respect the ladies had for each other is a lost battle fro Brooke for sure.

The amount of over analysis of the wedding and the planning and princess (shes fake btw no matter what) the almost copy paste comment about the symbolism of this and that are such an overkill. KKL rides horses the idea came from this plus this was a major grand weeding for soaps back then. It felt less stuffy than so many other weddings. The fact he buys her a house was really nice and a first for him.
If you are referring to my post, I don't mean the sand symbolism comment as criticism of any character or actor - on the contrary (and Trish and I happened to make this observation independently of each other so nobody copied anybody). For me, it's just another layer of storytelling that I appreciate and it's actually a _quality_ that adds a dimension to both the storyline and the characters. I have no horse in this race (sorry about the bad pun!) and I am not a fan of Brooke or Taylor. I just like them to be layered and differentiated characters with their own distinctive personalities.
What happened to "We dnt mind bec unlike some we understand its a soap" whatever "we" means. Some people actually care for storytelling and archetypes

Ridge and Taylor's wedding was so much better because the love was real. Brooke has always gone after someone else's man. Thinking that she is all that. She is nothing but a homewrecker.
