@@DanielleBaylorYou may have to change up your process. Try CurlSmith (its pricy though) or Design Essentials. Separate your hair into sections and run hot water to steam it first, then wash it and condition it section by section. While in the shower put in your leave-in conditioner then put a cap on your head. Then with your hair sectioned, spray with water then add your curl custard or curl cream then add xtreme wetline gel to your hair and then oil to seal it. If this doesn't work try switching the methods around maybe you'll need to do the LOC method ( leave in, oil, cream). I have low porosity hair that hates coconut oil or creamy products like shea mositure, cantu, or Carol's daughters. I use products with avocado oil. I really hope this helps. Don't give up.
She’s an actor; she has to be able to change her look all the time for different roles and auditions. She’s also probably extremely busy for the same reason. A few Black women with 4b/4C hair have been able to land big roles with their natural hair properly styled (Teyonah Parris and Lupita N’yongo are the only ones who come to mind, though). But for most kinky-haired Black women actors and entertainers, the easiest solutions are wigs, straight or natural styled (Janelle Monae, Keke Palmer) or chemical treatments.
After being in the industry 15yrs, a couple of things need to be considered and discussed. 1. Yes, you can spend your money anyway you choose. So, I will never tell anyone how to spend the money they worked for. It is your choice, but keep that same energy if anything goes wrong. 2. You can no longer claim to be natural once chemicals have been introduced into the hair. Anything the changes the bonds of the hair is considered a chemical, so you are no longer a natural. 3. You have to pick a struggle! You go natural but don't want to deal with natural hair issues. You put chemicals in it, and then you say you should have stayed natural because the chemicals broke your hair off. Just make a choice and stick with it, this is why we have so many issues with our hair in our community, because we do too much! We want to try everything that comes out and complain about it later. 4. No matter what it is, DO YOUR RESEARCH!!! ask yourself will I want color later? How long will I have to continue getting this system? Is it a complete system where I have products that support my results? How does it work with medications you may be on? Etc... 5. Test the knowledge of the professional no matter the service and precept their response to make sure you will be satisfied with what your paying for. The gift of gab is real!!! A duck will do what it was formed to do and so will a theif and liar. You can not take methods that where already being practiced and merge them together and say, "Look guys I have created something totally new that has never been seen before and now watch the magic" a colonizer will be and do what they were formed to do! 6. Tell a person once, then tell them again. After that, let them be. There will be some who listen and some who don't. Put the info out there and keep it moving. There is no reason to get upset or argue over others decisions. I wish you all the Best on your hair journey, Love yourself and your hair because noone else will!!!
I liked your approached and in looking at #5 though actually if you are taking 2already existing products and merging them then you have created something new. For example H2O- water separate not.

Your perm turned out gorgeous 💯but I think you look lovely with or without hair because you have natural beauty. One thing about your perm is the uniformity of the curls. Your hair seems to all curl the same and this makes perming so much easier with better results. Have to admit I am a little envious because my perms do not turn out as good. The same way it is with hair dyes, go and get touch ups on your roots. Edit: Also all she has to do is add protein back in her hair to get her original curls back. That’s why she can do very little to it otherwise they will revert back.
Will you do an updated video with how you are caring for you hair? a FAQ? A wash day routine? & some super cute hair styles? Pros and Cons of the gina curl? maybe some extreme before and after photos?

Thought it would help for easier hair maintenance but ended up with a big chop and starting over. If it’s working for her that’s amazing. But ladies as you come across other folks that do the Gina curl you will not hear about constant up dates to the process after maybe 2 years. As a black woman let’s not let these folks play with your hair. I took a chance and my choice was horrible. On a good note, I’m embracing the short hair cut and excited for the new hair journey.

Do what you want with your hair, however Gina/ Jerry curls are NOT natural. You just have a curly perm vs a straight one. Your hair is STILL being chemically changed and damaged. If you want to NATURALLY loosen your curl pattern try Hanna and Neem treatments.
Anything that changes your curl pattern is damaging. A perm or not if it’s changing your hairs it’s damaging. Let her do what she wants with her hair. idk why ur pointing out ginas version isn’t natural as if what you proposed is natural when it’s changing her her as well.....
She did it because she knows that people with looser curls get treated better than other textures. Let’s stop acting like it wasn’t rooted in texturism.
@CultureCam TV it's not always this deep. I am currently considering this because I don't have the time anymore to manage my hair myself. Just had a baby and can't be spending hours on wash day or styling. Just respect people's choices, whatever they are🙏

This is a jerry curl and price gouging all in the name of altering your natural hair. The touch ups too? Please my ppl this is taking us down the rabbit hole of perms again. The “Gina Curl” has not been patented yet, and you do not know the long term damage it will cause to your hair, skin or any other organs. If one is so dewy eyed over getting a jerry curl, at least support licensed black stylists. Smh
How about instead of focusing on whether she’s white or black and just focus on if she can do the job, because many of us have gone to support black stylist hoping that they knew what they were doing and had our hair fucked up. Beautiful sissy 😩🥰. I’m yet to see anybody say gina curl broke their own hair off... just negativity. If it makes you happy and your hair goal is long loose curled hair Then it’s for you. i ain’t mad at nobody who can afford the luxury of getting the exact style they want without the stank and grease of a wave nouvea/jerri curl. This plays on women’s desire for a change more so than insecurity imo. Everybody wants to change something. Hair dye, piercings tattoos , makeup, bbl and especially wigs and braids! From ancient times to now All of those changes were used to “enhance” your appearance or provide an illusion. If you wish to limit your appearance to please ppl you’ve never met then knock yourself out. I love your hair, I was a hair stylist in the 80’s and the 90’s I have done my share of curly perms this lady has figured out a way to do them with out killing your hair, I saw where she was giving a class on how to do her gina curl it would be great if black stylist would take her class and learn her technique, what she charges for the curly perm really depends on how long it takes to complete the process, when I did curls I figured out a way to do them where your hair would really grow and you wouldn’t lose your hair the curl would last about 5 months and you didn’t have to keep it wet all the time🙂
So is this better than texturizer s
How?
Her Gina Curl is how my roller sets come out on my 4c hair, they last about 7 days.....One day I may get that Gina Curl, once it fits in my budget, LOL. And your makeup was cute and natural looking, loved it.
Don't. It's literally a Jerri Curl.
It is a dry curl, low maintenance version of jheri curl. Point is, gina curl is not new and you can do it yourself for waayyy less, just do your research first.
You have to keep going back like a relaxer. It’s just a jeri curl anyway. Any black stylist can do it. So don’t waste your money.
I’m like her hair can literally do that w/o the chemicals.. but hey it’s her hair
What kind of roller sets please?

I wouldn’t even let a YT person touch my type 3 hair😅 much less if I had type 4!
The lady said most of her friends were black even tho there was segregation back in the day she started doing black her & she couldn't get a job from whites. So she went to the black salon who were skeptical of her but a male stylist took her under his wing. I’ve read comments in another RUclipsrs page and ppl were saying their hair came out after a year.
That is a good idea. Permanent Hair treatments are only good in the moment. We are so happy once its finished because the results are beautiful. But when the new growth comes in, Its a tedious cycle of chemically altering our hair. This is what made me come to love my natural hair. I became tired of giving people money to damage my curls and coils. Exchange the perm for a deep conditioner your hair will thank you.

Love your hair!! The Gina Curl is truly an innovative process. Don’t listen to the haters. It’s obvious they haven’t done any research.
The problem is thinking you can just wake up and go or do absolutely nothing with 4C hair! Like no sis it needs all the TLc water, oil’s moisture especially if you have low porosity hair!
I have low porosity and it makes me want to cut my hair off! Every single product has protein and silicones. I get build up and protein overload so so easy. 😩. Tired of reading labels and dealing with such finicky hair 😒
Don't give up.
the problem is we don’t wanna be doing all that :/
She’s an actor; she has to be able to change her look all the time for different roles and auditions.
You were brave to try again after your previous loss. I hope this journey goes well.
Check out afrikanhairgod recent streams he is a natural hair cosmetologist who discussed about it.
I liked your approached and in looking at #5 though actually if you are taking 2already existing products and merging them then you have created something new. For example H2O- water separate not.
@@yamenj9361 I see your angle, but let's look at it like this . We take mayo and ketchup and mix it, yes we will have a different substance, but you still have to give credit to mayo and ketchup because without them you would not have a new product. I think most are angered at the fact the woman Gina is not giving the credit to the original sources in which she derived her process. She is passing it as if this is something we have never seen before. I can't get made if she puts an astronomical price on it, because if people are going to pay it then why not. As I stated before most are just mad at how she is passing it off as her idea and not giving credit to those that came before her. But Thank You for your comment and Peace and Blessings 😊

Videos like this and these methods just reinstate that, that a looser hair texture is more beautiful easier to manage when if you have the right products for your hair it’ll be easier to manage
That’s not truee. It just depends on you’re own personal perception. There are plenty of videos out there that cater to 4c people as well. @@pump1180 you made no sense who has anything against looser patterns I’m against girls with tight curls feeding into the notion that a looser texture is more beautiful and that our type 4 hair can’t be manageable and that they have to alter it to make it beautiful. If you truly loved your curl pattern you wouldn’t be doing anything to make it looser
@@londonevans I think that’s debatable because I know a lot of people who absolutely love their hair and see nothing wrong with it but get it altered or braided frequently just to make it manageable. Some people just don’t have the time or energy to spend hours each day doing their hair
@@pump1180 having a protective style to let your hair grow is different than chemically altering the pattern it’s self hate period now stop trying to sound even more wrong
@@londonevans I just feel like not everyone changing how they naturally look has some sort of deeper meaning behind it sometimes people just do shit because they like it. People have become soo sensitive these days it’s like everything has a meaning behind it when sometimes things don’t always gotta be so complicated. When any of race of women alter their hair no one throws shade onto them but when black women do the same all of a sudden we don’t love ourselves. Sometimes changing things about yourself can be self love too.

Your hair looks absolutely wonderful!

I ended up getting the Gina curl on 2 occasions and my hair was shredding and breaking off like I’ve never seen it before on my last retouch. Never straightened my hair and washed it 2 times a week. Thought it would help for easier hair maintenance but ended up with a big chop and starting over. If it’s working for her that’s amazing. But ladies as you come across other folks that do the Gina curl you will not hear about constant up dates to the process after maybe 2 years.
